Claire stood by the stainless steel gates of the kindergarten until her three little ones, hand in hand, disappeared inside. Only after a teacher welcomed them in did she smile softly and turn to leave.

Her brows knitted. She crossed to the other side of the road, lowered her head, and quickened her pace.

To his surprise, the woman didn't stop. At the sound, Claire broke into a run and the faster she went, the more she resembled a startled rabbit.
