"Why don't you speak plainly? I've got too many matters on my plate to remember every little thing," Claire said with a faint, mocking smile.
"Stop pretending." Emma arrogantly pulled a contract from her bag and waved it in front of her. "What's this, then? That's your signature right there."
"Oh." Claire glanced at it indifferently. "So that's what this is. I've actually been meaning to discuss it with you, but I've simply been too busy lately."
She picked up the phone on her desk and dialed. "Lisa, please bring in file number 17 and ask Matt Reid, our CFO, to come to my office."
Lisa agreed at once.
Emma, certain of victory, smirked in satisfaction and settled onto the sofa, ready to check the accounts and collect her money.
Before long, Lisa arrived carrying a black document folder.
"Lisa, show them the company's accounts," Claire instructed, her voice cool and detached without lifting her eyes from the screen.
