Chapter 6 - Wake Up

Min woke up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat. The sound of her breath echoed across her bedroom. Min forced herself out of her bed and dragged her feet to the stairs that led to the second floor of her house. As she took her first step, Min slipped and fell, hitting her head on one of the steps. Everyting went dark.

A few hours passed and Min woke up to find herself laid down on the carpet in her living room. She pressed her hand onto her forehead to check for any injury or bleeding. She forceed her self to sit up but felt the room spinning so she quickly lay back down.

Eventually, after A few minutes, Min was able to bring herself up onto her feet. When her vision cleared and she was able to see a bit more clearly in the dark, Min realized that, despite being in her living room, she was unable to recognize some of the objects around her.

After looking around for some time, Min realized that she was not in her house. She felt herself beginnig to fall but quickly regained her balance. Min thought to herself for a moment then began running her hands on the walls of the room looking for a light switch. However, it seemed like no matter how much she searched, she could not find a switch. As she continued her search she stumbled across a hollow part of the wall. She lightly shoved it, then began to push.

After what seemed like an hour of pushing the door fell to the ground, taking her with it. Min quickly recovered and brough herself back to her feet. Min stepped foward and immediatley felt a chill go up her back, then she felt a looming presence behind her. Min quickly jerked her head backward to see what was behind her, but saw nothing except the dark room she had just stepped out of. Min turned her gaze forward again and adjusted her shoulders. She looked around at her surroundings and noticed that the walls were lined with dim orange tinted lights sueeounded by a deep red wallpaper. On the walls almost in a strategized sequence, were images of famous writers, painters, leaders, and musicians. As she scanned the walls, lined with these pictures, she noticed that below each one, were the names of the people who had been featured. As she moved closer to one of the images, Min felt the same looming presence behind her. Then she felt the air in her lungs slowly slipping out. Min was not sure what was happening to her but she knew that she had to leave that place. She conjured all the strength she possibly could and took several stepps foward, until she reached the end of the room.

When she stepped out of the room, Min instantly felt a large weight lift off her lungs. She took a deep breath and immediately began coughing viciously.

When she was finally done coughing, Min heard small pats coming from the room she had just escaped. She looked backwwards but saw nothing. She fell onto the floor and leaned against the wall. The random pating sounds were gone but now, she heard footsteps coming from every direction. Min squeezed her hands on her ears and closed her eyes. She sat trembling on the floor for what felt like hours.

When Min Eventually opened her eyes and removed her hands from her ears, it was quite. Min uncrouched her body and took a deep sigh. Just as she did, a figure that neither resembled a beast nor a man was starring her in the eyes. Min used the wall to slowly lift herself off the floor, as she trembled. Min stepped backwards and then began to run.

As she ran, Min noticed that everything around her seemeed to shrink and enlargen all at the same time. Min continued running, but eventually fell down. As she sat on the ground, Min felt her eyes water, and her breath become sharper. Min mummbled something to herself in an attempt to calm herself. Min was not sure what she just saw, but was certain that she had to find a way out of that place. As she tried to calm herself, Min felt a warmth on the top of her head, then she saw her shadow beneth her. Min quickly looked up and saw a small door leading to what seemed to be a room full of light. Min stumbled to her feet and made her way to the door. She then took one step into the room, and felt her whole body being sucked in.

When she got to the end of the light, Min saw a a small dusty table with sketchy chairs on either side. Min walked up to the table and sat down on a chair, hoping to catch her breath, and collect her thoughts. She soon felt herself begin to fall aslep, and although she tried to resist it, Min soon fell asleep in the chair.

Two hours passed, and Min found herself laid on the cold floor. Min attempted to lift her head to see where she could be this time around, but she could not move. She used her eyes to look around as much as she possibly could and they eventually landed on a weird looking doorway. As she starred at it, the dark figure stepped out of the door way. Min tried to force her body off the floor but she could not move. Her whole body was numb. Suddenly, bright lights shone around Min. She gazed around the room and realized, that this time, Min was now actually in her living room. Min quickly gazed back at the door way where the dark figure came from but saw nothing. She sighed in relieef and look at the ceiling of the room. For four hours, Min stared at the ceiling. She noticed lines running across the ceiling's paint. As she starred, Min heard a loud scream and felt her body jerk. Beliving that she had regained movement, Min attempted to sit up. However, her body failed her. She used her eyes to look towards where she heard the scream. Infront of her, Min saw her mother, father, and little sister. Her mom was holding onto her father, in tears, as her little sister was on the phone giving details of a deaad body in their living room. As chaos errupted before her, Min noticed the same figure standing behind her family. Before Min could react, the figure was kneeling besides her. It placed its hand on her eyes and closed them. Min felt her breath slow down. and her body shut down.
