Chapter 120 - CHAPTER 121

c121: Pallet Town Special Reserve!!

Living in Pallet Town under the care of Professor Oak is considered one of the safest arrangements in the entire Kanto Region. It's officially recognized as a special research protection zone under direct oversight of the Kanto Alliance, offering unparalleled security due to Oak's prestige and the presence of League-affiliated facilities.

As long as Ash remains within Pallet Town and avoids drawing unnecessary attention outside, no matter how much his unique abilities draw interest or how extraordinary his talent becomes, even threatening groups like Team Rocket known for targeting gifted trainers would not dare to make a move on him.

What's more, while talent may attract the eyes of ambitious factions, it also earns the scrutiny and protection of the Alliance. The Alliance has been experiencing a significant shortage of elite young Trainers in recent years, and any outstanding talent especially one mentored directly by Professor Oak is seen as an asset to be guarded, not discarded.

Professor Oak had already submitted a successful application for Ash to receive a portable Poké Ball transfer terminal, allowing him to manage his team remotely. This support enables Ash to operate his online store through the Alliance's official trading platform without needing to visit a traditional Pokémon Center like the one in Viridian City.

Upon completing the summer camp, Ash will be officially recognized as an Outstanding Student, and with Professor Oak's endorsement and the Alliance's special approval, he'll receive permission to carry Pokémon before the standard age of ten.

Armed with his unique psychic ability codename "527" and his own personalized Mega Trainer Development System (which evolved through his interactions with Birdguide and Joban's mental focus techniques), Ash's strength and development are projected to advance at a speed far beyond the average young trainer once he makes his official debut in four years.

"By that time," Ash thought confidently, "if anyone dares to come after me, they'll have to seriously reconsider."

With this perspective, Ash made up his mind: in the upcoming camp activities, especially with Saffron City TV Station preparing to begin their 24/7 embedded broadcast, he wouldn't hide his strength he'd amplify it.

"That's right. As a Pokémon Trainer, you can't hesitate or act timid when faced with obstacles. If my goal is to become the world's most powerful Trainer, then I need to meet every challenge head-on and maximize every chance to evolve and grow."

Ash saw the arrival of the TV crew not as a threat, but a prime opportunity. A full-time live broadcast of the summer camp was a perfect stage one that could showcase his abilities to all of Kanto, and even Alliance members monitoring from beyond.

"I have to make this moment count," Ash decided.

"!!cat...!!"

"Eh? Huh?" Ash blinked as Gary's voice pulled him back to reality.

"Seriously, what is going on with you? I just said the TV station was coming to camp, and ever since, you've been totally out of it. You haven't heard a word since," Gary complained, shooting him an incredulous look.

"Sorry, sorry~" Ash waved it off sheepishly.

"I was just thinking… Since the Saffron TV Station will be filming the summer camp 24/7, I might be able to use the exposure to help promote my online store." He offered the explanation casually, part truth, part deflection.

"You mean that skill-enhancement shop you started through the Alliance's official exchange network? That's actually a smart move," Gary nodded, then furrowed his brow. "But didn't you say you were planning to 'pretend' to be a breeder? Won't this expose your Psychic abilities?"

Ash grinned, unconcerned. "It's fine. Just like the healing skill I revealed earlier, my skill-enhancement ability is purely auxiliary non-aggressive. It's not the kind of thing that puts a target on your back."

"And since the healing technique is already public knowledge, there's not much risk in revealing I can also help Pokémon learn new moves faster. Besides," Ash added with a confident smirk, "I live in Pallet Town. What danger could possibly reach me there?"

Gary nodded in reluctant agreement. He understood all too well how influential his grandfather was not just in the academic world, but across the entire Alliance hierarchy.

"Still… Ash, you really are something. You're only six, and you've already started your own business." Gary's tone was mixed with genuine admiration and disbelief.

...….

After finishing breakfast and resting for a bit, the announcement from Professor Oak finally came through an instruction for all students to gather in the Bazi field.

"Looks like the real action's finally starting," Ash said as he stood, energized and ready.

"I don't know what today's activity will be," said Ash, frowning. "I lost too many points during the night expedition yesterday. I've got to work harder today to make up for it."

"By the way, what's that vehicle doing parked on the dam over there?" Gary pointed. "It has a logo that looks like it's from a news network maybe a TV station reporter?"

"I'm not sure either!!"

On the dam just outside the camp's perimeter, the gathered students were abuzz with speculation, chatting excitedly among themselves as they looked over toward the unfamiliar car.

Not long after, Professor Oak arrived, and this time, unlike usual, he wasn't only accompanied by Assistant Gang Ping and Sophie, the caretaker assigned to the Carlos Region exchange group. Today, a tall, dignified woman in a sharp, professional suit walked beside them. Her name tag and camera crew trailing behind her signaled something out of the ordinary.

"Good morning, everyone!" Professor Oak greeted cheerfully as he approached the assembled campers, his familiar smile already drawing their attention.

"Good morning...."

"Good morning...…"

"Good morning, Professor Oak!!" The students chorused back with the respectful energy they had grown used to displaying during announcements.

"The weather today is bright and sunny once again the perfect backdrop for another exciting day of Pokémon summer camp!" Oak continued.

"I imagine you're all curious about what today's activity will be, but before we dive into that, I'd like to take a moment to introduce someone important and make a major announcement."

"As you may have already noticed, someone new has joined us today." Professor Oak gestured toward the woman at his side. "This is Ms. Yoko, a senior field reporter representing Saffron City TV Station."

"As you all know, this particular Pokémon summer camp is a special cross-regional cultural exchange initiative between Kanto and Carlos, co-hosted by my own research facility and Professor Sycamore's Bratano Laboratory in Lumiose City."

"Given the scale and international attention this camp has received even more so than any of the previous summer camps parents and the wider public are highly invested in how you all are doing."

"Originally, this two-week camp was designed to be a fully enclosed environment to help you focus on bonding with Pokémon and fellow trainers without outside interference. However, following recent events, especially the Gyarados incident during the fishing challenge and the injury to one of our participants, the Alliance and your families have requested greater transparency."

"As a result, we've decided to temporarily lift the full-enclosure rule for the second half of this camp. Ms. Yoko and her team from Saffron TV will be stationed within the summer camp and will begin real-time filming and live broadcasting."

"For the next week or so, they will document your daily life, challenges, and growth, sharing it across the Kanto Region. Your parents, families, and the general public will be able to see how you're doing your efforts, your teamwork, your progress all of it."

"So I encourage you all: in today's activity, and throughout the rest of summer camp, do your best. Show your enthusiasm and spirit not just for the camera, but for yourselves and your Pokémon partners!" Professor Oak concluded, his tone upbeat but sincere.

Student E nervously gasped. "Ah!! Does that mean reporters will be following us around, filming everything we do, and livestreaming it? I'm so nervous now."

Student F looked worried. "Oh no... my dad's going to see this? I told him on the phone yesterday that I was leading the class top performer but actually I've been stuck in ninth place since day one."

"If he finds out the truth from the broadcast, he's definitely going to call and give me the worst scolding of my life."

Student G chimed in, with more excitement than dread. "Well, I'm ranked sixteenth right now, but I've been improving. I really think I can break into the top ten today! I can't wait for my grandma to watch me on TV and see how great I've become."
