So that was it… that was how the Alpha's mother had died.
The realization hit me hard. My throat tightened as I swallowed hard, and my heart beat faster than usual, each thud echoing in my ears like drum.
No wonder Josh knew so much about the mansion. Every word he had said that day at Alfie's training institution… it had all been the truth.
"So… h-how does this even concern the five Alphas?" I finally asked, my voice trembling as much as my body. I tried to keep myself steady, tried to hold my ground, but it was useless. My knees wanted to buckle under the weight of it all. "Why do they have to suffer alongside their father? The Patriarch should be the one to die, shouldn't he?"
