"It feels so cold, so silent and so distant, is this how the void of death is like? Had all that I done led up this moment? To be swallowed by this creature..? May I be guided and may my soul be left to rest."
Suddenly her eyes shot open, sharp pain shooting through her body, her face laid against a cool hard pavement. Pavement? She pushed herself up, her breath hitched, she wanted to scream yet her voice came out as a soft breath. Before her stood buildings, a lot of them, most seemed like houses for people to live in, they followed a set pattern. Made from a unknown marble like material, windows seemed to be made from something that resembled wood and lay in the middle stood a large castle which towered above all. Four massive towers spread from the depths at each corner, decorated by a teal dome at the top. The main part of the castle had its own small towers, each cone roof coloured a pale violet, surrounded by walls which guard its sacred grounds. It was something completely out of a fantasy story, her gaze shot straight upwards. The sky was pitch black yet everything somehow seemed illuminated, she was deep under the water that was for sure, how could she even breathe. The surface no where in sight and she had glossed over the detail which had shook her the most. There were people, they looked humanoid, all of them wore something that was more fancy than your average clothing. They shared one characteristic, their skin was rather pale and they had features which seemed like something a sea creature would have. Scales on certain parts of the body, arms, legs and sometimes even the face. Some had fins and some didn't show anything specifically different, yet it was clear they were no different. Everything seemed to stretch for a while, as if there had been a separate world right underneath at the depths of the ocean.
She wasn't sure whether to run or go near the people, with a deep breath she took a few steps towards the people. Walking into the city, past the people she looked around, she could feel their eyes staring at her or were they? "Oh? A newly esteemed guest has come to join us." Was somebody speaking to her? The male voice came from behind her, it was soft but also a bit low and held authority as if he was someone of some high class. How could she even understand him? Her eyes shot back to see a tall man, maybe around 180 centimeters, dark murky hair and a cobalt blue coat which seemed to stretch to his knees. Etched into the coat were wavy patterns with a golden accent. "You are from the surface, are you not? I am Euthykritos, I am in charge of handling people like you." He suddenly grabbed her wrist and dragged her through the streets, now she could definitely feel the stares of the people around. "I am.. Mira." She pushed herself to answer, her voice coming out as a breathless murmur.
The man stopped in front of a large building, marble white, with pillars for support and guards around it. She was pulled inside, to reveal a soft a large hall, decorated with a red carpet and banners which resembled something like a creature. She wasn't given much time to look around as she was pulled into a room to the side, there sat one more person. "You aren't the only one who has recently descended from the surface here, her name is Galadriel" He says as he points to the girl sitting in the corner. "I must notify that another has descended, you two shall stay here and wait." With that Euthykritos left, the steps of his shoes disappearing into the distance.
The second he left, Mira fell to her knees, none of this felt real to her. A city under the ocean, all these strange people and worst of all none of this made sense. Tears slowly welled up at the corners of her eyes, she could only curse her luck had it not been for that asteroid, she wouldn't be who knows how far underneath the ocean.
Suddenly a hand awoke her from her the depths of her own mind. The touch was so warm, so gentle. Mira's eyes wandered to the source, right, there was another person here, a girl. Her pale blonde hair which stretched far down her sides, it seemed to almost shine. Those golden eyes which almost shone with a determination which Mira didn't have herself. She had been also wearing the same sort of space suit Mira was wearing, different colours and model. "You can't let yourself fall apart that easily.." Galadriel's voice was almost like a soft lullaby, so calming yet so full of passion. She slowly knelt down to Mira's level, her hands gently anchored themselves in Mira's shoulders. "I know that fear all too well myself, the wish for all of this to be just some meaningless dream. So I wouldn't be stranded on a unknown planet." Galadriel's eyes wander across Mira, a small look of surprise spread across her face for a moment. "You.. You are from there too, aren't you? What chance.."
Yet before Galadriel could say anything else Mira cut her off "Don't speak.. Not about that!" The room fell into silence, both girl's broke eye contact. It was tense and awkward, it was something that one of the girl's could never bring herself to remember. Shunned Galadriel lightens her grip on Mira's shoulders, she didn't know what to say to the girl before her.
Suddenly the door creaked open and Galadriel let go, it wasn't hard to guess who it was. Euthykritos entered the room, holding a paper as his sharp gaze fell on both of the girls. "I have come with exact orders, you two will be coming with me." His authoritative voice demanded, pulling both girls up. He led them out of the room and towards the grand stairs.
