Chapter 280 - Chapter 280

Realizing that reasoning with this woman was impossible, Nathan turned to the people accompanying Meilin.

"Sorry, sir. We're only responsible for the young lady's safety and handling her payments. We have no authority to interfere with her decisions," one of the bodyguards said calmly.

Nathan was speechless. Every one of them was the same—completely unhelpful.

"Pikachu, speed up. Let's get away from them."

Left with no choice, Nathan had Pikachu accelerate to escape this mentally unwell woman.

But Nathan had clearly underestimated the power of the rich.

As soon as Pikachu sped up, Meilin and her bodyguards threw Poké Balls—and summoned Dragonite!

Among Pokémon, Dragonite is known for its incredible flight speed—rumored to reach the speed of sound.

Typically, Dragonite live peacefully near the ocean. They're gentle by nature and are even known to guide storm-tossed ships back to land.

However, capturing a Dragonite is no easy feat.

The conditions are strict.

Yet this woman and her bodyguards each had one!

Is this fair? Can money really do anything?

"Hey, hey, hey! Don't you have any manners at all? Is this how you treat a lady?" Meilin shouted, catching up to Nathan in just thirty seconds.

If he could, Nathan honestly wanted to turn his entire 15 billion in Pokécoins into coins, stack them into a mountain, and bury her underneath it.

Was she some kind of superglue? Impossible to shake off!

"First of all, we don't know each other, so manners don't apply. Second, my Pokémon is not for sale!"

"So can you please stop pestering me already?!" Nathan said, enunciating every word with frustration.

But Meilin didn't listen at all.

"If you won't sell it, then fine! Just help me make my Pikachu that big too. Then I'll leave you alone. I'll even pay you!"

Hearing that, Nathan wanted to slap her so hard she'd be buried ten feet underground—with no chance of coming back up.

What do you mean help you make your Pikachu that big?

His Gigantamax Pikachu took years to grow that size. Did she expect to wait a lifetime?

"Are you done yet?! This Pikachu took years to get this big! You want me to work for you for the rest of my life?!" Nathan finally snapped, yelling back.

Just a second ago, Meilin was stuck to him like glue. Now, with his shout—she burst into tears!

"Waaaah! You yelled at me! Even my dad doesn't yell at me! Waaahhh!"

Her bodyguards quickly rushed to comfort her with tissues and soothing words—but nothing seemed to help.

"Oh my god, this woman is crazy!" Nathan muttered to himself.

Seeing her crying, Nathan did the only logical thing—he ran.

Although Nathan wasn't very skilled in dealing with women, he knew one thing for sure:

When you can't win—run. Especially while she's still crying. If not now, when?

After he had gotten far enough away, Meilin gradually stopped crying and glared fiercely in the direction Nathan had gone.

"You won't sell me your Pikachu? You yelled at me? Just you wait!"

With that, Meilin left the mystic realm with her entourage.

Meanwhile, after running for quite a while and confirming he wasn't being chased, Nathan finally relaxed.

Free from any annoying pests, he resumed peacefully training his Pokémon.

"Ahh... only the voices of Pokémon can truly bring peace of mind," Nathan sighed, listening to the cheerful sounds of his team.

Meilin had really driven him up the wall.

Over the next few days, Nathan stayed within the mystic realm, completely cut off from the outside world.

And finally, after days of focused training—Charmander evolved!

As the evolution light shone, Nathan watched with excitement.

Charmander had already looked unusual before evolution—what would it look like now?

As the light faded, the evolved form was revealed.

Previously, Charmander stood on two legs. After evolution, it now walked on all fours.

The two small bumps on its head had become flame-shaped horns.

Where once its head was bald, it now had a mane of red flame-like fur flowing down its back.

With every breath, the horns pulsed brighter and dimmer.

Even the tail flame had moved—now burning from its feet instead.

Even more amazing, its body was now covered in tiny, glimmering scales!

"Is this even evolution? Did you just change bodies entirely?" Nathan exclaimed, stunned.

Most Pokémon still retained some of their original features after evolution—but this Charmander had changed completely.

As he gently petted its now-scaled face, Nathan had no idea how to even name it anymore.

"You've got horns, scales like a lizard, but you look kind of like a deer... or maybe a Qilin? But technically you're a dragon-type..."

After thinking for a while, Nathan made a decision:

"From now on, your name is... Hotfoot!"

Yes, Nathan—being terrible at naming—settled on Hotfoot.

But it wasn't really his fault. People have their flaws.

And honestly, he'd never had to name a one-of-a-kind, never-before-seen Pokémon before.

Volcarona and Mewtwo already had proper names.

But this Horse-like Pokémon? He had to come up with something himself.

Luckily, Charmander didn't understand what "Hotfoot" meant and happily accepted it.

Satisfied, Nathan returned Hotfoot to its Poké Ball and prepared to leave the mystic realm.

To be honest, the place was massive—he hadn't even explored half of it.

But he had run out of supplies. If he stayed any longer, he'd be stuck eating fruit and drinking water.

Sitting on Pikachu's shoulder, Nathan made his way to the exit.

He pulled out his phone, plugged it in, and turned it on.

The moment it powered up—it exploded with notifications!

Ding ding ding!

The phone buzzed non-stop for almost three minutes.

Opening it, Nathan saw hundreds of missed calls from Lily.

"What... do I need to buy myself a coffin or something?" Nathan said nervously.

His parents had also called dozens of times—morning, noon, and night.

Thinking he should figure out what was going on, he decided to call Lily first.

The moment the call connected, a furious voice screamed from the phone:

"NATHAN! ARE YOU TRYING TO DIE?! OUT THERE FOOLING AROUND BEHIND MY BACK?!"

Nathan yanked the phone away—but the voice was still loud and clear.

"I—"

"Don't you 'I' me! Listen up! If I don't see you tonight, don't bother coming home!" Lily shouted over the call.

Beep beep beep.

The call was hung up.

"I... I didn't even do anything..." Nathan muttered helplessly.

"Husband~~ you're finally out~" came a sickly sweet voice right next to him.

Nathan turned—and saw the nightmare herself: Meilin!

Behind her, her bodyguards held out wads of red envelopes and an eye-catching red banner.

When Nathan read the words on the banner, he finally understood why everyone had been freaking out:

"Warm congratulations on the birth of my first child with Nathan!"

"WHAT THE ACTUAL—!!"

Nathan stared at her in horror.

He never imagined he'd run into a woman this insane!

Without hesitation, he released his Flygon, leaped on, and flew away at full speed.

At the same time, he called Kelly.

"Kelly, get me a train or a plane ticket. I have to get home tonight!"

Kelly had already seen the news online and more or less figured out what had happened.

Only a man could understand the plight of another man.

"I'll check right away. If there's anything available, I'll book the earliest flight for you."

That evening, Nathan sat on a plane, scrolling through the online chaos.

There were all kinds of rumors—accusations that he abandoned a lover after getting her pregnant...

Claims he was sleeping with fans...

And the most ridiculous one?

"Nathan seduced a rich heiress and bribed Valar's team to win the championship!"

He silently pulled out sunglasses and a face mask and put them on.

Sometimes... it's better to be a nobody.

But of course, some problems aren't so easy to run from—like right now...

"Husband~~ why are you running so fast~?"

That nightmarish voice came again.

Nathan stiffly turned around—and saw that woman again, like a demon that refused to leave.

(TN: Ok, I know the name was bad but I was too tired to think of one, so I put the only silly dragon name I can think of. Named it Hotfoot from the way it was written in the chapter it's supposed to sound silly. Original name btw was Goudan or Dog Egg (狗蛋) Maybe it'll have a better name when it evolved to Charizard if not I'll make it sure it have one.)
