"Kelly, this isn't over between us!"
Nathan muttered silently in his heart.
Unfortunately, you can't open the plane's doors or windows mid-flight. Otherwise, Nathan would have jumped out already.
Sitting next to him was a balding middle-aged man, who glanced at Meilin, then at Nathan, and couldn't help but reminisce about his own youthful days.
Ah, to be young again.
"Alright, what do I have to do for you to let me go?"
Nathan gave in—completely gave in.
If she could already portray him like this now, who knew how much worse it could get if it continued?
And there was no chance she'd lose interest in that Gigantamax Pikachu anytime soon.
At the current pace, it wouldn't take more than a few days before this young lady drove him insane.
Seeing that Nathan had relented, Meilin's face lit up with a smug smile.
"Fine, start by apologizing to me," she said, lifting her chin so high it seemed like she wanted everyone to only look at her chin.
"If I apologize, will you let me go?"
Nathan didn't apologize right away—he asked first.
What if he apologized and she still didn't let him off the hook? Wouldn't that mean he'd apologized for nothing?
"Nope. Besides apologizing, you also have to sell me that Pikachu—or get me one just like it."
Meilin shook her head decisively.
After all, everything she'd done so far was just to get her hands on that Gigantamax Pikachu.
"…"
Nathan realized there was nothing more to say to this woman.
For the rest of the flight, he just ignored Meilin, who continued putting on a performance right beside him.
Even the balding man next to him looked on with envy.
Yeah… Older men really did prefer fresh-faced girls.
Once off the plane, Nathan planned to go straight home.
But what he didn't realize was how crazy a woman could get when she was fixated on something!
He had barely arrived at his doorstep when he saw Meilin already waiting there for him.
At that moment, all Nathan wanted was to find a high enough cliff and jump off.
It was like that saying:
"I'm already home—and you're still chasing me?!"
Yes, she was!
Meilin was now completely obsessed with Nathan's Pikachu.
Nathan ignored her completely and went upstairs, locked the door as soon as he entered.
But right after locking it, he felt as though several knives were pressing into his back.
He turned around to see Lily sitting with his mother, both of them staring daggers at him.
As for his father, he had already silently walked out to the balcony.
The wrath of a god could paint the seas red—and as Nathan's father, all he could do was silently pray that his son wouldn't die too horribly.
Otherwise, the fallout would be a nightmare.
"You still know to come home? I thought you'd be out with that little vixen tonight!"
Before Lily could speak, Nathan's mother cut in coldly.
"Mom, Lily, listen to me, actually…"
Ding dong~
Before Nathan could finish, the doorbell rang.
He didn't need to look—he could guess with his toes that the devil outside was Meilin.
But there was no way he could open the door right now.
If he did, he'd definitely die a worse death.
"Who's at the door?"
His mother asked coldly.
"A door-to-door salesperson. I saw them downstairs earlier."
Nathan answered without hesitation.
But he could never have predicted what Meilin would do next.
"Honey~ You're home—why won't you let me in?"
Meilin's voice rang out, and Nathan felt like he'd fallen straight into a pit of despair.
It was over.
Totally over.
He had planned to explain things first before dealing with that woman,
But now? No point.
Seeing his mother and Lily glaring at him like they were ready to eat him alive, Nathan seriously regretted coming home.
Wouldn't it have been better to just disappear for a couple of weeks?
"Lily, don't worry—I'll stand up for you today!"
His mother comforted Lily as she held her hand.
Then she walked toward the door.
"Step aside."
"She must've gotten the wrong door—please, go ahead!"
Nathan tried to explain, but seeing the fire in his mother's eyes, he gave up and obediently moved aside.
The door swung open. Nathan shrank behind it, hoping Meilin wouldn't see him.
"Is this Nathan's house? I'm his wife."
The moment Meilin opened her mouth, it was like the gates of hell had opened.
"This is Nathan's house, yes. But he doesn't have a wife. He only has a girlfriend—Lily. If you've got nothing else to say, please leave."
His mother's voice was cold.
Hearing her chase Meilin off, Nathan breathed a sigh of relief.
As long as that devil woman left, everything else could be handled.
But then came a twist he never saw coming.
Meilin pulled out a medical record booklet and handed it through the security gate.
At first, his mother had no intention of taking it,
But when she saw the bold words "Women and Children's Health Hospital" on the cover, she reached for it.
From behind the door, Nathan could hear his mother's breathing grow heavier.
"…Excuse me. Please wait a moment."
She forced a smile, closed the door, then dragged Nathan straight into the bedroom.
"You've got one minute. Explain this."
She threw the booklet at him.
Nathan opened it—and felt like his whole world collapsed.
He hadn't even touched a woman in over ten years—
So how the hell did he have a child now?!
"Mom, if I told you she just wants to buy my Pokémon and I refused, so she pulled all this—would you believe me?"
Nathan said weakly.
"All this over a Pokémon? A young lady, throwing away her dignity and even pulling out a medical record?"
His mom didn't yell, since Lily was still sitting outside. Her voice stayed low,
But Nathan could clearly hear the disbelief.
In desperation, he quickly pulled up Meilin's background online.
"Look—here's her info. Her family is rich. If she wants to forge this kind of stuff, she could truck it in by the load."
He handed his phone to his mother.
She knew her son's character—he had been with Lily for years, and their feelings were genuine.
She'd never seen him fool around with another woman.
But the real issue now… was how to explain things to Lily!
"Even if I believe you—how do you plan to explain it to Lily? And what are you going to do about that woman?"
His mom asked after a moment of thought.
Nathan also really wanted to know the answer—
But honestly…
He had no idea.
…
"Phew~"
After a long moment, Nathan took a deep breath, stood up, and walked to the living room.
"Mom, I'm going to explain."
He sat down beside Lily.
She didn't even glance at him.
"Lily, that woman's just trying to manipulate me into selling her my Pokémon."
Nathan tried to explain.
But Lily didn't listen—she just kept staring at the coffee table, as if something fascinating was there.
"I'm serious. Remember I caught that giant Pikachu—"
Cough cough~
Just as he was about to launch into a lengthy explanation, he heard two coughs.
His mother was already thoroughly disappointed.
Couldn't even coax a woman—just like his useless dad.
"Lily, you've got to believe me. You're so beautiful—how could I be into anyone else?"
…
Realizing that wasn't the best way to phrase it, Nathan quickly tried to rephrase.
But his mom, standing behind him, was already mentally exhausted, constantly signaling what he should be saying.
"Is that so? Well, I saw pictures online. That woman looked pretty good too—and she's a proper young lady from a big family."
Finally, after Nathan's long string of desperate attempts, Lily spoke.
