Chapter 11 - A Star and a Planet

Author's Note:

My sci-fi phase is over... more or less. But my My Little Pony phase has returned in full force.

The concept of humans/aliens ending up on Equestria is quite fascinating.

One of my favorite sci-fi First Contact stories is [Pathfinder 5] by Agent-G

PS. Happy New Year to everyone reading this story.

POV Narrator

In Dimension 2216, somewhere on the edge of the Galaxy lies the planet Equus, a world full of life and magic.

Of the many nations found here, Equestria is one of the most peaceful and prosperous, being populated primarily by ponies.

Not far from this kingdom's capital, Canterlot, there is a small town called Ponyville which has recently become quite the place for attracting unique ponies and all sorts of trouble.

Ponyville's infrastructure consists mostly of medieval village-style architecture.

Typical houses have a wooden structure, characteristic thatched roofs and protruding upper floors.

One of the most notable locations in Ponyville is Twilight Sparkle's home, known as the Golden Oak Library, a large living tree that has been transformed into a strange combination of a private home and a public library.

Outside, Golden Oak Library is a tree with a beehive hanging from a branch, a candelabra-shaped sign on the front door, an open-book sign outside the door, and two balconies, one of which has a telescope.

At the moment, the moon has risen, almost all the inhabitants of Ponyville are asleep in their homes—I emphasize the word almost all, because Twilight Sparkle is still awake and enjoying the night.

The female unicorn sits on one of the balconies of her house, fiddling with her new telescope, some star maps, a notebook and writing materials, and a candle for light.

It's been a week since Twilight and her female friends, plus Spike, returned from the Crystal Empire.

Saving an entire kingdom from being subjugated by the spirit of an evil unicorn was quite the undertaking.

So Twilight decided to take some days off and indulge in some of her hobbies, such as reading pleasure books and astronomy.

"Princess Luna did a great job with this night, I'll have to send her a thank you letter tomorrow." Twilight mutters, admiring the numerous stars in the night sky.

Alone with the stars, the unicorn mare begins to let her imagination wander, this time not to imagine the worst possible scenario, but for simple joy.

'I wonder if someone out there in the stars is doing what I'm doing.' Twilight thinks, as she uses her magical telekinesis to change the trajectory of her telescope.

Twilight's imagination conjures up images of an ice-covered planet, a massive observatory, and a furry alien Pony studying the night sky, calling Celestia's sun a scientific name from a foreign language.

"Are we alone in the universe? I wonder when we'll know the answer to that question." Twilight mutters, wanting to find out this question since she was a child.

Twilight's mother is a science fiction writer, while her father is an astronomer. Their love for the stars brought them together and made Twilight grow up with many fairy tales about stars and other worlds.

Twilight is pretty sure if she hadn't gotten a magic-themed cutie mark, she definitely would have followed in her parents' footsteps, something she does in her spare time as a hobby.

'Would aliens have one Princess who rules everything or multiple Princesses, maybe a King and Queen?' Twilight wonders, curious what the world would be like with more than three Alicorn Princesses.

The telescope was positioned in a direction near one of the constellations used by sailors to orient themselves.

Twilight's mind is torn between her astronomy work and her space fantasy.

"I wonder who will be the lucky pony who gets the honor of making First Contact. He'll write a new chapter in the history books and a new subject for the magic of friendship." said Twilight, ready to give up a hoof so she could live long enough to see that moment.

"Unfortunately, I don't think it will happen in my lifetime. The train was invented when my parents were my age, airships only a decade ago, we still have a long way to go to create ships capable of safe space travel," Twilight said with a slightly bitter note, knowing that the development of magic and technology is an extremely long and complicated process.

At that moment, a memory of a little story flashed through Twilight's mind about how an alien was forced to crash-land in Equestria and she ended up meeting a friendly Earth Pony, who promised to help him repair his Starship while hiding him from the paranoid Ponies who wanted to lock up and study the alien, fearing a possible invasion.

"We can't go to them yet, but they could come to us. I'm sure Pinkie Pie would be thrilled to plan the First Alien Welcome Party," Twilight said with a small smile, imagining such an absurd scenario.

'Five more minutes and I'm off to bed. Tomorrow I have to meet my girl friends at Sugarcube Corner.' Twilight thinks, taking one last long look through the telescope.

Suddenly, the feeling of tiredness suddenly vanishes from Twilight's face.

"That's not possible!" Twilight exclaims, using her horn's magic to lift up some of the newest and most accurate star maps.

Twilight looks at the maps, then looks through the telescope, repeating this process three times to be sure.

A huge smile appeared on Twilight Sparkle's face, as if Pinkie Pie had infected her with her infinite happiness.

"I discovered a new star! Daddy will be so proud of me, and I'll definitely get compliments from Princess Celestia and Princess Luna!" Twilight exclaims loudly, forgetting that the rest of Ponyville is asleep.

Seconds later, the Unicorn Mare ran back into the house, leaving all her astronomy equipment alone, with the telescope pointed at a new, small "star."

Twilight went straight to her bedroom, where a certain baby dragon is located.

"Spike! You have to wake up and send a letter to Princess Luna right now! I have to claim this discovery before someone else does!" Twilight exclaims, waking up her adoptive brother/assistant.

At the same time, in space about 1500 light-years away from the planet Equus lies the "star" just discovered by Twilight.

From Ponyville, the "star" seen through a primitive telescope is a small, bright red dot.

But up close, it can clearly be seen that the Twilight Sparkle discovery is not a star, but an artificial construct of alien origin.

The alien object is eight hundred meters long and vaguely cylindrical in shape. At the base of the cylinder is a huge "eye" of red neon light, surrounded by a huge obsidian metal ring, from which seven rectangular metal arms extend, decorated with circuit-like symbols and red neon stripes.

The machine's eye is pointed straight at the planet Equus, and on the surface of the optics one can see a reflection of the world filled with magic.

This artificial construct is an autonomous star system observation satellite.

The purpose of this machine and its like is to be sent out on a scouting mission into uncharted space, traveling alone for months or even years, while using its systems to map space and catalogue everything it discovers.

Today, Unit Evileye-007 reported one of the best results possible, the discovery of a Garden Planet.

The dumb AI in control sent an encrypted message via a communication system that combines quantum technology and the study of imaginary number space.

[Priority Call, Alpha Level. Evileye-007 has found a Garden Planet. I envy the first images and star coordinates.]

XXX

35,000 light-years away from the planet Equus, there is a huge, dark purple and magenta Starship that looks rather intimidating, as if it were built by a Decepticon fan.

This Starship can be compared to a huge whale covered in tens of millions of tons of metal.

Its specifications are: Length 40,000 meters, Width 10,000 meters, Height 12,000 meters, Mass 800 million metric tons, Crew 220,000.

Its name is YNSF (Ysatnaf Naval Space Force) Rosedust-7, a Forge-type Starship, specifically City Forge, and belongs to the Princess class.

Princess-class Starships are incredibly rare in existence, with only 50 of them in the entire USKY (United Space Kingdom of Ysatnaf and its colonies).

Normally, a Forge-type Starship would not be smack dab in the middle of the outer edge of the Galaxy.

But this Starship and the one who commands it is not a simple person like all the others, indeed, she is at the top of the USKY hierarchy pyramid.

Therefore many of the standard rules and regulations do not apply to YNSF Rosedust-7.

Inside the City Forge-type Starship, there is a huge circular chamber filled with advanced equipment, including a dozen large holographic screens displaying various images of new planets, space debris, and more.

In this "map" room lies the Captain of the Rosedust, Archwitch Alix Luzzana B. Asami.

Alix also holds the position of Fourth Princess of USKY, Third in line to the throne, and the noble title of Duchess of the Planet Flamel and its three moons, Nigredo, Albedo, Rubedo.

Alix Luzzana "Luz" B. Asami is a 539-year-old Hanyo female from the planet Ysatnaf who outwardly resembles a 19-year-old human woman if you ignore a few minor differences.

Alix is 187 centimeters tall, with long red hair that reaches her hips, styled with a single strand of bangs braided to the left.

She has a very well-developed and sinuous figure. Her three dimensions are: B89 W55 H89.

Her skin is milky white, with a radiance and perfection that makes many models jealous.

On her forehead he has a small black circle tattoo.

Clearly, her suffers from a more unique case of heterochromia, meaning his eyes are different colors.

The left eye has a black sclera, a light purple iris, and a thin, vertical reptilian pupil.

The right eye has a white sclera, a light blue iris, and a round pupil.

Her ears are slightly pointed as if she were some kind of half-elf.

A characteristic feature of Alix are her legs, starting from just above the knee and going down they are completely synthetic made of a shiny dark black metal with magenta highlights.

The shape of her mechanical feet resemble shoes with 15-centimeter heels.

She wears a dark purple and magenta dress with black laces, open at the back and front, which exposes much of her skin, such as her entire abdomen, chest, and shoulders.

Around the navel is a black emblem of a serpent biting its own tail.

Luckily, the laces of her dress cover the essentials of her breasts and reach her neck, connecting to a black lace choker with a small crimson stone.

The rest of Alix's outfit consists of black lace gloves that reach her elbows; a sheer, knee-length skirt with two layers, one purple and one magenta; and a pair of red bikini bottoms.

"It's been nearly five years since I received permission from Elder Sister Adara to leave USKY territory and explore this portion of the Galaxy. I've made so many discoveries, but the time is approaching for me to return," Alix said, looking at a holographic screen displaying a sort of calendar and a countdown.

If the content is translated into human language, it would be understood that there are 101 days left, then Alix's fun aboard the Rosedust-7 will be over.

With a simple swipe of the map, the screen showing an alien calendar disappears.

In its place appears a map of the Segmentum Ultima, the area of the Galaxy where Rosedust-7 is located.

In the center of the map is a magenta-colored miniature of the Starship, while in seven different corners are miniatures of the Evileye-type observation satellites.

"If I don't make a game-changing discovery, Big Sister Adara will terminate my Warrant of Trade, and I'll have to return to Ruling Planet Flamel and its moons." Alix said in a disgruntled voice, unwilling to end her current assignment.

The Fourth Princess doesn't hate her duties as Duchess and Planetary Ruler, but exploring the unknown is a thousand times more stimulating than bureaucracy and politics.

"Now I understand why Dad passed the Crown to Adara 15 years ago, becoming a Rogue Trader Militant, creating the Voidwalker Fleet, and beginning a journey outside the Azure Galaxy and this dimension," Alix said, being able to identify with her father.

Fifteen years ago, the USKY celebrated the 500th anniversary of their first King Bruce Bel Bahamut Belmont unifying the planet Ysatnaf and leading his people to the stars.

King Bahamut made an announcement that left the entire royal family and the people currently made up of twelve races speechless: Ysatnafians, Synthetics, Klyntar, Eliksni, Au-Ras, Vieras, Lalafells, Gundaldians, Neathians, Transylians, Loboans, Thep-Khufans.

The First King of USKY decided to stop ruling his Interstellar Kingdom of 500 worlds, passing the crown and throne to the First Princess Adara Orfea Etheria B. Tsuruhime Kurata, who became the Second King in the Kingdom's history.

Without the weight of the Crown and the chains of the throne, the former Sovereign has become a Rogue Trader Militant operating outside the Azure Galaxy.

For those who don't know, the Rogue Traders are unique and powerful people individuals who serve as a combination freelance explorer, conquistador and interstellar merchant for the USKY

Alix was motivated by her father's "career change," wanting to replace the desk full of papers with the helm of a Starship.

But only the King of USKY can grant the title of Rogue Trader and the Warrant of Trade to a citizen of the kingdom, so Alix had to negotiate for ten years with her older sister to obtain the permit, the massive upgrade of the Rosedust-6, and everything else it took.

In the agreement between the Second King and the Fourth Princess there was a clause: If Alix made a monumental or history-worthy discovery, her Warrant of Trade would become permanent and hereditary, but if Alix failed, she would have to return to the Kingdom and carry out her duties as Princess until her retirement.

"I've collected tons of alien artifacts, mapped hundreds of star systems, found countless ruins and interesting planets through strange space phenomena, but none of it would be enough to leave my three older sisters speechless," Alix said, starting to bang her foot against the floor, unable to find a solution to her problem.

At that moment, Rosedust-7's computer received the data packet from the Evileye-007 satellite.

A holographic screen flashes red to highlight the urgency of the information.

"A priority level message, the satellite's AI has either been damaged or made a major discovery." Alix murmurs in a hopeful voice.

By pressing buttons on a holographic keyboard, images of a blue and green planet were displayed.

The eyes of the fourth princess observe the image with some interest.

"A Garden Planet is nothing new, I've discovered several such planets on my journey through the Segmentum Ultima, but I must study every such planet for future colonization programs." Alix said, it being one of her duties as Rogue Trader to catalog and collect information on every planet capable of supporting life.

Alix interacts with the holographic interface and enters the coordinates of this planet into the Rosedust-7's navigation system.

"It'll take me half a day to get there if I use the Impulse Thrusters and Gatespace drive at their maximum speed," Alix said, making a rough estimate.

"Studying a new planet is my best bet to be able to sail through space as far as I want," Alix said, hoping this new world could be her winning ticket.
