The other was Mihane Shirogane, Ginjirō Shirogane's daughter, a frail girl with short brown hair and glasses, the 9th Seat and vice-manager of "Silver Dragonfly."
Except for Kōga Kuchiki, the officers were friendly towards Yusuke Uchiha. Kōga Kuchiki, however, seemed displeased with Yusuke Uchiha's appointment.
Yusuke Uchiha, with his keen perception, noticed this.
Kōga Kuchiki wasn't originally a Kuchiki; he married into the family. His wife was Ginrei Kuchiki's daughter and Byakuya Kuchiki's aunt, Unnamed Kuchiki.
After joining the Kuchiki family, one of Soul Society's five great noble families, Kōga Kuchiki wore a Konsen (the white hair ornament like Byakuya Kuchiki's) and expensive jewelry to mask his humble origins and impress others, giving off a nouveau riche vibe.
His marriage into the family left Kōga Kuchiki with underlying insecurities, but his ambition channeled this into his training.
Assigned to the 6th Division by his father-in-law, Ginrei Kuchiki, Kōga Kuchiki excelled, quickly becoming a seated officer and rising to 3rd Seat.

This stemmed from his Zanpakutō's powerful ability. His Zanpakutō, Muramasa, could hypnotize other Shinigami's Zanpakutōs, even causing them to backfire on their owners.
Since mastering this ability, he'd never lost a fight against a Shinigami, leading to his arrogance.
Kōga Kuchiki planned to apply for the captaincy exam after Ginrei Kuchiki's retirement. If he defeated the examining captain, he could become captain, like Kenpachi Zaraki.
Unexpectedly, Yusuke Uchiha's arrival snatched the 6th Division captaincy Kōga Kuchiki coveted, causing considerable resentment. Kōga Kuchiki considered Yusuke Uchiha an inferior opponent.
While Yusuke Uchiha demonstrated impressive strength against Kensei Muguruma, it wasn't enough to deter Kōga Kuchiki. The stronger Yusuke Uchiha's Zanpakutō's Shikai and Bankai were, the greater the potential for backfire if controlled by Muramasa.
"Tonight, I'll show you true power!" Kōga Kuchiki thought, planning to challenge Yusuke Uchiha that evening.
He wanted to defeat Yusuke Uchiha in front of everyone, proving his superiority. However, he feared Ginrei Kuchiki's strict discipline and suppressed his impulse until nightfall.
Yusuke Uchiha noticed Kōga Kuchiki's hostility and simply smiled. He wasn't concerned by such an openly hostile opponent.
Ginrei Kuchiki also noticed Kōga Kuchiki's obvious hostility. Seeing his father-in-law's displeased look, Kōga Kuchiki quickly lowered his head, clearly fearful.
Turning her gaze from Kōga Kuchiki, Ginrei Kuchiki addressed Yusuke Uchiha with a serious expression. "Your arrival in the Seireitei is ill-timed. If not for your strength impressing the Captain-Commander, he wouldn't have so readily appointed you captain."
"Because of the recent Shinigami rebellion?" Yusuke Uchiha asked calmly.
Yusuke Uchiha already knew, from Ginjirō Shirogane's earlier briefing, that the Seireitei was engaged in conflict with rebellious Shinigami.
Due to manpower shortages, the 6th Division, responsible for protecting the nobility, had also deployed numerous Shinigami to the front lines.
Victory for the Seireitei was inevitable; while a significant number of Shinigami had rebelled against the Seireitei's authority, only the rebel leader possessed the ability to wield Bankai. In the face of overwhelming power, the rebellion was destined to be suppressed.
Ginjirō Shirogane nodded. "Precisely. To maintain decorum, the Captain-Commander refrained from questioning your origins. However, as a captain newly appointed during this time of conflict, you must demonstrate your unwavering resolve."
His voice deepened. "If your resolve and contributions do not prove commensurate with your position, your tenure as acting captain may be prolonged considerably, until such time as you have earned the complete trust of the Seireitei through the passage of time."
Yusuke Uchiha understood the implied meaning of "resolve."
"Rest assured" Yusuke Uchiha responded calmly, "upon discovery of the rebel leader's whereabouts, I will personally apprehend him and bring him back to the Seireitei for judgment."
"Excellent. Based on your performance in today's captaincy examination, I am confident in your capabilities. This concludes our meeting for today. From tomorrow onwards, the 6th Division will be under your command!" Ginrei Kuchiki declared, dismissing the assembled officers.
Ginjirō Shirogane remained behind to escort Yusuke Uchiha to his new quarters.
