"Mjolnir... can't be this powerful!" Nick Fury said, his tone laced with frustration.
Phil Coulson, who was already familiar with the contents of the diary and the nature of Mjolnir, had a purpose from the beginning of the test. He explained, "The current test results show that Mjolnir may contain an incredibly powerful force. Based on the findings from the mythical legend, it might release internal energy, transforming it into lightning to strike the enemy."
He continued, "Additionally, there could be some sort of magical rune that binds the energy within it. The weight of the hammer seems to stem from this as well. I believe only its true master can lift it."
Phil Coulson analyzed further. "It might function like a fingerprint lock, restricting access to the hammer. Right now, it's in a dormant state. But even so, Mjolnir has caused the surrounding electrons to visibly react, forming dark clouds and lightning!"
"Although the exact mechanism is still unknown, I'm certain it's related to Mjolnir," Coulson added. "For now, we can't move it. We've tried everything and failed. I suggest we establish a permanent military base here, station elite forces, and bring in scientists to see if we can crack the secrets of this hammer."
Nick Fury shook his head. "There's no need. Its owner will come here soon. I will return it."
Phil Coulson widened his eyes, turning to Nick Fury. "Are you sure, BOSS? Is that Thor?"
In Coulson's simple understanding, if Mjolnir had fallen from the sky, it likely meant that Thor was dead. After all, who would abandon such a legendary artifact? That didn't align with scientific principles.
However, Nick Fury had seen the videos from the diary and had knowledge of the future. Even if Thor had been killed by Hawkeye Barton in one timeline, he was still alive and would later become one of the three key figures of the Avengers.
Nick Fury wasn't worried. He knew that Thor would eventually become an ally, and Asgard would become an ally of Earth as well, which was a positive outcome—assuming Thor didn't get shot to death, of course.
"Yes, Thor. I believe we'll be seeing him soon," Nick Fury said confidently. "Also, make sure no one touches him. If anyone does, it will be a serious diplomatic incident."
Phil Coulson immediately caught on. "Is there a new update in Luo Chen's diary?" he asked, quickly realizing that Nick Fury's newfound knowledge could only come from a recent update in the diary.
Nick Fury nodded. "Yes, the follow-up content has been updated in Luo Chen's diary. According to the new information, we learned that Thor will indeed come here soon. Under normal circumstances, Thor will become our new ally, join the Avengers, and become one of the so-called Big Three. But there's also a timeline where Barton shot and killed Thor, triggering Loki from Asgard to lead an invasion of Earth, which would cause a diplomatic crisis between us."
Phil Coulson nodded in understanding. "That makes sense. But if that timeline plays out, the consequences would be disastrous."
Although Coulson didn't know much about Asgard, he understood that it was referred to as the kingdom of gods. Whether overly deified or not, it was an alien civilization that had been traveling through the universe long before Earth could even think of reaching beyond its own planet.
"Pass the word—full alert, but no one is to engage without my order!" Nick Fury commanded.
"Got it, BOSS!" Coulson responded.
Meanwhile, in a small town near the Mjolnir base in New Mexico, a strong man with blond hair and blue eyes paced restlessly. If Luo Chen had been present, he would have recognized this man as none other than the Prince of Asgard, Thor.
Thor had just started to adjust to his exile on Earth, his mind still clouded with the words of disappointment from his father.
He, Thor, had started the war with the Frost Giants, believing that with his strength, he could defeat them and prove to his father that he was a worthy heir and prince of Asgard. But things had gone horribly wrong, and he had almost died in a siege by the Frost Giants. Had it not been for his father, Odin, appearing just in time, Thor would have been killed.
But Thor was still unconvinced.
"You fear war, and now the country of the Frost Giants no longer exists! The Ice Titans must fear me as they once feared you!" Thor had yelled in defiance, reliving the scene in his mind.
This had only infuriated his father, Odin, more.
"Your actions are driven by vanity and arrogance, not leadership. You've forgotten what I taught you—patience is key!" Odin had scolded, his disappointment evident.
Odin had high hopes for his eldest son, perhaps more than anyone else in Asgard. As the ruler of Asgard, Odin had put all his hopes for the future on Thor. Odin himself was not as strong as the legends claimed, and Asgard, despite its reputation, was not as powerful as it seemed. In reality, Asgard was just one of many interstellar civilizations.
In this context, Odin had hoped Thor would lead Asgard into a new era of greatness.
Thor's younger sister, Hela, the Goddess of Death, had also contributed to Asgard's mighty reputation. But now, even she could pose a threat to the kingdom.
Thor's thoughts were interrupted as the weight of his father's disappointment hung heavily on him. His path forward was unclear, but he knew that if he ever returned to Asgard, things could never be the same.
