Chapter 405 - Chapter 405: The Gods Take Sides Retribution Against Asura

Chapter 405: The Gods Take Sides Retribution Against Asura

"Huh, you guys are even weaker than I thought!"

Han Li's voice rang out, jolting awake all the gods who were still conscious.

Or rather, at this point, the only ones still capable of rational thought aside from the godly officials positioned far away from the blast were at least Secondary Gods and above.

Most of them now gazed at Han Li with fear in their eyes.

After all, no one is truly unafraid of death, much less gods, who had already tasted the bliss of immortality.

And yet, they had just witnessed their fellow gods beings on their same level being erased from existence before their very eyes by Han Li. Worse yet, he had done it using a method they still couldn't comprehend.

How could anyone remain calm after that?

However, among them, a few wore a more complex expression.

These were the gods who had accepted Han Li's offered inheritances.

Thanks to his prior warning, they had remained completely unscathed.

In truth, the casualties among godly officials were minimal.

Aside from a few unfortunate ones, most of them never had the qualifications to be near the barrier breach in the first place.

And with Destruction and Life shielding them, they had only suffered injuries mere physical wounds that, given enough time, could fully heal.

For them, the greatest and most immediate threat wasn't Han Li it was the absence of the barrier.

Without protection, they were doomed to perish.

"Destruction, how about a deal?"

Ignoring the three nearby God Kings, Han Li instead addressed Destruction, who was still focused on shielding the godly officials.

"Speak."

Destruction's voice was hoarse, and he didn't even bother turning around. Maintaining his divine shield alone was already taxing enough.

He had already expended considerable energy in battle, and if not for being within the God Realm itself, plus his and Life's quick reaction in sealing off some of the dispersed energy, he would have collapsed by now.

"I won't attack the God Realm. I'll only go after them."

"And after this is over, I can even help you gather every god here under one banner."

"You and Life side with me what do you say?"

"You should already know I have my limits. At the very least, I don't gamble with innocent lives the way they do."

"Oh, and don't worry you don't even have to fight. Just maintain the status quo. So? Sound like a fair trade?"

Han Li's lighthearted voice echoed throughout the God Realm ripping away the last shreds of dignity from the three God Kings.

What had happened moments ago had been far too sudden.

Many gods still didn't understand what had transpired.

And as someone who simply couldn't stand to see others deceived, Han Li was all too happy to expose the truth.

And he wasn't lying.

For a moment, the entire realm fell into an eerie silence.

A so called enemy of the God Realm was now openly trying to sway Destruction to his side.

And the worst part?

Aside from the three involved, no one thought he was wrong.

In fact, deep down, many hoped Destruction would accept his offer.

Because up until now, most of them still had no idea why this battle had started in the first place.

All they had witnessed was the pointless deaths of their comrades and their so called "God Kings" proving utterly useless.

"Destruction!"

Asura suddenly shouted.

His instincts screamed that if he didn't interrupt Han Li now, today would be the day he died.

"Fine. Life and I agree but I cannot speak for the others."

Asura's words had the opposite effect they only made Destruction's resolve even stronger.

His voice resounded through the realm as he gave his answer to Han Li.

And after he spoke, he fell silent once more, fully devoting himself to maintaining his shield.

He never once looked back at Asura, Evil, or Kindness.

Nor did he give any further orders to the remaining gods.

And the moment his words fell

The Seven Great Sin Gods, Destruction's direct subordinates, moved without hesitation, stepping forward to share the burden of shielding the realm.

The Elemental Gods, standing beside Rong Nianbing, exchanged glances before joining them.

And a small handful of others, after moments of hesitation, simply turned away retreating to their divine mansions.

They had chosen to hide.

And as a result

Not a single god stepped forward to aid the three God Kings.

…Oh wait

Technically speaking, the ones who had rushed to help first… were already dead.

Even among their former supporters, no one dared to act.

Not after witnessing what had just happened.

Not with the knowledge that this was now a battle between God Kings themselves.

They couldn't afford to take sides.

Outside the God Realm

Asura's face darkened, his expression growing even more terrifying.

Evil and Kindness, on the other hand, simply remained silent.

But before any of them could speak

"Xiao Li."

From the direction of Douluo Star, a series of divine mental transmissions arrived.

And in the very next second

Seven brilliant streaks of light shot through the void, arriving at Han Li's side in near perfect unison.

Qian Renxue, Xiu'er, Dugu Yan, Shui Bing'er, Ye LingLing, Zhu Zhuqing

And his master, Guang Ling.

Seven figures now stood firmly at his side.

Guang Ling glanced around, taking in the gravity of the situation.

Then, as if realizing he might be the odd one out, he nudged his disciple playfully, as if to say

"Well… this is awkward, huh?"

The previous explosion had been massive. Even though there were no energy fluctuations, the blinding white light had been impossible to ignore.

Without exchanging a single word, the seven figures rushed into space, leaving the planet behind. Along the way, they convinced three others to stay back after all, their home could not be left undefended.

Technically speaking, their sudden appearance violated Han Li's carefully crafted plan.

But as Han Li glanced at the allies who had gathered at his side, then at the three isolated God Kings standing alone on the battlefield, he couldn't help but smile.

An unexpected development, something outside his calculations but the irony of it all was simply delicious.

"Since you're here, let's do this together. But only long range attacks also, Gu Yue, keep an eye on them."

With that, Han Li greeted his companions, loosed a golden arrow, and charged straight for Asura.

Somehow, at some point, the "Fate" bow had been replaced with "Yin Yang" in his hands.

Beating down a cornered dog was always more satisfying up close especially when the "dog" in question was Asura himself.

At their level, without an overwhelming rule suppression, melee combat infused with laws became the most effective and brutal form of battle.

And Han Li's close combat skills?

They had been honed and perfected in the Slaughter City.

Now, using those very skills to send Asura on his way there couldn't be a more fitting conclusion.

Asura's jaw clenched so tightly that his teeth were on the verge of shattering.

Han Li canceled the Fate Chains that bound Asura to Evil and Kindness.

Now, he was going to crush Asura completely in a head on fight.

And once Asura had just barely managed to disperse Han Li's arrow

Han Li's blade was already swinging down at him.

Sparks flew.

No sound.

And yet the cracks on the Asura Demon Sword deepened.

He blocked the first strike.

"Oh? Not bad."

"Looks like our dear former Law Enforcer still has some foundation left. You haven't completely lost your technique."

"But that was just the first strike. There are eighty more coming your way hope you can block them all."

Han Li hovered high above, grinning like a villain, his eyes locked on Asura below.

What he was using now was a technique he had personally modified from Tang Sect's Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer Method.

And here, in the endless void of space, there was no better technique to use.

Before Asura could even retort, Han Li vanished

And reappeared instantly, striking again.

This time, the Yin Yang Twin Blades, infused with Ice and Fire, Asura and Rakshasa energies, were now also coated in Destruction and Earth laws.

With the help of Space Law, there was almost no energy loss and as for raw power?

Han Li had an entire planet fueling him.

Asura, on the other hand?

He was running on fumes.

Another devastating impact.

Asura was knocked downward, plummeting.

And this time, the cracks on his sword grew even wider.

"Oh, so you like watching, huh?"

"You stared at me for over ten years, didn't you? Fine. I'll give you a real close look."

"Look all you want."

Han Li used Asura's own counterforce flashed again

And struck from below.

Having Space Law was simply unfair.

Especially when your opponent lacked the means to interfere with it.

Asura coughed blood but his grip tightened on his sword.

For the first time, he felt true regret.

Why had he never mastered Space Law?

Why had he believed that Asura Law alone was enough?

Why had he not eliminated Han Li sooner, even if it meant destroying the Douluo Plane?

But this world had no "what ifs".

Han Li saw that Asura's state had worsened and his strikes grew even more relentless.

Not giving him even a moment to breathe.

Space continuously locked him down.

Asura, Destruction, and Rakshasa Laws struck him in a rotating barrage, never letting him guess which would come next.

And at the same time

The Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer technique continued hammering his sword.

The cracks spread further.

Han Li wasn't just going to kill him.

He was going to shatter his sword.

Steal his throne.

And utterly break him.

For ten years under Asura's constant watch, Han Li had struggled to survive.

He had suffered.

And he was not a forgiving person.

This retribution had been long overdue.

After eighty consecutive blows

Asura had already coughed up enough blood to fill a small lake.

And then

The eighty first strike arrived.

This time

Han Li activated his Divine Form.

The Yin Yang Twin Blades merged

Transforming into the Clear Sky Hammer.

And before the dumbfounded eyes of all present

Han Li grew to planetary size, gripping an astronomically massive hammer.

The hammer was bathed in Asura's own energy.

It shone with the Slaughter God Domain.

And

It descended toward a now minuscule Asura.

The difference in size was absurd.

A star crushing titan, hammer raised high

About to annihilate a speck of dust.

And then floating in space, one last phrase drifted through the void.

A phrase no one but Han Li himself understood.

"Dogshit Asura this is hammer eighty."

And below

Asura finally saw his opening.

He had no other choice.

In total silence, he ignited his very bloodline, forcibly activating the Asura Blood Sword.

He poured every last drop of divine power into his shattered blade.

This would be his final attack.

The final gamble.

Win or perish.
