Chapter 16 - The Great Void

After Kaguya was sealed and the moon created. Hagaromo Otsutsuki created Ninshu to help connect people and bring peace. But there was a new threat. A cursed land spread into a massive area around where the god tree once stood. Filled with bizarre and dangerous beings the Sage of Six Paths named the Formless. The land was a labyrinth where space and time was disorganized to the point where even the rinnegan could barely comprehend the labyrinthine expanses.

Many explorers came to these lands to explore and understand them. Many would wander for days only find themselves only a mile ahead of where they were. And people got lost for months only to meet up with people who said they've only been lost for minutes. When Indra brought about Ninjutsu it experienced rapid growth in comparison to the original work because of the needs of the explorers.

In very rare cases explorers could meet and even exchange dialogue with some intelligent Formless. They called the land a Great Void and that name caught on. Hagaromo himself explored the Great Void countless times to discern its mysteries. Why it grew so much after Kaguya was sealed, what the Formless were, what was its origin? He interrogated thousands of intelligent Formless. None of them had souls he could rip out so he had to resort to asking questions and occasionally violence.

It took years a lot of luck to put together the basic details of the Great Void. It was created by a being known as the Mastermind? Because the anomalies used the English word, Hagaromo had no Idea what it meant other than that it must be some kind of name. The Mastermind was born? with the god tree? and created the Void. He had already sealed away the husk of the ten tails and divided up its chakra so Hagaromo had a deeper understanding of the god tree so he easily crossed of the Mastermind and in turn the Great Void as having come from the God Tree. He concluded it was just that the Mastermind came around at the same time as the God Tree.

The Sage of Six Paths Hagaromo sighed in resignation. He was nearly at the end of his life. His sons Ashura and Indra were fighting and the Great Void was still indiscernible. "I suppose I will have to leave it for the future." He was now very old. So in the end he simply let it go on his deathbed as his spirit established itself within the Pure Lands. Even within the pure lands as his soul monitored the dead and living world, he could not obtain more information on the Great Void.

Many more years passed and the ninja clans formed. But they fought each other much less than in the original work. The Great Void was a land filled with unique treasures, mysterious weapons that could easily surpass most jutsu in attack power were scattered all around. Even some books were valuable enough to instantly put any daring civilian explorer into the ranks of nobles because of agricultural techniques or economical strategies. Of course these books contained much other unknown knowledge with unknown terminology.

Thanks to Chizuru creating an apocalyptic land filled with the technological remnants of Kagaku along with some of his creations. And his simulations allowing him to control what he gives out to explorers to prevent rampant technological growth. Technology is developed bizarrely due to these 'artificial' injections of scientific knowledge. Chizuru has just like Mikitaka destroyed the Canon. Just like how the primitive society of the Land of Ancestors was turned into a cyberpunk society. Chizuru had transformed the cutthroat world of the warring states period into a Hunter X Hunter or Magmell kind of world where people go to explore his Great Void. The endless Warfare of the typical Naruto timeline was half replaced with the adventurous exploration of the Great Void.

"I'll place these railguns here. It should be easy access for the Uzumaki explorers and they should do quite well for their next war."

Chizuru had finally settled into the role of a mastermind. No longer just waiting for the natural flow of events to seal away kaguya and the passage of time to wipe away the sage of six paths. He was now manipulating the resources obtained and the adventures had by the explorers. Through his simulations he could determine exactly how to distribute resources within the Great Void to influence the world. Even beyond that his authority over the unseen could further manipulate the world to ensure his plans came to fruition.

Chizuru was looking at his system template progress. Centuries of just using his abilities and working for his goals had increased his template. But fundamentally he didn't know the exact mechanism for progressing his template.

"The Mastermind is a conceptual being it passively increases its power just by acting according to its concepts. My Template has increased as I have acted accordingly, similar to pathways in LOTM."

Despite centuries passing Chizuru maintained his transmigrator characteristics thanks to the timeless nature of his template. He could not confirm what actions would increase his template using simulations, the system was inscrutable.

"But despite acting perfectly my template has increased very slowly. This can be explained that in the original story the main character the Undertaker lived for millennia accumulating power but absolutely could not compete with the outer gods in terms of raw power. So the template could by nature simply take millennia or even longer to complete. But I had a massive 20% increase in my template when I expanded the Great Void. So maybe if I acted accordingly to the original Outer Gods by destroying the world I would complete my template. But my template noticeably increased when I attempted to analyze Toshiko. Instead it might be a matter of scale. I have been manipulating this entire world but..."

Chizuru looked up into the sky the fog clearing up and his hand blocking sunlight from hitting his eyes. His physical body was long freed from the god tree, freely living with the Great Void as his home.

"Maybe I could simulate the other dimensions and eventually simulate Otsutsuki that are close enough. I could simulate the entire solar system. Maybe I should simulate as far into the future as possible."

He felt like the future had opened up, a true eureka moment.

"I just need to go bigger!"
