—[Allison Pov]—

Allison was having an awful week.

Hunter business was taking a mental toll on her that she hadn't expected, nor prepared for.

She had thought that when she was introduced to their families long line of legacy that she'd be a hero in a sense, protecting people and those she cared for from monsters that roamed the night just like her family.

But now, she was caught between a line that she didn't know which side to cross to.

She had always envisioned that those that they hunted were merciless killers, creatures that fed on the misery of those they thought inferior.

And for a time that was what she had always seen from the little excursions that her father took her to, seeing families slaughtered in their homes—gory pictures that had only made her more determined in her training.

And as turned out, she was born to be a hunter.

Aside from talent, she had a gift—born from what her family called 'awakening'.

She was one of the few people in the world with such a thing.

Gifts which were a supernatural power granted only to a few, power that made them different from others.

Hers came in the form of air control, allowing her the gift to control air as she saw fit.

Since she has only had a year to get accustomed to her ability though she hasn't fully managed to control her power.

But at least she was creative in its use, with having used it alongside her bow to bend the trajectory of her arrows or speed.

She was talented atleast, or that's what her family said anyway but now she truly doubted that, or more so doubted herself.

Instead of the monsters that she expected, she instead got a teen that seemed more human that all the hunters she knew.

A teen wolf in human skin, or that's what the older generation of hunters had taken to calling her mission objective—Scott.

She to this day still didn't know what to think of the boy.

Around her the boy seemed human, sweet and charismatic even—something that had caused her to inevitably grow attached to him and those around him, Lydia and Stiles.

But he had his flaws too, something that she had only learnt while stalking him.

Aside from his lack of control for his werewolf side, he had a jealous streak that stretched for miles.

At first she had noticed that it was when she would be around his brother, Markus, another reason for her doubts.

Then as time went by, it increased and now he became jealous over Jackson and every male person she seemingly talked to.

Something that was bad for a new werewolf, as that would cause them to lose control at times.

She had been assigned to watch over the boy, obtain as much information out of him as possible in order to stake out the Alpha that turned him.

A task that had gotten nowhere as the Alpha had now started killing people, people that seemingly had no correlation to each other yet.

And for a time they had even started suspecting Markus, the brother of her subject of interest.

At first they had thought him to have been an awakened, like her. Something that she had thought they might share in common to each other.

Then by being misled by Scott, they had thought him to be the Alpha that started all this, something that she had dreaded as that would have meant that her cru...friend, was a killer.

And against her better judgement she had thought so too, with the mystery air around the boy and air of magic that all supernatural exuded.

But then came where everything started going downhill.

When she, using an ancient rune drawn to her by her mother, tried to discern his nature as a supernatural.

When she had expected the mark of a werewolf, instead she saw something much worse.

The mark of the Warlock.

A being damned for eternal damnation as a summoner of demons.

She had read through multiple articles of monsters and creatures that roamed this world, warlocks were one of the worst due to their unpredictability in their powers.

And immediately as she saw the mark, she had ran.

Straight to her parents, telling them everything everything went to shit.

But now as she sat in a meeting, right at the corner of their meeting room she wondered if what she had done was right.

She had told on her friend, someone that she had come to care for in a sense and caused that person to run—abandoning his family in doing so, just so he could survive.

" We have lost 3 hunters to the Warlock—Markus McCall." Allison's eyes darted to her father, standing tall with a saddened expression on her face.

But to what he said, she still couldn't believe it.

She didn't want to believe that the person that she had taken a shine to was a killer, just as she feared.

But the proof was there, two bodies killed while tracking him.

" While we do not have enough resources to hunt him, and with him fleeing—we have instead asked for help from the Hunter's Association to track and hunt him down before putting him down." Her father told them.

Hearing that her heart sank, eyes dropping to the floor.

She knew that she shouldn't have felt guilty, especially for the person that she had participated in hunting.

But to her defence, she hadn't chased him to kill but capture.

But aside from that, she still couldn't believe that Markus was the murderer.

Emotional attachments aside, she had reason to believe that he wasn't the one. She had told these reasons to her father but that had only seemed to fall on deaf ears.

But she truly believed that Markus was innocent.

The hunters that they had found were killed with a sword if some kind, a sword that Markus had definitely not been carrying.

And he couldn't have been the one to kill 2 fully seasoned hunters while injured. Afterall everyone had seen the place of the crash, the blood there indicated that Markus was injured.

An injured warlock killing two hunters and making one disappear was just too unbelievable to believe, but her father didn't think so.

" But even so, we still have a problem that hasn't been accounted for besides our initial job at hunting the Alpha." Her dad said before pausing." With the emergence of a Warlock, there will always be a demon that will walk this plane."

So came the reason why Warlocks were so hated.

Aside from how they summon them, which would probably mean dozens of bodies, this also meant that the demon summoned would be free from hell until banished.

And with Markus gone, they had no way to find said demon until it would have probably caused irrevocable damage.

" So every hunter is advised to be vigilant, if you spot anything of note or weird you are to call for backup immediately." Allison listened before everyone started shuffling." You may resume to your stations."

" Come on honey, let's go get some ice cream." Came a voice that melted some of her worries away.

Allison stared besides her, where her aunt Kate stared at her with a smile.

"...sure." Allison replied, a small smile returning back to her face.

Not having noticed the glean of something more in her aunt's eyes.
