Humans were regarded as the weakest race, but they were also considered the origin.
Any human had the potential to evolve into a higher being when they came into contact with mana.
In this modern and fantastical era of Earth, the number of humans currently residing on the planet is one.
How did this come to be?
Listen closely.
Four hundred years ago...
Earth was divided into four empires. Each empire had its own king, who ruled over the people within its territory. Each kingdom also had an animal that it protected and used as its symbol.
The four empires were the Northern Empire, Eastern Empire, Southern Empire, and Western Empire.
One day, cracks began to appear in the sky and in various places across the world. Among them were four enormous cracks, each large enough for an adult-sized human to enter. These four cracks appeared within the royal halls of the four empires.
As for the smaller cracks, wherever they appeared, the surrounding atmosphere and environment began to change.
Animals became rabid. Some suddenly exploded. Others gained supernatural abilities, while some transformed into terrifying monsters—they evolved.
Each empire suffered countless casualties, leading to a drastic reduction in their populations. However, those who survived began to gain supernatural abilities.
As for the royal families, each empire was reduced to only five surviving members. All the other royals had perished, with the exception of their king.
The beasts that represented each kingdom also underwent tremendous changes. Their bloodlines had awakened.
The Beast of the North
The beast of the North became an Ice Dragon—a magnificent dragon covered in pristine, crystal-blue scales. Its scales were harder than diamond, and its enormous body constantly emitted an intense, chilling aura.
The Beast of the South
The beast of the South became a Golem. Unlike a normal golem, however, this one possessed a will of its own.
With a single leap, it could easily reach the top of a 100-story building. It wasn't particularly fast, but when it curled itself into a ball and began rolling, the sheer speed at which it moved could rival that of an advanced hyper-train. Anything unfortunate enough to stand in its path would be crushed beneath its tremendous momentum.
The Beast of the East
The beast of the East became a Fire Phoenix.
Its magnificent wings were painted in brilliant shades of red and orange. Anyone foolish enough to stare directly into its eyes would find their body suddenly engulfed in flames.
With a single shriek, the Phoenix could unleash a deafening cry capable of causing unbearable pain to anyone within its range.
The Beast of the West
Last but certainly not least, the beast of the West became a Megalodon—an ancient beast revered in times long past as the King of the Ocean.
Its enormous body was five times the size of a great whale. But unlike an ordinary Megalodon, this beast possessed powerful legs that allowed it to walk on land.
However, its strength was somewhat diminished while on land.
But in the deep, vast oceans, there was no beast that could match its strength.
The moment these beasts evolved, something extraordinary happened.
From the depths of each of the four cracks present within the four empires, a colossal tower emerged. Each tower was comparable in height to a 100-story building.
The divine beast of each empire climbed to the top of its respective tower and lay down, as though waiting for something.
Suddenly—
CLANG!
A deafening metallic sound echoed across the entire world.
A massive metallic dome instantly formed around Earth, completely encasing the planet.
Darkness descended upon the world.
Panic spread everywhere as people looked toward the sky, unable to understand what was happening.
Then, the Fire Phoenix let out a tremendous shriek.
SCREECH!
Its body began to radiate an immense amount of heat, illuminating the darkness and providing light to the world below.
Just as the people began to calm down, something appeared in the sky.
A massive panel floated above the Earth.
It looked exactly like something out of a video game.
