Chapter 36 - Drake’s Dominion

Drake's Dominion

Gerard and Jian walk directly into Drake's trap. But the system's warnings have sharpened Gerard's reflexes and instincts to a razor's edge. As bullets fly and bodies fall, Drake's true power begins to reveal itself. This is no ordinary hunt. This is war.

---

21:30 – The Killing Floor – Drake's Ambush

The floodlights glared down like twin suns, burning away the darkness and leaving Gerard and Jian exposed. The room stretched out in all directions, a cavernous chamber of concrete and steel.

Rust clung to the heavy chains swaying from the ceiling, their metal links groaning like the anguished dead. Pools of stagnant water reflected the harsh light, broken by the scattered corpses of guards Gerard and Jian had already butchered.

The air was thick with the stench of blood, oil, and rot.

Drake's voice crackled over the intercom, rich with arrogance. "I've been expecting you, Walker. Quite the trail of destruction you've left behind. Almost admirable."

Gerard's eyes swept the room, noting every armed figure, every potential escape route. His breathing remained steady, his focus absolute.

Jian flashed a grin. "Well, boss. Guess they rolled out the red carpet for us."

Gerard's reply was cold. "We're not here for the reception. We're here to kill the host."

A tense silence. Then, the gunfire erupted.

---

21:32 – The Killing Floor – The Assault

Bullets tore through the air, their thunderous reports echoing through the chamber. The armed men fired with cold precision, their muzzles flashing like staccato lightning.

Gerard's Enhanced Reflexes guided his body like a machine, his movements impossibly fluid as he ducked, rolled, and returned fire. The sound of gunfire was a chaotic symphony, the air thick with heat and violence.

Jian danced through the chaos with his knives, his laughter a madman's delight. Bodies fell wherever he passed, his blades cutting through flesh with merciless precision.

Gerard's system burned within him, his awareness stretching outward to encompass every potential threat.

---

[Ding! Enhanced Combat Awareness Activated]

- All enemy positions highlighted.

- Optimal kill routes calculated.

- Weaknesses detected: Structural support beams. Possibility of bringing down the roof on the enemy's heads.

---

The information poured into Gerard's mind, his eyes flicking toward the rusted steel beams lining the upper structure. A plan began to form.

---

21:35 – The Killing Floor – Turning the Tables

Gerard's gunfire snapped upward, bullets punching into the beams. Metal creaked and groaned, the sounds of stress and decay building to a dangerous crescendo.

Drake's voice returned, now laced with fury. "You think you can bury me under my own damn roof?"

Gerard's smile was cruel. "Why not? Trash belongs underground."

More bullets shredded the supports, the groan of metal now a howl of imminent destruction. Dust and debris rained down, and the men surrounding them hesitated, their discipline faltering.

Jian took advantage of their confusion, slipping between them like a shadow made flesh. His knives whispered death, slicing through throats and arteries with elegant brutality.

More beams buckled, the ceiling above beginning to tremble. The air was filled with the dull, rumbling growl of impending collapse.

---

[Ding! System Notification – Structural Collapse Imminent]

- Destroying the beams has successfully disrupted the enemy formation.

- Recommended Action: Escape before the structure collapses.

---

Gerard's eyes narrowed. "Jian, we're done here. Time to leave."

Jian wiped blood from his cheek, a manic gleam in his eyes. "Aw, but I was just starting to have fun."

Gerard turned, his tone leaving no room for argument. "Move. Now."

Jian sighed but fell in step beside him, their boots splashing through filthy water as they made their retreat.

Behind them, the ceiling continued to groan, its metal frame twisting under the stress of Gerard's assault.

---

21:40 – Outside the Plant – The Narrow Escape

They burst through a side door just as the roof gave way, a thunderous roar consuming the night. The air trembled with the violence of the collapse, dust billowing outward like a living thing.

The plant's heart had been shattered.

Gerard's breathing was heavy, his body slick with sweat. But his eyes remained sharp, his mind already preparing for the next step.

Jian laughed, his voice still breathless from the thrill of the fight. "You know, boss, that was some damn fine work. Nothing like a little destruction to get the blood pumping."

Gerard's response was a dark grunt. "We're not done. Drake's still alive."

Jian's grin widened. "Then let's go finish the job."

---

[Ding! New Mission Unlocked – Drake's End]

---

Gerard's eyes narrowed, his rage simmering just beneath the surface. Drake thought he could lure him into a trap and survive the encounter.

He was about to learn how wrong he was.
