19:30 – The New Hideout – Aftermath

The night had deepened, its darkness an inky blackness that seemed to drink in the city's neon glow. The air was thick with the stench of gunpowder, blood, and sweat, the acrid tang filling the room like a toxin.

Gerard's chest rose and fell with steady breaths as he stared at the man tied to the chair. His eyes remained cold, even as the man's breathing grew more ragged with every passing second.

Jian lounged against the wall, his clothes speckled with fresh blood, his grin one of pure satisfaction. The man enjoyed his work a little too much.

"Drake, huh?" Jian wiped a trickle of blood from his lip with the back of his hand. "Now there's a name worth hunting."

Gerard's eyes were still locked on the man. "Where is he?"

The man's voice was a strained rasp. "You think... you can just... walk up to him? Drake's a goddamn nightmare. You'll never touch him."

Gerard's voice was low, calm, and lethal. "Where?"

The man swallowed hard, his resolve cracking under the pressure. "An old processing plant. Abandoned, just outside the city. They've been using it as a base for weeks."

Gerard nodded. "And how many men does he have?"

"Too many for you to handle."

Jian snickered. "Good thing he's not alone, then."

The man's gaze darted between the two of them, desperation written across his bloodied face. "You're insane. Both of you."

Gerard's smile was nothing short of cruel. "Maybe. But you're the one who's going to die tonight."

The man's eyes widened. "No... please—"

A single gunshot cut him off.

Jian whistled. "Merciless. I like it."

Gerard's eyes remained cold. "Burn the body. Make sure nothing remains."

Jian's grin only widened. "With pleasure."

- Your perception of incoming threats has increased, allowing you to anticipate attacks before they occur.

- Environmental awareness has improved. You can now detect hidden enemies and weak points in structures.

---

The system's screen shimmered before him, but this time, the message was different.

---

[Ding! System Warning – Resolve Faltering]

- Your hesitation in executing the prisoner is noted.

- The system demands blood and vengeance.

- Failure to maintain ruthlessness will result in the degradation of your abilities.

- Vengeance must be absolute. Never hesitate. Never show mercy.

---

Gerard felt the cold claws of the system dig into his mind, the demand for cruelty sinking deep into his thoughts.

It wasn't just a tool. It was a damn parasite. But one he couldn't afford to disobey.

He exhaled sharply, his eyes hardening. "We move on Drake tonight."

20:00 – Wei Estate – The Schemer's Unease

Madam Wei sat in her study, the room bathed in warm gold light from a crystalline chandelier above. The scent of expensive incense clung to the air, mingling with the subtle perfume of the silk drapes framing the windows.

The room was a testament to power. Every piece of furniture was crafted from the finest materials money could buy. Marble floors polished to a mirror-like sheen. A mahogany desk large enough to intimidate anyone who sat before it.

But Madam Wei's fingers drummed against the polished wood, her composure fraying at the edges.

"Meiying!" Her voice cracked like a whip.

The door opened, and her daughter entered, her expression carefully composed.

"Yes, Mother?"

Madam Wei's eyes narrowed. "I want everything you've learned about Li Xian. Every move he's made since leaving the hospital. I don't care if you have to bribe, blackmail, or break someone's fingers to get the information."

Meiying's gaze flickered with something unreadable. "Of course, Mother. I'll see to it."

Madam Wei studied her daughter's face. The girl had always been ambitious, but something about her now seemed... different.

"And, Meiying?"

"Yes?"

Madam Wei's smile was as thin as a blade. "If I find out you're hiding anything from me... our family's loyalty will be the least of your concerns."

Meiying's voice didn't waver. "I understand."

[Ding! Mission Progress: Seeds of Betrayal]

- Meiying has begun gathering information for Gerard.

- Her loyalty remains uncertain.

- Next Step: Use her knowledge to dismantle Madam Wei's empire from within.

20:30 – The City's Edge – Approach to the Plant

The night air was thick and humid, clinging to Gerard's skin like a second layer. The rumble of distant traffic echoed from the city, a reminder of the world that continued to spin, oblivious to the chaos boiling beneath the surface.

The old processing plant loomed in the distance, its rusted metal frame silhouetted against the night sky like the broken bones of some forgotten beast. Chain-link fences topped with razor wire encircled the area, and armed guards patrolled the perimeter with military precision.

Jian eyed the plant with barely contained glee. "This is going to be a bloodbath."

Gerard's eyes remained locked on their target. "We go in quiet. No alarms. If Drake hears us coming, he'll slip through our fingers."

Jian pouted. "Where's the fun in that?"

Gerard's voice was low, his tone carved from stone. "The fun comes later. For now, we hunt."

The darkness stretched before them, deep and all-consuming.

And Gerard intended to drag every one of his enemies into it.
