Shantel's brow arched. "You ran into me. And if you want to dramatize it, at least make it look real."
The gasps and scandalized murmurs intensified and a waiter even came and knelt beside the fallen girl, offering her a hand while others began recording on their phones.
An older woman in a pastel pantsuit shook her head disapprovingly. "That's no way to treat people, regardless of status. There are better ways to settle whatever dispute you had."
"I don't even know her!" Shantel snapped. "Why would I go around body-checking strangers?"
"Maybe she didn't see her…" someone said and for a moment, it looked like she was supporting Shantel until she added, "She was probably rushing off to seduce someone's husband again."
"She's got a reputation, that one."
"She's just like they say," someone whispered. "Always so arrogantly doing whatever she liked without an ounce of remorse."
There was a triumphant smirk on the girl's face as she heard more people speak against Shantel.
