"Enough," came a cold voice behind them with such finality that left no room for further debate.
The crowd parted instinctively to reveal Richard in his impeccable dark suit, his gaze locked on his mother.
"Richard," Josephine gasped, momentarily startled.
But he didn't acknowledge her. His eyes went straight to Shantel.
"You okay?" he asked in a much softer tone that made Sandra's leg go jelly under her. Even Shantel was not spared as she felt something stirr deep within her.
She stared at him, stunned. "I'm fine."
He nodded once. Then turned to Sandra, "if you want to whip sympathy to yourself, don't go about accusing people randomly."
