"How well do you know Xavier?" Princess Rania asked without thinking. Since she left his room yesterday, she hadn't been able to get him out of her head. She didn't understand it, but there was something about him that pulled her in without warning. It was strange and confusing. She barely knew the man, yet her heart had already started acting like a fool.
All her life, she thought her brother would arrange a marriage for her with someone like Lord Rowland or one of the respected sons of the Xylonia council. She never imagined love would play any part in it. Her mother had once mentioned the idea of marrying her off to Lord Rowland, and though the king had never said anything in return, she always believed it would happen. Lord Rowland was close to the family, her father's friend, trusted and known. That made sense.
But what didn't make sense was falling for a servant. A man who had only just found his way into the palace.
