Not much was said between them afterwards, but Orpheus held her tenderly in his arms. Lady Karina stroked his hair as silence passed between them, carding her fingers through the tangled curly locks.
Orpheus seemed docile, like a beast who had been tamed, as he rested with his head pressed against her bosom. It was like a child clinging to his mother for warmth, and he closed his eyes when she began to hum.
The melody, even without any lyrics, was like sweet music to his ears. She sounded so angelic, so otherworldly, that it was enough to caress the darkness in him.
For a moment, he thought that her humming washed away some of the darkness inside him, like it was restoring what had been lost, but if she stopped just for a second to catch her breath, the evil would return.
There was no doubt that the lady possessed magic even if she didn't reveal it.
"Orpheus?" She suddenly spoke up, smiling as she watched him nuzzle his nose against her bosom. "May I ask something of you?"
