Dinner between the four of them was mostly held in silence, but it didn't take a genius to notice how possessive Orpheus had suddenly become of Lady Karina. She was placed closely beside him, and he seemed attentive to whatever she wanted during their meal.
It made for a tense atmosphere, but Lyall and Azelas didn't dare to question anything. They knew their liege was already fuming since they allowed the lady to slip away unnoticed; hence, they needed to tread carefully.
At some point, Orpheus dismissed both of them. He ordered them to remain nearby, but he wanted the leisure of having Lady Karina all to himself without disturbance.
"There was a time when you did not want to dine with me, my lady," Orpheus said, watching her carefully as if he couldn't take his eyes off her. "What has changed since then? Or is it something more that you want this time?"
