The following morning, Xia Weiwei woke up feeling as if nothing unusual had happened.
Her temperature was normal.
Her head did not hurt, and the weakness in her body had disappeared. If Mo Shian had not been sitting beside her with a thermometer in his hand, she might have assumed the previous day was another strange dream.
Mo Shian removed the thermometer from beneath her tongue and examined the result.
"Thirty-six point seven."
"I told you I was fine."
"We will check again in an hour."
"Shian, you have checked my temperature six times since I woke up."
"Seven."
"That does not make it better."
Mo Shian put the thermometer on the bedside table.
"Gu Yan said we should continue monitoring you."
"Gu Yan also said I was stable before he left last night."
"Stable is not the same as completely recovered."
Weiwei looked at the dark circles beneath his eyes.
"Did you sleep at all?"
"I slept."
"For how long?"
Mo Shian did not answer.
