"You had enough time to pick up your phone."
Weiwei knew he had seen it lying on the worktable.
"I almost called you."
"But you didn't."
"I was afraid you would think I was crazy."
Mo Shian stared at her.
"You thought I would judge you while you were bleeding and experiencing hallucinations?"
"When you say it like that, it sounds foolish."
"It was foolish."
Weiwei lowered her eyes.
"I'm sorry."
Mo Shian was angry, but seeing her pale face prevented him from saying anything harsher.
He put the stone on the bedside table, away from her, and held her hand with both of his.
"I would rather you call me over something that turns out to be imaginary than remain silent about something dangerous."
"I know."
"You promised not to handle danger alone."
"I broke that promise."
"At least you admit it."
"I only wanted to test it one more time."
"And that test left you unconscious with a temperature of almost forty-three degrees."
Weiwei had not known her fever was so high.
