Chapter 495 - Chapter 495: Romantic Feeling?

The Guardians of the Galaxy would appear sooner or later.

There were changes, though. They formed much later, and Yondu joined them. Noah actually thought this version was better. A Guardians team with a clear purpose was far superior to their previous scattershot behavior. With Yondu and Rocket Raccoon-two genuinely sharp minds-around, Peter Quill might finally be kept in check.

Maybe.

Noah also had other reasons for letting them come together.

Magical materials.

Those things existed on Earth and could also be purchased on Xandar. The problem was that most Earth mages didn't leave the planet. The ones who did usually felt that Earth restricted their growth, so they found ways to leave. But if magical materials were abundant enough, would they still feel that way?

"And if I resell those materials, that's another long-term income stream," Noah thought calmly.

He wasn't stupid.

He might not be obsessed with experiments-unless they involved himself-but that didn't mean he avoided them. Ample magical materials were necessary. With enough supply, he could easily open shops in Diagon Alley and Knockturn Alley, then expand into magical communities worldwide.

The income would be absurd.

And Noah didn't mind alien planets. Going out was also a way to broaden horizons. Before, the problem had always been strength. Without enough power, leaving Earth was dangerous. Now, that problem barely existed.

Noah even wondered if he should create something like a tourism department.

Let mages travel.

Of course, landing spots mattered. Peaceful, stable locations were ideal. Xandar no longer had the Power Stone, so Thanos probably wouldn't bother with it. The only real issue would be the Kree, but Xandar's defenses were largely intact. Even if they couldn't win outright, they could stall and call for help.

Odin might even welcome it.

More excuses to expand Asgard's influence.

But that wasn't Noah's concern.

After seeing off the newly formed Guardians of the Galaxy, Noah prepared to leave as well. This trip had been unexpectedly fulfilling. He was in a good mood.

Looking at Hermione beside him, an idea surfaced.

"Hermione," Noah said casually, "how about we fly back?"

"Fly back?" Hermione blinked. "You mean... without space magic?"

Noah smiled and nodded.

A faint golden glow wrapped around both of them.

He had reached Tier 9.

At this level, the difference from Tier 8 was absolute. Noah could now traverse interstellar space with his own power. He'd never bothered before. Space magic, teleportation-those were faster and simpler.

Noah rarely did meaningless things.

But now?

He wanted to.

He wanted to feel it.

The feeling of flying through the stars, like the protagonists he'd once watched.

As for what Tier 9 meant?

The tens of thousands of Chitauri souls he'd incinerated in one breath could testify.

Noah pulled Hermione into his arms, ignoring her startled gasp, and soared upward.

A golden meteor crossed the starry sky.

"Tier 9... and the dragon form at Tier 10?"

In Kamar-Taj, the Ancient One looked at Noah with rare surprise.

His growth rate was absurd.

Even she felt shaken.

"Yes," Noah nodded lightly. "After absorbing Ego's energy."

Even to him, it felt unreal.

But it was real.

Especially the dragon form. It had crossed the boundary between mortal and divine.

"That's incredible," the Ancient One said, sipping her tea. "I heard about Ego from His Majesty Odin. I never imagined such a lunatic existed. He even left seeds on Earth, though we only found one."

Finding remnants left behind by a Tier 10 entity was never easy.

Even for her.

Ego was cautious.

And not weak.

As for Noah defeating him?

Unbelievable.

And yet, logical.

Ego was ancient. Older than Earth itself. Even a normal human that old would be toothless and immobile. The fact that Ego could still exert Tier 8 power-and occasionally brush Tier 10-was already remarkable.

But he never crossed that final threshold.

He stagnated.

Tier 10 was close to eternity, but not immunity from decay.

Without transformation, erosion was inevitable.

"But there's still regret," Noah sighed. "I didn't find what I wanted."

"What are you looking for?" the Ancient One asked.

"Light element. High-dimensional."

The Ancient One frowned.

Light was rare.

The only similar force she'd encountered came from winged beings who once spread faith on Earth. And light was troublesome. It tempted. It was harder to resist than darkness.

Light was pure.

And that purity hid its other side.

It wasn't less dangerous than darkness-people just didn't see it.

Humans needed belief.

Light fed that need perfectly.

Mages understood this. Some still chose to follow it. That was why Noah had run into that mess in America.

"To this day," the Ancient One said slowly, "I still don't know how many elements your domain holds."

Noah wanted more elements.

That could only mean one thing.

Domain expansion.

A mage with a domain and one without were worlds apart. She knew that well.

"My domain has four base elements," Noah said. "Plus time and space. Like yours."

"That's all?" She didn't believe him.

"Alright," Noah admitted. "My dragon form benefited the most. Tier 10. But I need matching high-dimensional light power."

"...Your dragon form reached Tier 10?"

This time, the Ancient One was truly shocked.

After a long pause, she nodded.

Now it made sense.

No one would abandon a Tier 10 dragon avatar.

"I'm sorry," she sighed. "I can't help you. Even if I negotiated with Yahweh, he'd refuse. He only grants power to believers."

"It's fine," Noah replied calmly. "We'll take it step by step."

The Ancient One changed the subject.

"You brought your little girlfriend this time?"

"Yes."

A faint smile appeared at the corner of Noah's lips.

The stars.

The warmth in his arms.

For the first time, Noah felt something unfamiliar.

Romance.
