Life As the Vampire God Chapter 20 - The Resurrection

I reappeared, hovering in my ghostly form in the upper area inside of the Power Core Temple. I glanced toward the floor. Standing directly below my hovering form and blissfully unaware of my presence was my dear old dad. I called out, "Lucifer!"

He spun around and simultaneously pulled out a red blade at lightning speed. The blade looked like a tooth. He looked up, that was when I noticed that his eyes were a bit dimmer than usual. "Draven? Is that you?"

Who else would it be but I quelled my smart aleck remark and settled for a boring and polite, "yes."

"Well, your consciousness must have resurrected because," he paused and immediately continued, "it's 2:40 PM, you have 5 minutes, my son."

This IS serious for him to call me THAT, I thought with a twinge of regret. Out loud I said, "Copy that. How to defeat Ares?" I hoped that we were on the same page. I made an executive decision and decided not to tell him about BEZMIC.

Without skipping a beat Lucifer continued. "Ares, even separated into TEN people (for lack of a better descriptive term) has a central body. Observe closely to try and figure out which one of the bodies is the top Ares leader."

I knew this observational analysis would be critical to our success. I confirmed my understanding with, "will do."

Lucifer switched enemies and focused on talking about another enemy. "As for Hercules, he is obviously wearing the skin of the Nemean Lion which is impenetrable on the actual Lion but there will be small openings somewhere and you, my son (there he goes again with our lineage!) will have to find the weak areas as fast as you can."

"Duly noted. I've got that!" I responded.

Lucifer then added. "I need to make certain of something."

This can't be good, I thought but managed to say, "What might that be?" And waited.

Lucifer continued, "you have the ability to absorb others," he elaborated, "taking their powers all the way up to their full potential. I'm sure you are aware of this."

"All true," I said. "I've been aware of this ability." Where was Lucifer going with this?

"A war is looming whether you like it or not," he paused for emphasis. "Listen very carefully, regardless of the circumstances, any circumstances, you will NOT absorb them. Am I understood?"

I quickly responded, perhaps too quickly! "Fine." Like any disobedient son, I responded the way I did because I knew that was what Lucifer, my dad, wanted to hear. Besides, the clock was ticking off the minutes and there was no time for futile discord about behavior of the battlefield.

Lucifer affirmed hearing what I said with a single word, "good." He sighed. Just at that same nanosecond the main Temple door blasted open. It sounded like thunder. Both Attila and Achilles bodies came spiraling into the room and crashed landed onto the unyielding stone floor. Behind them Hercules strode calmly into the room, wearing a smirk that I wanted to wipe off his mouth with my sharpest knife blade.

Attila gasped out, "sorry Lucifer, I can't seem to kill this smirking god."

Hercules responded to Attila, "and I can't seem to kill you either, matey!"

"Matey?" I didn't have any time to ponder that.

Just outside the now smashed and splintered main Temple door, I could hear and view the "Robot Dog Ares" shoot multiple rockets. One connected and successfully shot down one of my main ships which prior to now looked like a gigantic pentagon-shaped objects floating in the sky. It's big but not compared to the biggest ship I got.

Without warning, Hercules leapt straight up into the air and slammed directly into the Power Core and dropped back to the stone floor wearing that infernal smirk. Disabling The Power Core was his military mission, and he hit the bullseye without any resistance from us. My fury quickly fizzled replaced by stark disbelief when I heard the verbal warning from the Power Core.

"INTEGRITY at 91%." All 5 Guardians instantly appeared including the Alpha Guardian.

The party then increased by five more! Half of the 10 Ares's bodies lazily sauntered into the room. We were now looking at the Metal, Demon, Sorcerer, Enlarged and Ghost Ares. They quickly surrounded the Metal Ares!

"Draven," Lucifer shouted, "the metal one is the main body."

Metal Ares responded with, "wait a moment, you said Draven." The core went from white to bright Arctic white and my conscious self was absorbed into the core.

Hercules bellowed, "DESTROY THE CORE NOW!" The Ares's and Hercules attacked.

The Power Core PA broke through the noise: 60, 59, 58 …

Sorcerer Ares blasted a quick shot at the core and was promptly intercepted by one of the Guardians.

"INTEGRITY AT 82%."

The Power Core PA countdown continued: 41, 40, 39 …

Once again Hercules leapt upward and punched the Power Core dead center.

"INTEGRITY AT 51%."

"20, 19, 18" … could be heard in the distance.

Hercules leapt up again but was blasted away by Lucifer who stood in the midst of the chaos looking all calm and collected. Since HELL was his Kingdom, this clash would be a mere skirmish. Or, not? Hard to tell what he was really thinking.

The landing was a hard thud. Hercules landed partly on the backside of Attila's kneecap. Attila glowed white and immediately exploded! With his weak spot destroyed, the Demon Sorcerer part of him emerged and without hesitation, he rose up into the air for all to see.

The Power Core PA blared: 3, 2, 1, 0 …

YOU ALL ARE GOING TO DIE!!!

The compromised core shot an Arctic white energy beam at the ground. A white ball formed, shrank then exploded. Its massive aftershock waves were methodically sending everybody and everything in its path slamming into the walls surrounding the area.
