Chapter 25 - Alexander

Life As the Vampire God Chapter 25 - Alexander

Well, he's here. Damn!

Deep in thought, I walked with purposeful determination over to the wall on the backside of the forge room. I then passed through the wide doorway, made my way up the spiral staircase which conveniently opened into a long hallway leading to my palatial living quarters. I opened my door, passed through my bedroom without any hesitation and walked straight out onto my private balcony. Once there, I released a long loud sigh.

I would always benefit from this panoramic view of the cityscape. My eyes automatically focused on a swirl of angelic-demon energy currently crashing through the city in hot pursuit of Robot Ares. I allowed myself a slight smile. The robot was maneuvering well. I was pleased.

Robot Ares was leaping from building to building trying to evade the energy's mad pursuit. Out of nowhere, all of the other Ares's popped into the chase scene and before my eyes they combined to create the true form of Ares and he disappeared. The energy stopped moving. I leaned forward slightly in order to gain a better sightline. That was when I saw a figure in the swirling energy. The energy disappeared and guess what, floating as though he was vacationing on a raft in the idle of a calm lake was the Nephbion Alexander! He nodded at me then floated further upward into the sky all the while looking directly at me.

"Ah, Draven, there you are, you sly devil." He grinned and slowly floated towards me.

"Where's Sermoff?" I asked. I was in no mood for pleasantries.

"Scouting."

Joseph walked up behind me. "There's enemies beneath this balcony," he paused then continued, "Angels, Demons, one weak Nephilim and one weak Cambion."

Alexander taunted, "I know you want to absorb me but you're not strong enough.

I tilted my head slightly arching my right eyebrow a fraction. I observed Alexander's eyes narrow a hair's breadth and replied, "I'm about to be."

I formed an energy ball and threw it at the ground. My gorgeous balcony instantly exploded revealing Alexander's troops grouped below, and in that nanosecond, we all fell. I spun around while extending my blade. I sliced the Nephilim's neck open and absorbed all his essence. I then stabbed him in the chest, the death blow. One less Nephilim. The Cambion immediately turned into smoke and flew away. I then kicked the blonde angel, bit him in the wrist thus releasing the Lord venom which is the first time I've done so. I released him, he grabbed my blade, then flew toward the only two demons present and decapitated them. Out of the corner of my eye I watched the last angel fly away. I yelled. "Get higher in the air, now!"

"Got it!" Joseph acknowledged.

The blonde angel instantly followed the verbal protocol. "Got it," he echoed.

The three of us flew into the air, free from the dust and debris below. I glanced over at the angel. "Your name is Steve, correct?"

His eyes widened in surprise. "How could you know?"

"Easy, I can see your memories."

"Ummm, why not, right?" He paused, "I'm feeling these newfound powers," he paused again, "how do my Lord's powers work?"

"Quite simply, you're not part of the Lüxe bond; however, this is a sub class that only a Lord is in, and in this instance, you will revive after 7-days as long as part of the Luxe bond is active."

"How many Lords can you make?" He sounded like an eager child. This pleased me.

It was a fair question so I told him. "It's timed or, just like the generals, I need to gain power. I have the ability to control 80% of your mind. I'm nice about that so your only orders are to now serve me, and don't die."

Steve muttered under his breath, "real nice." He flew away.

"HOW DARE YOU TAKE OUT MY PEOPLE!" Alexander was angry and didn't care who knew it.

I inhaled, waiting for the show to commence. Alexander had my attention. He didn't disappoint.

White and black blasted out of him. This energy surrounded the area around him all the while forming an energy replica of himself around his body so he looked tiny inside this energy body.

Hercules appeared on the scene, promptly uprooted an entire building, tossing it at Alexander and flew at him like a guided missile locked onto its target. Alexander reacted with a tornado kick, first deflecting the building with his reactionary rebuttal kick, then he spun and kicked Hercules. The force of the kick sent a shockwave and nearby buildings crumbled to the ground.

"Hercules," I directed, "separate him from his energy body!"

The third planet conqueror ship which had been released while I was in the forge room was moving slowly and silently into position above me. I watched while a double door on the underside of this vessel opened. A huge energy gun immediately filled the void, took aim and shot Alexander. The force knocked him out of the sky. He landed on a nearby building. In the meantime, Cain jumped into view from his position between the buildings and threw his blade at a shocked Alexander.

Alexander smacked the blade aside and kicked Cain with such force that he found himself crashing through some buildings. Some of the witches stopped fighting in mid hand-to-hand combat. They instantly started forming ropes and swords which they then used to swing around and attack vampires more easily. Alexander got back up. I took a moment to scan the distance. I witnessed Elemental fighting a group of witches and lo and behold, Sermoff was in the middle of the group. Quicker than a lightning strike, Sermoff jumped at Elemental, blasting his head right off from his shoulders. In response, dozens of lightning bolts showered down around Elemental's body and detached head. Both vanished within this electrical shower. Sermoff and I locked eyes. He jumped into an alleyway. Alexander ran toward the inner wall which separated the city from the vast training fields. The wall mounted weapons began shooting at him.

I commanded, "raise the shields!" The wall was glowing. Blackish red energy beams flowed from within the wall, first covering its sturdy form then lifting 1000-feet skyward but only on the front of the wall. Every mile or so my vampire symbol, a black and red face, open mouth with fangs was being projected in the air behind the shield.

Alexander's grand attack ended the second he crashed against the shield.

Joseph appeared next to me. "You know, Draven, he could just fly over the shield."

"True," I nodded in agreement, then continued, "he could but he'll want an entire army to protect him, and since the shield completely surrounds the entire wall in the capital, he cannot bring an army in with him undetected. He's moving."

We both watched as Alexander backed up and rammed into the shield. It began flickering. I said what we were both thinking. "I hope the shield holds."

A greenish purple glow hovered along the skyline above the outside of the city. Suddenly the glowing shimmer stopped. In its place, a hovering Sermoff! Always one for theatrics, he spread his arms wide, his voice boomed out across the landscape. "You did this to yourself Draven! Your people take too long to revive. Guess what dear boy, they won't be able to help you." He paused the added in a voice laden with contempt, "Once I permanently kill you, I will reshape the World in my image!"

In that nanosecond I really wanted to rip him to pieces with my bare hands. Fortunately for me, I had a mind-altering revelation. I realized that my vision from all those years ago had taken place in Easlum. The dark figure floating above Easlum was Sermoff and the blackish white figure was none other than Alexander in his Avatar form. Wait! Suddenly, I felt a self-induced gut punch in my stomach. Sermoff had just mentioned generals as though some had been killed.

I tried to contact all of my generals, already sensing that Achilles and Cain were dead.

Sermoff took that exact moment to make his statement move. He dive-bombed directly at the outer wall and in the process formed a giant stake. Kudos! (means achievement) It was a multipurpose action; he crashed into the wall while plunging the stake in to a vampire's chest. The stricken vampire turned toward me. I was looking into the face of Mr. Great. An anger like no other I had experienced to that point surged through me and my body glowed red. Joseph backed up. I sent the red energy of Destruction on a bull's eye course at Sermoff.

Sermoff's eyes instinctually widened. He tried to dodge my attack but the blast knocked him off his feet. The blast continued onward, efficiently destroying 5 city blocks beyond the target. Sermoff caught himself by mere inches and flew between 2 buildings still standing on the outer perimeter which had withstood the passing blast.

"The power of Bezmic!" Joseph stammered.

Satisfied. I then turned my full attention to Alexander and fired a blast. Perfect aim! The blast blew his Avatar legs clean off and he collapsed. The new Avatar legs had already started to form. Since he was concentrating on forming his new legs, the chest of his Avatar opened up giving me the perfect opportunity. I blasted his chest. The force blew him out of his Avatar which promptly disappeared leaving him exposed. I rushed him. We returned to basics, good old hand to hand combat, and occasionally throwing blasts.

Finally, I got the upper hand when his right foot slipped. In that instant, I grabbed his right arm, threw him into the air, caught him on his way downward and slammed him into the ground. That felt so good!! My face started to glow red, I felt the tingle only I had no time to enjoy the feeling. That Cambion from before appeared out of thin air and kicked me behind my left knee. I stumbled. He leaped a fraction to the left and I instinctively threw an angel blast which sent him crashing into a building.

Alexander's voice unexpectedly pierced through the chaos pleading, "please … no."

"You attacked me first!" I bellowed more out of frustration than rage. His fate was already sealed and he knew it. My face glowed bright red, just like right before I had absorbed Bezmic. Alexander began turning into energy.

"I swear this to you Draven!" Alexander rolled at the top of his lungs which sent out shockwaves. "If I survive this I will pay you tenfold!" His transition into total energy was swift as it entered my chest. I felt an overwhelming amount of power surging through me, then it subsided. Joseph landed next to me.

I heard him exhale. "Wow, you just absorbed a Arch-Nephbion." He paused, gave me a piercing look and added, "that little coup of yours will eventually make you the most powerful being in the universe."

I raised my hand, "let's not get ahead of ourselves. We don't even know how me absorbing an Arch-Nephbion works."

Joseph nodded; his expression sobered. "True, but it's still a feat nonetheless."

"Unfortunately, I assume the Nephbion power resets itself because I can't feel the power anymore so I'll just have to wait." I looked at Joseph's face.

"Meaning what exactly?" he characteristically countered as only a former Roman politician could.

"A little history for you. When Alexander was born, he began his life with almost no power."

"Ah, I remember, yes."

"That being said," I continued, "on a Nephbion scale, I'm a baby in the woods so to speak, just starting out."

Joseph countered, "Oh, all right but at least you are strong in other areas."

Movement from the rubble altered the focus. The Cambion walked slowly out of the building from the gaping hole, the exact location of his direct hit. Dust and bits of rubble stuck to him.

Joseph glanced over and asked. "Draven, where is the Lucifer blade?"

"What?" The Cambion had snared my attention. I kept my eyes in that direction and replied, "I placed it in my personal storage pocked dimension."

"You killed my master," the cambion yelled.

"I will be your new and permanent one," I chuckled. "I'm not suggesting it either."

His voice was a smooth monotone. "I'm Jake and you will never be my new forever master. Never!"

"That was a statement of fact, Jake. Again, I'm not asking, I'm telling you." In the blink of an eye, I rushed him, sank my teeth into his neck and released the lord venom. He collapsed, growling. "You are mine now."

Jake hoarsely whispered. "I guess I am."

I glanced around saying. "Anyone imported, retreat into my Palace, now!" I flew over the shield followed closely by Joseph, Ares, Hercules, War, Death and Death Dealer. Unfortunately, Luck, Mr. Great, Cain, Achilles and Elemental did not survive the assault, they were dead, for now anyways. I continued my mental inventory. Constructs is guarding the all-important power core. Laughably, Sermoff tried to follow but every weapon within a quarter mile radius shot at him. He valiantly tried to dodge the lethal barrage but as expected, he was hit and went spinning unceremoniously into the city.

"We need to regroup and wait for the dead generals to revive." I glanced around then added, "we have less than six hours now." We continued onward to our destination, my palace.
