Chapter 176: Rodan Splits the Sea!
After delivering a series of resounding slaps, Chang Wei still felt unsatisfied.
Since he had already created so many grand scenes, why not go a step further and stage an even more iconic spectacle?
"A more classic scene… something imbued with divinity…"
Chang Wei pondered.
The only figure that came to mind was the legendary pretentious king, Agul.
Rodan, dazed from enduring millions of tons of force slapping it silly, nearly decided to play dead.
But just then, it felt an overwhelming force pulling at its head, as if trying to rip it clean off!
"Ocean Current… Over-the-Shoulder Slam!!!"
Chang Wei grasped one of the sturdy horns atop Rodan's head—since it was the toughest part of its body, anything else might shatter under such force.
This time, his actions were so grand that they instantly captured the attention of every human observer.
They watched as Chang Wei hurled Rodan straight toward the ocean's surface. The friction from its rapid descent caused its outer shell to start melting from the sheer heat!
And the moment Rodan made contact with the sea—
BOOM! BOOM BOOM BOOM—!!!
The turbulent waves and swirling currents on the ocean's surface were utterly powerless against this monstrous impact.
Millions of tons of seawater erupted skyward, towering higher than the heavens, as if attempting to crash into the very sky itself. A terrifying explosion of sound erupted from the ocean depths, a deafening roar that shattered the clouds and tore apart the heavens!
As far as the eye could see, as far as the ear could hear—the entire ocean trembled violently. Waves surged thousands of meters high, nearly piercing the firmament.
Then, in the next instant, a white line appeared on the horizon, rapidly expanding outward.
The raging tides were split in two, extending endlessly into the distance.
"The ocean… has been parted!!!"
By this point, enough time had passed for humanity to dispatch high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft. However, the footage captured by both the drones and surveillance satellites looked like something straight out of a fantasy epic.
"Moses parting the sea!"
That was the only fitting comparison they could make.
"Impossible! This defies all known laws of physics!"
Even though Rodan was massive and the force Chang Wei exerted was immense, it still shouldn't have been possible to achieve such an overwhelming feat.
The ocean had been split apart for hundreds of kilometers, with a chasm so wide that even the seafloor was exposed.
Rodan now lay battered and broken at the bottom of the sea.
After witnessing this spectacular display, Chang Wei finally felt satisfied. Any more theatrics, and it would start to seem like he was struggling unnecessarily against such a small fry like Rodan.
Going too far would ruin the impact. Fear and awe had a freshness to them—if overused, they would lose their edge. It was best to let things settle, only to reignite the terror when the time was right.
Rodan, barely clinging to life, was on the brink of death. Even though Chang Wei had ensured it wouldn't perish outright, the sheer force of the slam had nearly sent it to the afterlife.
Then, in an act that could only be described as divine, Chang Wei gathered sunlight itself, focusing it into a beam that shone down upon Rodan. Everywhere else dimmed, as if the light itself had been drawn away.
"Is the sunlight… being concentrated?"
"But isn't sunlight just heat and radiation?"
Before their astonished eyes, the near-dead Rodan was revived. This time, however, it had no thoughts of rebellion. It lowered its head and prostrated itself before Chang Wei.
Chang Wei strode onto Rodan's massive skull.
Then, with a single motion, Rodan took flight.
Standing atop the beast's head, Chang Wei looked even more like a "god"—no matter that his form was closer to that of a demon. The very creature beneath his feet served as the perfect divine spectacle.
---
Meanwhile, among the humans—
"Gentlemen, I believe it's time we have a serious discussion about 'God' and the Titans."
Chang Wei had staged his grand display and left, but the human world remained in upheaval.
Debates erupted like wildfire.
One faction firmly believed that Chang Wei was a "god." They scoured every database and archive, desperately searching for any information about him.
For the first time, all of humanity found itself temporarily united in a singular goal: uncovering the identity of their "savior."
Was this a "battle of the gods" among the Titans, or was this "divine intervention to protect humanity"?
As the "God" faction gained traction, an opposing group arose—scientists who believed Chang Wei was not a deity but the first superhuman in history.
With the abundance of sci-fi and superhero media, the concept of an "evolved human with supernatural abilities" seemed more plausible.
They speculated that humanity had finally reached the next stage of evolution. After all, the Titans posed a greater existential threat than nuclear weapons. Perhaps this overwhelming pressure had triggered rapid genetic advancements.
With Earth's human population far surpassing that of early hominids and ancient ancestors, the slow process of evolution could have accelerated exponentially under the immense stress of Titan threats.
Perhaps Chang Wei was only the beginning—perhaps, in time, more superhumans would emerge!
This theory was comforting.
Unfortunately, science quickly dismantled their optimism.
"Superhumans don't exist," experts concluded. "At least, not in the way people hope. There is no genetic basis for such rapid evolution."
Soon after, a chilling discovery was made.
"We've run a global search for any human records that match the individual designated 'God'… but there are no results."
The efficiency of a united world was staggering. For once, there were no hidden agendas or bureaucratic delays—every nation pooled its resources to track down information on Chang Wei.
But no matter where they looked, no country could find any trace of his existence.
"Could he have altered his appearance? Like a shapeshifting witch or something?"
"Stop watching so many sci-fi movies. This isn't a superpower—his abilities are too vast, too varied. Even if genetic mutations could grant extraordinary abilities, it wouldn't explain this level of omnipotence."
"That means… the 'God' hypothesis might actually be correct. The Titans weren't the only ancient beings to awaken—perhaps some long-forgotten deities have returned as well."
"But why did 'God' awaken so late?"
"Maybe He was awake all along… and only now chose to reveal Himself."
"I always thought the Titans were the true gods of this world…"
Dr. Serizawa sat in stunned silence.
The researchers feverishly analyzed the incoming data, their minds racing to unravel the truth.
And then—
"Wait… I've made a discovery!"
