The next day you slowly make your way to school. It's pretty cold outside and you can see the greyness in the clouds. It looks like it's going to snow soon.
I wonder how quiet school is going to be now that no one I'm close to is going to be there...
You walk into the school and head towards your homeroom class. As you walk up the stairs you freeze at a familiar face. Ren stops walking down the stairs when your eyes meet.
"Hey..." Ren slowly says. You relax your eyes and walk past him. He doesn't try to stop you and instead watches you walk away before he continues down the stairs.
You sit at your desk during lunch. You haven't been feeling really hungry, so you didn't bring anything for lunch. You sigh and sit back a bit, trying to think about what Kisaki really wants from you. Not only that but where is Takemichi?
Your eyes widen when you think about Hina. You sit up quickly and pull out your phone. You text Hina, asking if you both can hang out today. You stare at your phone after messaging her, placing your phone back down and closing your eyes. The sound of your phone buzzing causes you to open your eyes and pick up your phone.
She agrees to hang out.
After school you make your way to Hinata's school. When you get there, you slowly make your way to the front of the school. That's when you see Hina walking out. She has a big smile on her face as she approaches you.
"Yuki." She bubbles. You smile back at her.
The two of you sit quietly at a bench. You relax your eyes, a lot of things going through your mind. Hina leans towards you which causes you to look at her. When you do, she smiles at you.
"What's on your mind?" She softly asks.
"Huh?"
"There's got to be something on your mind... you look so distracted."
"Oh... Do I?"
"Mhm..." She hums.
You stare off into the distance and put your hands in your pocket.
"Do you know what happened to Takemichi?" You calmly ask.
Silence causes you to look in Hina's direction. She has a soft look in her eyes.
"No... I don't know what happened to him." She softly answers. "He was there one day but gone the next day... No one knew what happened... not even his friends-"
"So, he just- disappeared?"
"Mhm... I thought maybe he moved... but I didn't hear anything about that..."
"I wonder... what really happened to him." You calmly say. "You never went around asking teachers or anything?"
Hina stares off into the distance before shaking her head. "I thought... maybe he doesn't want to be found-"
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"Maybe he ran away or something."
You look at Hina feeling very confused. You lean back and furrow your eyebrows unable to understand what she was talking about. Run away?
"Why would he run away?" You ask. Hina doesn't really answer which makes you more curious.
"Hey... Yuki-"
"Hm?"
"Do you like that Mikey guy?"
"Huh?" You look at her feeling confused. She slowly looks at you with genuine curiosity in her eyes. You furrow your eyebrows.
"The day you left... on Emma's birthday- it was because of your conversation with Mikey... right?"
You sit silently, not knowing how to answer and not wanting to answer.
"Do you like him?" She asks again. You shrug, unable to answer that question. She slowly nods and looks in front of her. "I don't understand why boys like getting themselves involved in dangerous situations... It's scary... you know-"
"Yeah... I know." You slowly nod.
"Takemichi was like that... but he's not as scary as that Mikey guy." She laughs.
"Takemichi was a delinquent?" You question.
"Mhm... He was always coming to me beat up and everything. He tried to pretend nothing was wrong with him... but obviously something was wrong." She sighs. "I wish he came to me for help before disappearing... Boys are so stupid sometimes."
You relax your eyes. "So, he ran away... because of his problems?" You question.
"Mhm..." She nods.
Just like in the manga...
"But he completely disappeared... even before finishing the school year... He wasn't distancing himself either- so it felt so sudden and strange."
"Has anyone said anything about it?" You questioned.
"Mhm... Teachers had said that he went missing... but the police and teachers believed he had just ran away- that's why I never tried to pry myself into anything just to get information... you know? Maybe- maybe he really just- doesn't want to be found..." She says sadly. "I wish he said something to me instead of leaving me alone... heart broken and confused..."
You stare at her a bit before sighing. "Maybe he had a good reason... Don't think too hard about it though- I'm sure you both will come across each other again." She slowly looks at you and smiles.
You stare off into the distance before taking a deep breath and looking back at her.
"I have another question." You softly say.
"Hm?"
"You had said we used to be friends with Kisaki... what did you mean by that?" You ask. Hina stares at you a bit before smiling.
"Haha- yeah... well- in our cram school, you and Kisaki were both the smartest students. You were always in second place, and he was in first place. You always seemed so eager to beat him, but it never really happened. I wouldn't say we were really friends, but you seemed very interested in how smart Kisaki was, so you always challenged him." She giggles.
"How did I become friends with you?" You calmly ask.
"I thought you were really pretty and interesting... so I befriended you. You were like a pretty rockstar with your personality." She bubbles. You softly smile... but your smile slowly goes away.
"How was Kisaki to me?" You ask. Hina stares at you a bit before she begins to talk.
"Well... I can't really say- he didn't talk much... but he did entertain your challenges." She chuckles. "I thought you both seemed like a cute couple... So, for a long time I had believed he liked you... but then again- I don't know."
"Liked me? I doubt it..." You sigh.
"You're really pretty... and smart- I wouldn't doubt it..." She softly says. "I could see the spark in his eyes every time you challenged him... it was almost like he waited for you each time. After you left the cram school... he became quiet and distant... not long later- he also left."
The thought of Kisaki possibly liking you doesn't sit right with you.
Later that day you slowly make your way to the bakery thinking about what Hina just told you. You slowly turn the corner and stop when you see a familiar motorcycle sitting outside the bakery. You furrow your eyebrows and walk towards the bakery. The door has a sign on it that says closed. You furrow your eyebrows and push the door open to see your grandma and someone sitting down in front of her.
"Grandma?" You say feeling confused. The person slowly turns their head to look at you. You tilt your head a bit feeling confused.
"Hi Yuki." Your grandma says smiling at you. Your eyes doesn't leave from the person in front of you.
"What are you doing here?" You ask looking at Mitsuya.
"Buying sweets... Why? Am I not allowed to?" He laughs looking back at your grandmother. "Mrs. Sato's sweets are so good... I was in a mood for them today... so I came..." He softly says. Your grandmother smiles at him and then at you. You slowly approach the table they are sitting at. "Besides..." He stops and slowly looks at you. "I told Mrs. Sato that I wanted to take you out for a little bit... if that's okay?" He says smiling.
"I think it's fine." You grandma says smiling at you. You stare off into the distance feeling dull. You turn away and walk out the bakery.
"Thank you again Mrs. Sato... I will give the rest of these sweets to my friends- I'm sure they will like them."
"Yes yes... come again soon okay?!" Your grandma says to him. He nods and walks out the store. You stand stiffly outside, looking off into the distance.
"What do you want?" You calmly say, slowly looking in the direction of him. His lilac hair moves as the wind picks up a bit. He slowly looks at you. You stare into his eyes.
"I didn't do anything to you- but now you treat me like I'm your enemy."
"We are enemies." You softly say.
"Really? Even after I let you stay with me...? Even after I fed you and did your laundry?"
"What do you want?" You sigh. He stands still for a bit and sighs. Looking off into the distance.
"Just come on." He says walking towards his motorcycle.
"Mitsuya."
"Let's go..."
You stare at him a bit before sighing and willingly following him.
