Chapter 14 - 10 Years Later (4)

According to the succession laws of the Spirit Hall, the probability of the Holy Son of the Spirit Hall inheriting the Supreme Pontiff Throne was guaranteed and absolute. Thus, the position of the Holy Son of the Spirit Hall was highly coveted by any member of the younger generation in the Spirit Hall.

If Hun Tiandi wasn't around, he wouldn't doubt even for a moment that the position of the Holy Son would go to Qian Renxue due to her overwhelming talent.

The little Qian Rexue, who was happily eating sweets next to him as they were sitting on the bench, had a terrifying talent as someone who was born with the Innate Full Spirit Power and started at the Spirit Rank 20 like him.

Not to mention, she also had the Martial Soul of the Qian Family, the Seraphim, and her affinity for the elements of Light and Holiness, which were really out of the charts even when compared to the previous generation of the Qian Family.

Despite everything that he had achieved in his past life, he wasn't born with some kind of extraordinary talent.

No...

Everything that he obtained was through blood and conquest as he rose to the top of the Hun Clan through the corpses of his enemies and his Clansmen that he killed for the greater power.

He was born with a diluted Bloodline and was considered a great disgrace among the Eight Ancient Clans, especially in the environment of the Hun Clan, but he still achieved greatness.

Hun Tiandi never considered himself a genius or someone talented from birth.

No... because he never was.

Everything he achieved was thanks to the two things that happened to him in his life and his unbreakable willpower, which was constantly driving him forward.

Without the Bloodline Trasferencce on him that was done by the Hun Ying'er on the verge of her death to him, he wouldn't have been able to activate his own Dou Di Bloodline and create a contract with the Nihility Devouring Flame that was hiding somewhere in the Hun Realm during that time, most precisely in the mausoleum of the Hun Clan.

With that being done, he created a special method of refining the Bloodline Essence using the special properties of the Heavenly Flame, more precisely of the Nihility Devouring Flame and left the Hun Clan and traveled through the entire Dou Qi Continent.

He returned to the Hun Clan only many decades later, and that was when he became the peak Dou Saint.

Upon the day of his return...

The blood flew through the Hun Clan as he slaughtered hundreds of people; everyone who was even remotely connected to the rape and death of Hun Ying'er was killed in the most horrendous way possible while their entire beings, including their very own Souls, were reigned by Hun Tiandi to fuel his cultivation even further.

He took control of the entire Hun Clan, killed more than one-third of its members, and ruled the Clan as the Patriarch with iron first.

Together with the Nihility Devouring Flame, as the Heavenly Flame gained sentience and its strength was comparable to the Nine Star Dou Saint, he was able to create a new wave of the Dou Saints of the Hun Clan.

In the end, most of the older ones died under his hand. So there was a very urgent need to cultivate a new generation of the Dou Saints for the Hun Clan, and Hun Tiandi did so, but every single one of them was given a Slave Crest that he personally crafted and engraved on their Souls.

Since he became Patriarch of the Hun Clan, whom he very much hated, he told himself that he would make use of it as much as possible.

He watched the people of the Spirit City as they went around and did their own business; it was rather a tranquil moment of peace and anonymity that he could still relatively enjoy for the time being.

Not to mention, he would soon be departing to the war to lead the troops of the Spirit Hall for conquest and glory. It would be really a new experience because, despite everything, he didn't have much experience leading the troops into the battle, which was rather a common occurrence on the Douluo Continent.

Due to the very strong planar suppression of the Spirit Masters and their rather low destructive prowess, especially in the lower Spirit Realms, large-scale wars have been relatively common across the Douluo Continent since times immemorial.

It would be something of a novel experience for him because it would be the first time since he had led someone to the war. Hun Tiandi knew that this would be the first out of the many that the Spirit Hall would start in their effort to unify the entire Douluo Continent under their banner.

Maybe even the rest of the world if there were other continents aside from the Douluo Continent. The unification of the Douluo Continent was something that was always the goal of the Spirit Hall.

Yet, they never managed to achieve this because it required tremendous power and plotting.

And with the addition of Hun Tiandi's schemes in combination with Bibi Dong's ambition, they were in the process of scheming against the rest of the Continent and solidifying their rule over the Douluo Continent.

"I am finished. Shall we go somewhere else, Elder Brother?"

Qian Renxue finished eating the sweets as she wanted to sightsee through the markets of the Spirit City. Hun Tiandi already had a certain idea of where he wanted to take her, and it was something that she would be excited to see.

"Come, we are going to check on the merchants that are selling Spirit Beasts."

Because the Spirit City was the capital city for the Spirit Masters, there were also a lot of merchants that were selling here the Spirit Beasts. Many of the Spirit Masters, or rather those who had enough money for something like that, would buy the Spirit Beasts as either their pets or companions.

This was the common fashion among the powerful Spirit Masters or the nobility across the nations of the Douluo Continent. If one bought a Spirit Beast with powerful potential, then they would be able to cultivate a Battle Companion that could help them tremendously in the future.

The problematic aspect of this was most obviously the aspect of controlling the Spirit Beasts, which was the most crucial part of the equation. Even though there existed many methods to control the Spirit Beasts, they were rather problematic and not absolute because of the growth of the Spirit Beasts.

Any method the Spirit Masters used to control the Spirit Beasts could be broken under the right circumstances if the Spirit Beasts grew powerful enough. Hun Tiandi knew that the best strategy was to buy a young Spirit Beast and take care of it from a young age.

Creating a good bond with the Spirit Beast by taking care of the creature and thus creating a strong bond with it. Over time, the Spirit Beast would bond with the Spirit Master independently.

Of course, this was highly pricy because the younger the Spirit Beast was, the more expensive it would become. If one added the innate potential of the Spirit Beast, then prices for some young ones could reach truly astronomical numbers.

"We are going to look for the Battle Pets."

Hun Tiandi said as he led Qian Renxue to the part of the market where the Spirit Beasts were being sold. When Qian Renxue heard that they were going to buy some Spirit Beasts, she bounced in her place, eager to get herself a cute and cuddly Spirit Beast.

She wanted something fluffy, cute, and intelligent, like Hao Yue, who was the independent Martial Soul of Hun Tiandi.

"So, what Spirit Beast do you want, Xue'er?"

Hun Tiandi asked as he found the Spirit Beast a rather fitting gift. It was rather similar to the Dou Qi Continent, where some of the powerful cultivators tried to have partnerships with the Magical Beasts based on mutual benefits.

The relationship between the Spirit Masters that kept the Spirit Beasts was rather similar, though there were far fewer Spirit Masters during this as the Spirit Beasts were the source of the Spirit Rings for the Spirit Masters.

Something that Hun Tiandi knew would eventually lead to the extinction of the Spirit Beasts by the tempo at which the Spirit Master population was growing, and he knew that with his addition to the Spirit Energy Cultivation System, increasing the collective strength of the Spirit Masters would make the situation even worse.

He had actually discussed this topic with the Grand Worship, as they would need a solution to the problem. Preferably, they would find an alternative to hunting the Spirit Beasts or perhaps create Artificial Spirit Souls that would imitate the real Spirit Beasts and give the same result as killing the real ones.

Through that, they would also be able to make some sort of peace with the Spirit Beasts, especially the most powerful ones that could practically push humanity to the brink of extinction, according to what he heard from the Grand Worship Qian Daoliu.

As they were going to the part of the city where the Spirit Beasts were being sold, Hun Tiandi really hoped that she wouldn't choose anything that was useless, like some Spirit Beast whose only strong side was that it was cute and fluffy.

This was rather a common trend among the young noblewomen in the two great Empires and some more powerful and richer kingdoms. They were buying cute and basically useless Spirit Beasts that didn't have any potential to become strong and useful to them in the future, and even spending outrageous amounts of money.

Looking for a suitable Spirit Beast to be a Battle Companion for the Qian Renxue was a hassle, because when they arrived at the part of the market dealing with his kind of merchandise, she stated clearly that she wanted something cute.

But no matter how she vailed and practiced crocodile tears, Hun Tiandi refused to budge from the stance that if she were to get a Spirit Beast, then it should be one with good potential to cultivate into the Battle Pet Companion.

Fortunately, with him as the correction force in this, they were going to search for something that had the actual potential to be powerful in combat. He saw no reason to waste money on just some random pet; this wasn't going to be a good investment, and even though her grandfather wouldn't say anything, Hun Tiandi knew that he would be rather displeased with him.

The old man was a cunning, sly fox.

He couldn't really say no to his beloved grandfather and couldn't be really strict with her; that role typically fell to other people. So, in this scenario, Qian Daoliu depended on Hun Tiannot to go with all of her whims, as it was for her own good.

Due to his experiences, he had a rather good understanding of the potential of the Spirit Beasts because they were very similar to those of the Magical Beasts in the Dou Qi Continent of his past life.

"What do you say about this wolf? Silvermoon Wolf, young cub, and they have strong, strong potential and often reach 100,000 Years Old without many complications."

Soon enough, after looking through the Spirit Beasts that the merchants were putting on the sale, he found something that actually had a very good potential to be cultivated. During the time that he spent in the extensive libraries of the Spirit Hall, he also went through a lot of compendia on the Spirit Beasts and various Bestiaries.

Silvermoon Wolves were one of the rarer breeds of the Spirit Beasts, and many of them reached the threshold of 100,000 Years Old, and they were considerably powerful Spirit Beasts.

Their innate abilities were considered in the upper echelons of the Spirit Beasts, and they also had an innate connection to the Moon.

During the time when the Moon was up at night, they were able to absorb the Moon's light to increase their cultivation several times faster, while at the same time, they were stronger during the night due to the effect of the Moon's light.

And on top of everything, it was fulfilling Qian Renxue's desire to have something cute and fluffy as her pet. Not to mention, this Silvermoon Wolf was just a young cub, that was barely a few weeks old, most probably it was either kidnapped or it's parents were killed by the Spirit Masters or other Spirit Beasts.

"It's cute."

Seeing that Qian Renxue was happy with his choice, he looked at the merchant, who was the owner of the establishment where they were right now, and called the plump middle-aged man to him.

"How much for the cub of the Silvermoon Wolf?"

Hun Tiandi asked because he was set on buying the cub.

He did not have a real need for the Battle Pet Companion as he already had the Hao Yue, the Austin Griffin Independent Martial Soul.

"350,000 Gold Coins, young sir."

The price was rather steep, but Hun Tiandi knew that it was a relatively good deal for the cub of such a Spirit Beast like the Silvermoon Wolf.

"Include a few pacts of the premium-grade food for it, and we have a deal."

In the end, the merchant agreed to the proposal because the few packs of good high-quality food for the Silvermoon Wolf cub were nothing substantial in the great scheme of things while at the same time, seeing that the young man in front of him causally paid 350,000 Gold Coins for the cub, it meant that he came from powerful backround.

For the man, it was critical to have a good relationship with the powerful figures; fostering such a relationship could lead to a wider clientele but also to some sort of protection in the future.

Meanwhile, Hun Tiandi, who looked at the Silvermoon Wolf cub, picked the Spirit Beast gently from the place where it was sleeping among the blankets as he passed the tiny creature of Qian Renxue, who immediately started cooing over the little wolf.

Soon enough, a few servants brought several bags of processed food in some fashion that was specifically used to feed the carnivore Spirit Beasts in the early stage of their development.

Despite the fact that he had more money than enough, he wasn't a fan of wasting it without a reason, and if there was the possibility to save something through a good bargain, then so be it.

When they fulfilled their shopping trip, he returned together with Qian Renxue to the Supreme Pontiff Palace as the little girl was hugging closely the cub of the Silvermoon Wolf and cooing it like a little baby.

"We are going to show this to the grandpa."

Qian Renxue happily danced around as she was happy to have a pet in the form of the Silvermoon Wolf, while Hun Tiandi was just happy that she got something useful, and even from that, she was happy.

While he wouldn't really say it out of loud, he felt a lot of familial affection for the Qian Renxue as they basically grew up with each other.

"Have you decided on the name for the cub already?"

Hun Tiandi asked as he ruffed her hair affectionately she put on a cute, thoughtful expression while she was seriously pondering over the name of the small cub that was sleeping in her arms.

"Can't you name it, elder brother?"

In the end, Qian Renxue couldn't though of a suitable name for around ten minutes as they arrived at the Douluo Consecration Hall as she delegated the task to Hun Tiandi. The future Holy Son of the Spirit Hall looked at the Silvermoon Wolf cub for a short time as he had decided on the name.

"Fenrir. The World Devouring Wolf."

As if by fate, the little Silvermoon Wolf cub woke up and looked at Hun Tiandi with a delighted look, as if satisfied with the name that he had chosen for it. He knew that the wolf needed a powerful name, and the name Fenrir was really powerful.

"That's so cool..."

He could almost see the stars in her eyes when she thought over the name of the little wolf cub. She was very satisfied with the name that he had chosen for the wolf because it sounded like a really powerful name.

"Yeah, yeah... You need to take care of it properly so the little cub can grow into a powerful Spirit Beast."

Qian Renxue nodded her head happily as she knew that this little cub was her own responsibility right now. Hun Tiandi knew that she would be responsible for taking care of the little wolf cub as they arrived at the Douluo Consecration Hall.

Within the hall, the Grand Worship Elder was already waiting for them, because he knew that Hun Tiandi had taken Renxue to the city and to shop. Looking at the cub of the Spirit Beast, he knew that she had successfully convinced him to buy her a Battle Pet Companion.

"Who is your new little friend Xue'er?"

Qian Daoliu looked carefully at the little wolf cub because, and he recognized it as the wolf cub of the Silvermoon Wolf. He was even rather surprised by this development because it was a very rare type of Spirit Beast.

Silvermoon Wolves had their particular ability to absorb the Moonlight to increase their Age, while at the same time, when the Silvermoon Wolves achieved a certain age and power, they were able to "Swallow" different Spirit Beasts to assimilate their Spirit Energy and increase their cultivation even further.

However, they were able to use this ability only on the Spirit Beasts that were of a similar or the same attribute as the Silvermoon Wolves themselves.
