Before Rowan could react further, the door of Sera's quarters burst open. Duke Lysander hurriedly stepped in, still in his night clothes, with his father and Alec following after him.
"Rowan? What are you doing here? What happened?" The Duke asked, but the moment his eyes caught his injured daughter on the bed, he knew something bad had happened.
"Sera!" He exclaimed, taking long strides, rushing to her side to check the severity of her injuries. His eyes landed on the black and crimson veins that spread out in Sera's entire body. He couldn't understand what could have gone wrong with his daughter.
"What is the meaning of this?" He asked Rowan, who was now kneeling on the bed, his both hands hovering on top of Sera's head, casting a defense spell.
"She said Heartbane. What is it, Your Grace?" Rowan questioned in return.
Duke Lysander and his father's face turned pale. They both had a horrified expression on their faces as they looked at the unconscious Sera.
