The sun was about to set when the carriage Sera, Lyria, and Alec were in arrived at the entrance of the de Lys estate in the capital. However, none of them expected that a commotion was waiting upon their return. Some of the de Lys guards were stopping a man from entering the premises, insisting that he needed a word with Sera.
The man was none other than Lawrence. Sera had been expecting his arrival, knowing that the news of her departure from the capital had already been scheduled. He must have been desperate enough that he needed to see her in a hurry.
As soon as he saw Sera alight from a plain-looking carriage, Lawrence pulled himself away from the guards and rushed towards him. Alec stopped him by placing his sword between Lawrence and Sera, while Lyria cast a protective barrier around Sera.
"What's the meaning of this, Sir Lawrence?" Alec glared at the other man sternly. He hadn't forgotten that Lawrence was Sera's friend and betrayed her.
