The following morning, the sky was clear.
It was the first thing Seraphine noticed when she opened the curtains in her room.
The second was the mountains.
Without the clouds and heavy snowfall of the previous days, the peaks surrounding the town were much more clearly visible. Some slopes were completely white, while others still showed dark patches of rock and pine trees.
She spent some time looking before stepping into the corridor.
She found the nameless man already there.
He held his notebook in one hand.
"Did you see it too?"
"Yes."
"We can go higher today."
Seraphine smiled.
"Good morning to you too."
He seemed to realize something.
"Good morning."
Kael emerged from his room shortly afterward, already dressed.
"You're planning something."
"Maybe," Seraphine replied.
"That word keeps coming up too often."
The man opened his notebook.
"The road to the highest village is open."
Kael looked at him.
"How do you know?"
"I asked."
"When?"
"Before breakfast."
