Chapter 71 - Pt. 9: 70: The Backfire

As Vincencio mentioned before, he had been watched by his wife, Skylar. She had been carefully sending men to watch his moves due to one message, involving her husband.

Text Message:

Omega J: Alpha, there are a couple of new faces in the city. Be the judge since it's hard to tell when it involves your man. Kindly check Beta's email.

Omega J: PS. Be calm as much as you can. Best of luck, boss.

"A new face involved with Vince? That's interesting." Skylar mumbled as she read Joey's direct message after washing the dishes.

"Wifey, I gotta go." Vincenico softly said as he wrapped his arms around Skylar's waist from behind.

"It's too early," Skylar said, pulling away and noticing it was just almost eight when he always left around nine. "This is getting odd to my liking."

"If I want to go home before midnight, then I have to." He sweetly excused that, which was enough for Skylar to allow.

"Fine. Be careful." She sighed and wished him safe.

"You too. Lock the door as soon as I leave." He pecked her lips before he put on his shoes.

"I will. Love you." She said sweetly, making Vincencio capture her lips, kissing them dearly.

"Love you too," he softly said as they pulled away and left the house.

"Now let's check who this person was, who was suddenly preoccupying my hubby's night." Skylar slyly smirked and checked the email. However, her smile went thin, and something bad clicked in her. Rose Slayer awakens immediately. "I don't like to feel this again."

Rose Slayer didn't waste any time and went into her full gear. Instead of her usual lace mask covering her lips, she wore her pure dark metal mask, which looked like a Japanese Oni mask because of the crooked razor teeth. With guns and blades tucked away, she drove to her true lair, the cabin where she and her team met for a serious discussion.

Arriving at the cabin, her team was there except the Presley Siblings. They have some jobs around Midnight Guardian's port, and Rose Slayer was fine with it.

"That's new. You're here." Omega J, Joey teasingly greeted, making the rest chuckle.

"I had to." Rose Slayer coldly replied and stepped on the porch.

"Hubby alert." He teased more, making her stop getting inside the cabin.

"Shut up, J, unless you want to face my fist." She said in her low, cold voice, making them jolt.

"Nope, I'd better check the perimeter. Bye." He quickly said, dodging bullets and escaping.

"Chicken." Delta Fog, Josh chuckled while shaking his head before following their boss inside the cabin.

"Alpha, Ruby sent those photos when she was on her night shift at the café. Also, she gave me an update regarding Monica's movements." Beta Din, Medina began reporting as soon as they sat in the living space, having tea and coffee.

"Hm, I would like to hear that part." She coldly said before sipping her usual black coffee.

"Monica is gathering information and connections under the radar of SRF, but I think they know about it." Beta Din briefly added, making Rose Slayer smirk.

"Well, I got that hunch too. SRF is one of the notorious mafia in the city, and it isn't easy to play against them." She said, and they agreed since they once fought with them, and nobody wins.

"Actually, I also tracked Monica's meetings, and from the likes of it, she's very close to stepping into something she shouldn't get entangled with." Delta Fog added as he handed a new report regarding the same issue at hand.

"That's interesting, Delta. Elaborate, please." She said, reading the report he made.

"Monica is tracking down the sole core of the SRF, the founder of the gang, and perhaps the reason why she can't get away from them. I think she's close on finding it because SRF shadows began eyeing her tracks."

"Hm, later they will pretend to be a client or a new connection once Monica touches the answers." She concluded, and they agreed before she quickly added her terms. "If that was the case, use Monica's gathered information, and if SRF stepped in, we have to capture her before they do."

"Capture? Literally capturing her?" Delta Fog asked carefully, making Rose Slayer nod before reacting relieved, "Finally, we're ending her."

"Alpha, I'm not sure if you're going to like this one." Beta Din suddenly caught their boss's attention while her eyes were still glued to her work tablet.

"Shoot me." She said before drinking her coffee.

"Hubby is meeting the same woman again. But something is different…they were at the port…" She quickly informed her.

"Port?" She curiously wondered.

"Midnight Guardians." She answered, making Skylar nod.

"Hm, maybe they're doing a transaction with the group." She guessed, but to her beta, it seemed different.

"Possible, but take a look." She said, giving the work tablet to her boss.

Rose Slayer was just about to take a peek, but instead, her thin smile turned to a frown. The air around her went below zero, making her beta and delta shiver. After a few moments of watching, she surprisingly went calm, and it was very frightening to her team's liking.

"Alpha Lar…" Delta Fog worriedly called.

"I'm leaving." Rose Slayer said, standing up without finishing her coffee.

"Where to?" Beta Din asked even though she already knew the answer.

"To the port. I want to give Night Hound a surprise visit." She replied darkly and left without looking back at them.

"She's in a foul mood."

"No, it's more of a worried mood."

***

Rose Slayer waltzed at the Midnight Guardians port without being noticed, like usual. She easily climbed, and through the window, she entered Night Hound's office. She quickly made herself comfortable sitting in his chair when the woman she had been disliking came inside.

"And who might you be?" Shana asked curiously since she thought the room was empty. Rose Slayer has no presence unless she wants to be seen.

"Nightmare," Rose Slayer coldly answered, shrugging her shoulders.

"Oh please…" She was about to say something sarcastic when Rose Slayer appeared in front of her and flipped her without blinking. "The fuck."

"Don't try me, girl." She spat with venom, making Shana shiver since Rose Slayer was sending threatening malice aimed at her. "You won't like it when I'm mad."

Shana quickly got up and carefully studied Rose Slayer when it clicked.

"Don't tell me you're his wife that he's been protective of?" Without ill intention, Shana guessed as she ignored the threatening vibe from Rose Slayer. She thought she was just a human with skills.

"Are you talking about the same man you're being close with?" Rose Slayer curiously asked, watching as the woman dusted her clothes like nothing had happened.

"Perhaps, and he's really good to me, even the label says 'ex'." She grinned, challenging her. However, Rose Slayer chuckled darkly.

"Oh, so you're the one I want to break." She sinisterly smirked and began stepping closer. Shana suddenly flinched because Rose Slayer was not playing around.

"W-what are you going to do?" Shana stuttered as she felt threatened.

"Like I said, I'm a nightmare." Rose Slayer grimly said and kept walking closer to her. But with each step she creates, the woman steps backwards, away from her.

"I think I understand why Vincencio is afraid of telling his truth," Shana whispered, but with sensitive hearing, Rose Slayer heard them.

"WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT HIS TRUTH?" She snapped, and again, she appeared in front of her, choking her.

Shana tried to stay composed and laughed it off like a teasing person, but Rose Slayer was going for the kill. She used her werewolf strength and broke free from her lethal grasp.

"He's something you may not understand if you're a human." With a slight taunt, Shana responded, changing her aura into something inhumane, making Rose Slayer's guard double up.

"She's a night creature." Rose Slayer thought, but her excitement was winning inside.

She wasn't sure about the strange excitement spreading through her body, but somehow, she loved it. The heat and adrenaline have been fueled up, and she began cracking her fingertips.

"The way you speak about being inhumane tells me that you're one of them and perhaps, like Night Hound." With a taunting voice, Rose Slayer darkly said, making Shana gulp but remain composed.

"I am so does Vincencio." Shana replied, mentioning the name that angered the killer.

"If that's true, I need to hear it from him." She annoyingly thought before warning her with venom. "You have no right to speak his name."

"I do. In fact, we're working together on an issue. That's why I'm here." She honestly reasoned

"If she's working with Vince, then why here at the MG?" Rose Slayer carefully thought before asking, "What are you talking about?"

"He's said you're clever, so answer it for yourself." With sarcasm, Shana answered smugly, which pressed the wrong button in Rose Slayer.

Without hesitation, Rose Slayer's fist and kick combos began raining on Shana. At first, it was nothing to Shana as she was a well-trained werewolf, but Rose Slayer was a sinister killer. She could put any type of prey in her playpen without being noticed, and Shana was falling on it fast.

"Dammit. Stop. I'm just kidding." Shana groaned as she kept dodging and blocking Rose Slayer's attacks, which were getting heavier at each contact on her body. "Dammit, Skylar. STOP!"

"How did you - never mind. You're a werewolf, and it made sense how you know it's me." Rose Slayer said coldly, and with fuming rage, she spat. "But it doesn't spare you from my rage. Vincencio is mine, and you hurt him a lot."

Rose Slayer managed to grab her collar and slammed Shana on the wall, leaving a crack. She was changing, reawakening, and Shana was witnessing it.

"You're changing..." Shana mumbled, horrified. She knew changing persons or any creatures was too dangerous for inborns like her who hadn't been in the process of ascending.

"I know, and you'll be the first one to taste it." With a grimace, Rose Slayer sinisterly whispered into her ears.

"STOP! HE'S YOURS! I'M COMPLETELY OVER HIM AND ALREADY MATED WITH HIS BROTHER!" Shana shouted, trying to save herself from the danger she stepped into.

However, it was too late. Shana was thrown out of the office window, forcing the woman to shift into her dark brown wolf. As for Rose Slayer, her eyes burn with menacing, bloody eyes.

"Let's test what I've learn with Ayed." She whispered, and with her devilish grin, she followed the wolf down and charged without hesitation.

Although Shana was in her wolf form, she was overpowered by the ruthless side of Rose Slayer. She fought for her life. However, Rose Slayer was getting too close to reawakening. Something has been crawling under her skin, ripping her from inside and out, making everything on rush when she heard it. Faint but a clear thought.

'You're a vampire...'

"I know, and you're waking it up badly." Without remorse, Rose Slayer replied to Shana's voice as she maneuvered her body, dodging the wolf's claws before grabbing its neck and pinning it down with such force. "Don't be surprised, I've been trained in fighting a worse enemy."

They fought as life was in the line. However, Rose Slayer was not even tired compared to the pant of the wolf, shifting back into human form. Shana was covered with healing bruises and bleeding scratches, which amused Rose Slayer. She was about to attack again when Night Hound appeared.

"Don't stop me." She said coldly and cracked her fingertips again, while walking toward Shana.

"I'm not. I'm here to watch." Night Hound replied, shrugging his shoulders, making Shana look horrified.

"You've been watching." She said, grinning.

"Listening to, and I like how possessive you were." He added with a fascination tone before teasingly adding, "Can have you too?"
