"What the-how?!" I questioned. This is just bizarre even for me. Kakashi Hatake, son of the late white fang, the infamous Kakashi of the Sharingan is now a member of the akatsuki? It just doesn't make any sense.
Did he betrayed konoha? Did he turned into a traitor like Itachi too? Ha! That would have been hilarious.
"Kakashi...how in the hell did you became a member of the akatsuki?"
"Hmmm. Now that would be telling isn't it? Don't worry, I'm as loyal as they come. No hard feelings right?"
"Tsk. Fine, keep your secrets. So what's our mission?"
"Good then. There are sightings of large number of chakra beasts a couple of miles away from here. Our mission is simple. Extermination. We leave nothing of these things alive and immediately come back here as soon as possible."
"Chakra beasts?"
"Ah, she forgot to tell you? The creatures with those unnatural sharingan. We call those things as chakra beasts. So, is the mission clear to you?"
"Hnn. Now when are we leaving?"
"Right now."
With an eye smile, he quickly dashed away among the trees.
"Tsk. Show off." And with that, I followed right after him. Our cloaks fluttering beneath the heavy rain.
It didn't take long for us to reach our destination. Contrary to the mission parameter, there are more chakra beasts than expected. So much so that we are looking at an ant nest at these point...however...
I lick my lips at the scattered bunch from above the tree.
"Hey, eye-patch."
He turn towards me with an indifferent look.
"Don't interfere. They're mine."
He was silent for a second before pulling out a book and started reading it. The hell?
"Fine by me. Just call me if you need anything."
Whatever. And with that thought, I jumped high onwards the pile of soon to be my victims. I prepared my scythe in hand, ready to deliver judgement towards these heathens.
For Lord Jashin.
"Ahahaha! Prepare to die!"
My shout quickly alerted them. I landed in the middle and soon the carnage has begun.
General Point of View
While Hidan is busy killing all the chakra beasts, Kakashi is currently observing his partner from afar. A certain sound suddenly erupted at his right ear. He put his hand at the device near his ear and waited.
"So how is he?" A familiar female voice called.
"Currently at the process of extermination. So far, it seems he can handle this on his own. Told me to not interfere by the way...hmm? Whoa that is nasty."
"Continue."
"Right, sorry. He can still go. From what I gather so far, his capabilities as a S-rank missing nin are still there. Might not even need my help at this point."
"That maybe so but continue to monitor him. I need to make sure that he is still worthy of being in the akatsuki. It's been years since he fought after all."
"Roger that." The call ended soon right after.
"Yo, got anything left in here? This guys are boring as hell."
At hearing Hidan's voice, Kakashi turn his head at Hidan's work. What he saw is a large pile of chakra beasts. All of them are mutilated beyond recognition.
"Damn. You work fast. Good job."
"Tch. Shut up. So are there any more left?"
"Hmm. That's all for today. Let's go back now. Maybe we can get more missions right after this one."
"Whatever. Hopefully, the next one would pose more of a challenge than this one."
Both of them went back right after that. The pair walked in silence until they finally reached the Hidden Rain Village. Once they're inside, they spotted Konan in a middle of a paperwork. She took note of their arrival and demanded a report. Kakashi briefly told her what was left unsaid while Hidan also said his piece.
"So, is there another one? The last mission barely gave me any sweat." Hidan said.
"You're quite enthusiastic considering you just came back from a mission. Kakashi?"
"I also think so, Lady Kage. I believe we can still do one mission before we call it a day."
"...alright. Let's see what we got here..."
Konan looked towards all the mission files until she found something that seems satisfactory to her.
"Ah. Here it is. The southern borders of the village is in tight need of security since there have been numerous bandit attacks in the last few days."
"That seems to be too easy, Konan-sama."
"That appears to be so but these are no ordinary bandits."
"Oh? Who might they be?" Kakashi questioned.
"I'm glad you asked. Various intel gatherers had all reported a strange metal headband they wore. However, the signs are not from any shinobi villages. All metal headbands all had a distinctive claw marks as a symbol."
"Ah...the bijuu faction, huh?" Kakashi stated.
"Correct. Your mission is to guard the southern boarders for a month until they fully finished their fortress. Both of you also need to bring at least two of their members alive. This is an S-rank mission since more often than not, a bijuu sometimes accompany for their heist so expect a heavy battle. Failure is not an option."
"We understand. Hidan, let's go."
"Finally, a worthy sacrifice. They better not dissapoint."
"Whatever you say, buddy."
"I am not your buddy, cyclops!"
And with that, they're gone leaving Konan behind. Konan looked at the pile of paperwork at her desk before leaving out a sigh.
"To think that these stupid workload would dissapear if the world is beyond messed up. Damn it, stupid paperwork."
While Konan went back to her work, Hidan and Kakashi are now traveling towards the southern boarders in great speed.
"So, how did you end up being one of us?" Hidan started with a smirk.
"Didn't you just told me a few hours ago that it's okay to keep my secrets? Going back on your words now?" Kakashi replied.
"Eh, I didn't promise anything anyway plus it would take awhile before we get there, don't we?"
"Hmmm... You're right but why would I tell you anyway?"
"Does it really matter? Wait, don't tell me it's one of those traumatic, sad stories again. Man, that would have sucked."
"Well, ain't it a bad luck for you though since it is both traumatic and sad? Guess you aren't hearing anything from me."
"What? Oh come on! I was just kidding."
"Too bad, so sad. And for the record, we're already here."
"Wait what?" Just as Hidan realized, they are now standing at the entrance of the Southern boarders of the Hidden Rain Village and the place is currently being attacked by a couple of bandits.
Kakashi walked beside him, his one sharingan eye now in full display.
"Come on now, buddy. We don't got all day." Kakashi says before taking off and started killing some bandits.
"Damn it."
