Kai's POV
The palace emerged like a mirage…it almost didn't look real.
It was like those castles you see in children's channels that look formidable but probably too good to be real.
Except instead of pink and yellow and a thousand splash of colors, this one stood like a Gothic monstrosity. The biggest mansion I have ever seen.
A banner fluttered above the gates: WELCOME HOME BRONC (AND UNINVITED GUEST?)
I guess that would be me - the uninvited guest.
Zee raced inside, screaming.
"SHE'S HERE! AND SHE'S SCARIER THAN COLE!"
If only he knew just how scared I am…the smiles and the jokes were just bravado masks. How long could I keep that in place?
Jack's hand on mine, jolted me out of my head. "Last chance to run." He told me.
I turned and looked at him, and just like magic, those loud voices in my head started to quiet down.
