Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: Fading Lightning

As Kairi and Maria stood over Nicole's body, rain started pouring down from the sky. Maria opened her hand to feel the rain hit her prosthetic arm, then lightning started pouring down. As lightning continued to strike, Kairi walked in front of Maria and said, "Lightning always strikes twice, but this is unusual." A spark of green lightning came crashing down, directly hitting Kairi. As she screamed from the sudden shock of lightning. Maria smiled as she saw a figure walking towards her. A massive grin went across her face while saying, "I heard that lightning nowadays in the human realm is jaded green." Multiple lightning bolts appeared around Maria. She used her chaos to destroy all of the bolts, but as she destroyed the last one, the figure appeared in front of Maria, and as the smoke cleared, the figure was in full view. The figure was Jade; she wasted no time and started repeatedly kicking Maria in the chest and head. As Maria was being pushed back, electricity started to build up with every movement. Jade spin-kicked Maria, sending her flying into a ruined building. Jade used her built-up electricity and used a spell called "Discharge", massive waves of electricity covering the area. Maria stood up from the destroyed building and said, "How interesting. I have never seen a human this strong before. I am going to enjoy killing you." Maria dashed towards Jade, imbuing her hands in chaos. She destroyed Jade's spell, then grabbed her arms and started imbuing Jade's body with chaos. As Jade let out countless screams, the chaos started burning her flesh. Sparks started coming off Jade's body before a massive lightning bolt came crashing down onto them, forcing Maria to lose her grip on Jade. Breathing heavily, Jade noticed her magical circuits fading rapidly. Maria laughed and said, "I was wrong; you're still a human. You're nothing but weak." Maria drew her greatsword before she dashed towards Jade. As the circuits started to fade, Jade realised she only had enough time for one spell. A massive amount of green lighting started coming out of her body before the lighting turned blue and turned into a lightning spear. While Maria got closer, Jade used the Grand spell "Spear of Rijan". A massive lightning spear came crashing towards Maria as the spear clashed with Maria's greatsword, and a massive cloud of dust covered the area. Jade's magical circuits completely faded as she looked up and saw Maria standing in front of her as Maria grabbed Jade's head and smashed it into the ground, making Jade bleed from the head. Kairi walked to Maria and said, "Is it over?" Maria nodded before saying, "I am tired of waiting. If the dragon won't come to us, we will draw it out by force." She looked back at Kairi with a psychotic smile. Humanity Guardian was on the brink of death.
