Chapter 10 - Memory of Beginnings

Kriel staggered, pain exploding in his head. He clutched it like a lifeline, memories rushing back like a wild river, chaotic and overwhelming. "What the hell?" he gasped, feeling an ancient weight press down on him, dark veins pulsing threateningly beneath his skin. He sensed he was on the edge. "Fifty percent … bloody hell!" Heart pounding, he braced himself as memories flooded in.

Images flashed before his eyes, darkness swallowing him whole until a bright light cut through. Kriel saw Halos, the God of Light and Power, creating worlds that sparkled with life. Then just like that, he vanished. "You left us hanging, didn't you?" he muttered bitterly, recalling the whispers about the Eternals and the chaos they left behind.

As the memories settled, clarity rushed in. He understood the split that had happened: The Order clinging to control while Chaos fought for freedom. The siblings at the center of it all, Valieth and Aetheraea, had once stood united, but their clash over ideas had torn them apart. "What the hell is this?!" Kriel shouted, his voice echoing in the void as he realized he was tangled in their mess.

He witnessed reality beginning to crack, fraying at the edges. The air buzzed with tension; Kriel could almost feel the magical energies spiraling out of control. "We need to contain the power!" Aetheraea implored, her voice fierce, a beacon in the chaos.

"Contain it? You mean chain it!" Valieth retorted, shadows swirling around him. "Magic is supposed to be free always!" Their voices clashed like thunder, shaking the very foundations of existence. Kriel shuddered, sensing the ripples of their conflict echoing through time.

His vision flickered, memories overlapping chaotically. A colossal battle unfolded in his mind like an explosion. Then everything shifted again, leading up to the creation of the System, binding power to flesh like chains. But even as the System rose, the Void Harbingers thrived in chaos, embracing the corruption and rebelling against the enforced rules. They had become the void.

Fire ignited within him. He wasn't just another pawn; he was a player in a universal game, centuries in the making. The thrill of chaos sparked inside him, adrenaline flooding his veins. Just when he started to plan his next move, a patrol of System enforcers slipped from the shadows, marked and menacing.

"You're scum, Kriel! A devil!" one yelled, his voice thick with hatred. "This ends now. We're taking you down like the dog you are!"

Kriel smirked. "You really think you can stop me?" he challenged, feeling the void power swell within him. "I'm just getting started at tearing your world apart!"

Without a second thought, he lunged at the nearest enforcer, darkness spiraling around him like a hurricane. The impact echoed through him as the man thudded to the ground. Kriel spun, dodging a flurry of attacks as the others charged; he was a blur of speed and dark energy, taking them out before they could react.

The fight escalated, blades clashing as Kriel reveled in the chaotic dance. Blood spattered the ground, making it feel alive, and shouts of fear filled the air, blending with the scent of ozone. "Who the hell are you?!" one enforcer gasped as Kriel dodged another strike, laughter echoing off the ruins.

"Never was human, you idiot," Kriel growled, his eyes flaring like embers. "I'm the future. You lot are just remnants of a dying System. Take a fucking hike."

With each enforcer he took down, Kriel felt his void energy intensifying, unlocking new depths of strength and fury. "I'm gonna enjoy this," he muttered, flinging one foe over his shoulder, hearing the satisfying crunch as he hit the ground.

Finally, after the last patrolman crumpled, Kriel stood panting, savoring the power surging through him. "Okay, I'm starting to get this. Time to destroy this pathetic System," he breathed. Suddenly, the ground rumbled ominously. Dark clouds raced across the sky, signaling another battle was looming.

"Well, shit," Kriel said, a wicked grin spreading across his face as he surveyed the remnants of the fight. "The void isn't just raw power. It's freedom. And I'm gonna show everyone what that really means."

He steadied himself, anticipation crackling in the air, eyes narrowed with determination. "I'm the storm," he announced, his voice resounding in the fading light. "And I won't be silenced."

Just then, a figure emerged from the shadows a hunter with a smug glint in his eye, unmarked and confident. "You're quite the legend, Kriel. Void Walker, huh? You slipped past the Captain just like you slipped past me," he said, a cocky smirk dripping from his lips.

"What the hell do you want?" Kriel snapped, irritation bubbling up. "I don't have time for your games."

"My name's Zero," the hunter bragged, arrogance oozing from his words. "Bow to me, or I'll ensure your death is slow and painful. Killing you? That'll score me some fame. 'Zero the Monarch's Apprentice' has a nice ring to it, don't you think?"

Kriel burst out laughing, incredulous. "You think legends are supposed to be bowed to? Not happening!"

"Legends are meant to be broken," Zero replied, unnervingly calm.

Kriel's smile widened as void energy swirled around him like smoke. "Then come and try to break me."

Zero charged at him like a lightning bolt, but Kriel was ready. The air buzzed with the clash of their powers, strikes ringing out as they danced a deadly waltz. Only one would walk away alive.

Before Zero could react again, Kriel summoned his Void Wings. With a swift motion, he severed Zero's head from his body. The world fell silent as the hunter's last whisper faded, "Lord Ze…nit…h."

Kriel looked down at the lifeless body, smirking. "Zenith, huh? Guess I'll be bringing you your student's head, you bastard."
