Chapter 7 - Chapter seven

I looked at my parents as I heard them say that. "Uh...what do you want to know about?" I asked nervously. "We didn't really talk about anything...he told me where he is from actually." I stated. I didn't want to bring up the whole customer thing to my dad because I thought it was going to strike a nerve with him.

"Oh yeah! His parents also told us why too!" My mom said while she sat down in the chair. "Yeah! his dad got a promotion in the city, his mom wanted to move back to her childhood town when she found out about it. His grandma on his mom's side of the family lives here too." I said, nodding my head before saying everything.

"Yeah! That's they were talking about with us when you both were on the porch!" My dad said, cleaning up the kitchen.

"Yeah, he told me that they are from Maine. His dad's side of the family is still in Maine. He told me that they are going to go back and visit them though." I spoke more to my parents as they nodded their heads.

"Did he tell you about his first day at the restaurant?" My dad asked. I nodded my head after he asked me that question.

"Yeah, he did. He told me all about it, dad." I said before looking up at him. "People are so stupid..." I muttered the last part under my breath, so he didn't hear it. I glanced at my parents as they didn't pay attention. "I am going back up to my room now. I have to do some more homework and everything." I said before waving to my parents.

"Alright honey. Make sure you actually get some sleep." My mom said to me before I went up to my room. I closed the door and looked at my huge mess that Ava made. I sighed heavily before I muttered, "Oh Ava...what am I going to do when I see you in school on Monday...this is a disaster..." I started to clean my room up. Putting clothes back on hangers, taking the dirty clothes and putting them in the basket that they belong in, remade my bed, just everything basically.

After a bit, I sighed heavily as I plopped on my bed. I stared at the ceiling before I sat up and grabbed my laptop. I decided to watch something for the night. I lied to them about homework. I didn't have any homework to do. I wanted to slip away before my dad asked me what Xavier said to me about his first day or his first couple of days working there.

I put a movie on before I got a text message on my phone. I looked at it. It was Xavier. How did he get my number? Did Ava secretly give it to him? I don't know. I opened the message before reading it.

"Hey! It's Xavier. Ava gave me your number in class yesterday. But I had a great time tonight. My parents won't shut up about the whole dinner and stuff. They love your dad's food. My mom said next time they come over to your place, she is brining dessert."

I chuckled reading his message. I hummed softly before I messaged him back.

"Hey! Kinda figured Ava would do that but, my parents also wouldn't shut up about it too after y'all left. I had to lie and say I had homework to do...it's a Saturday, I ain't doing homework on a Saturday. I also had a fun time talking with you on the porch too. Y'all are welcome back here anytime." I sent the message to him. I rocked a bit; that's my thing I do when I get too nervous. Why am I getting nervous? I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm talking to a guy, on my phone, that is really cute and cool.

I saw my phone go off again. I opened my phone and read the message.

"I agree with you. I don't do homework on Saturdays. I also had to lie to my parents about going to my room. I said I had to go and answer my friend from Maine. They literally wouldn't shut up about tonight."

I heard my parents talking from downstairs. They also were talking about tonight. I sighed heavily before I pressed the facetime button. Within a minute he answered. We both smiled.

"I see you are in your comfy pjs." He commented. I looked down at my outfit before I laughed a bit from embarrassment.

"Yeah, I am. I know they look childish, but they are super comfy." I said before I pretended to pose.

I heard him laughing on the other end. I couldn't help but laugh with him as I stood back up straight. "I mean hey, if they are comfy, I'm not judging. You should check out my comfy pj pants that I have on right now." He said before standing up and showing me his pj pants. I had to stare hard at my phone to see what it was.

"Is that Cars?" I asked smiling and laughing a bit. I saw him nodding his head. "Yes, they are Cars themed pj pants and they are super-duper comfortable by the way." He said sitting back down on his bed.

"I think I should steal them from you." I said as a joke to him. He laughed as I said that.

"Maybe I will let you keep them!" He said as my face went super red, and I hid my face. "Hey! Where did you go?!" He said laughing loudly as well.

I rose back up from my hiding spot. "I am back from the dead." I said jokingly to him. "But my parents are still talking about the dinner. I think they are talking about you right now. It's good things I promise!" I said with my hands up in defense.

"Yeah, my parents wouldn't either. They talked about you on the way back to the house. It was so embarrassing." He said before I heard him turn on his gaming stuff.

"What are you doing?" I asked before I put my laptop up on the charger and I grabbed my tablet.

"Oh, I'm fixing to play my game. It's like a calming farming like game." I heard him say before I started to play a game on my tablet.

"That's cool. Do you normally play that one or are there other games you play?" I asked him before I heard his controller noises.

"I do play other games like shooting games or simulation games, but I was in the mood for this one because I think this would help me relax." He spoke as he played his game.

I nodded my head. "Cool. I'm also going to play a game on my tablet. Or I might read. I have no clue yet actually. I might do the flip a coin thing." I said as I typed the 'flip a coin' on my search bar. "Heads for game tails for book." I said before I pressed the coin that was on the screen. I waited in anticipation for the coin to land. After what felt like forever, the coin landed. It landed on heads. "Looks like I'm gonna play games!" I said before I opened a game.

"What game are you going to play?" Xavier asked as he glanced at the phone and then back at his game. You could hear soothing music and sounds be played as he played his game.

"I might play like a connecting game, like connect the dots type of thing." I said before I started to play it. We both sat in silence for almost two hours just playing our games. I started to get sleepy from my game. I started to drift off to sleep with my phone on the charger, tablet in my hand, and I was curled up into a ball.

I didn't hear anything happening at all as I was asleep. All I know was that the next morning, I looked over at my phone and I saw my phone was still on a face time call. I furrowed my brows in confusion. Why didn't he hang up the call when I fell asleep? I had so many questions running through my head.

I groaned as I got up. I checked the time, and it was only six in the morning. I rolled my eyes before I went back to sleep again. I am not waking up at six in the morning.

More time went by, and it was now almost the afternoon. I woke up from a noise that I heard before I looked down at my phone. This time it didn't have a face time call on it. I instead got a text message from Xavier. I read his message.

"Hey, I didn't hang up the call because I didn't know that you were sleeping. I also fell asleep too and I didn't know if you were still awake. But I will see you on Monday!""

I chuckled from his message before I got up and went downstairs. The noise was from down there. I looked around the corner as I saw my parents bring in groceries. I quickly came over and helped bring the stuff inside. "I got it." I mumbled before I started to help put the groceries away.

"Look who is now awake!" My dad said looking up at me. "Did you just wake up Adnois?" He asked me with his hands on his hips.

"We told you not to stay up doing homework and studying." My mom said as she crossed her arms. "We want you to succeed but you need to prioritize your health." She continued on.

"I know mom. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stay up for that long." I said before I kissed their cheeks. "Oh, by the way, Xavier said that his mom wants to bring dessert over the next time they come over to our place. They want us to try their desserts I guess." I said as I put the groceries away.

"Well, I am happy that she is doing that! We were talking about that last night actually. When we go over there to have dinner, we are also going to bring dessert!" My dad said, showing me the bags of stuff to make the said dessert.

"What are y'all gonna make for them?" I asked crossing my arms as I was very interested in what they wanted to make.

"Obviously I am going to make my homemade cookies and brownies!" My mom said in a weird, exciting voice.

I nodded my head as I heard her. "Nice. You batter save some for me and Ava. You know how me and Ava are when you bake mom." I said chuckling at the end.

"Oh, trust me honey. I'm going to make a crap ton for everyone. Even for work too. They deserve a treat as well!" My mom said with a warm smile on her face.

I finished up putting the groceries away before I looked at my parents. "I have some more stuff to do so I have to get back to my room now, okay?" I said as I looked at the two.

They both nodded their heads. "You better take a break and eat some food!" My mom said pointing her finger at me. "Yeah! and make sure you drink coffee or tea or water!" My dad said before handing me a tea.

I chuckled softly. "Alright, alright. I will. I promise." I said before I put my hand on my heart. "Alright. I love you guys!" I said before I retreated back to my room to actually do my homework that was due for next week. I studied after I did my homework. making sure I took breaks. I would go and eat food, use the bathroom, talk to my parents and then go back to my room to concur more homework and studying tasks.
