Chapter 4 - CHAPTER FOUR

We all were in our separate classes. The bell finally rang for the end of the day. I quickly got out of my seat and ran to my car, hoping to beat Ava to it. I ran through the hallways before running outside. I smiled happily before I saw Ava bolt straight to my car. My mouth dropped and I tried to beat her to my car.

I heard Ava's giggles when she ran faster. This time, she beat me to my car. "You owe me a nice dinner Saturday!" She yelled when she reached my car. I groaned as she said that to me. I slowed down and reached my car. I panted heavily as I looked up at her. "Dude, how do you run faster than me?!" I said, putting my hands on my legs. "God...I can't run for the life of me...I was never fit for running..."I said as I continued to pant.

"Dude, I feel like you have asthma or something." Ava said before laughing. I rolled my eyes as she said that to me. "Oh, fuck you too." I said before I started to laugh. I stood up straight again and I looked at her again. "I still can't believe you beat me to my car..." I said before I shook my head.

"Well, that's what you get for doing track and cross country in middle school and parts of high school." Ava said before she opened my trunk and put her bag in there. I put my bag in the trunk as well and then got into my car. Ava sat in the passenger seat and we both put our seat belts on. I started to drive to the restaurant.

"So, how do you like Xavier?" Ava asked. I pursed my lips as I thought about it. "I mean, he is cute and everything. He seems pretty nice too. I want to be his friend." I said as I looked over at her and then at the road. "What about you Ava?"

I heard Ava hum a bit, meaning she was trying to figure out what to say about him. "Well, I mean, he seems pretty cool. I can see myself being good friends with him in the future. But I'm saying this in a nice way possible, I don't think I can see myself dating him. He looks more of like your type if anything." She said looking over at me. I furrowed my brows in confusion.

"What do you even mean by that?" I said as I glanced at her and then at the road before pulling up to my dad's restaurant. "Well, he seems like someone for you. Like, I don't know how to describe it really." Ava said before getting out of the car and we both walked into the restaurant, seeing my dad run up to us like yesterday.

"Hey dad!" I smiled happily and hugged him. I love my dad so much, he makes my day so much more happier. I pulled away from the hug and I looked up at him. "How was your day dad?" I asked as me and Ava followed him around back to the kitchen.

"Oh! Today was a better day! Your mother is in a much better mood today! She had a bad client yesterday. That's why her day was so bad that I had to leave work early. How was yours Adnois?" He said as he prepared me and Ava some food for us.

"It was good dad. We got a new student! His name is Xavier and he sees pretty nice." I said before Ava spoke up. "Yeah, he is really nice. He just moved into town like a couple of days ago and he is very nice. We met him at the arcade last night." She chimed in as my father looked at the both of us and nodded his head.

"Where did he move from?" My dad asked. I shrugged my shoulders. "I actually don't know. I forgot to ask him that actually." I said looking at my dad. "Well, next time, invite him to the restaurant! I want to meet him!" He said happily.

I chuckled softly from his response. "Alright dad, I will." I said before I ate the food my dad gave us. "Eat your food before your shift!" My dad told me and Ava happily. I heard to door open. I got up and I went to the counter. "Hi! Welcome in!" I said before I looked up and I saw my mom come in. I smiled happily and I went around and hugged her. "Hey mom!" I said before I felt her arms around me before we pulled away.

"Hi! How is my daughter doing?!" She said happily before gently brushing my hair a bit. I smiled happily and giggled a bit. "I'm doing good! School was good too. I met a new student today and I showed him around the school. He is pretty nice! I think you and dad might like him actually." I said as I looked at the both of them.

"Oh really?" My mom said as she raised her brows. "Well, did he move into the neighborhood we live in?" She asked. I pursed my lips and I looked away and then I looked back at her. "He didn't tell me actually." I told her before I went back to the counter. "Oh, well, if you can, ask him tomorrow or tonight if he comes by here." She said before placing her hands on the counter.

"Yeah, that's what I was thinking about doing actually." I said before looking back up at her. "But, I think dad is waiting for you right now." I said before my dad popped his head out and smiled brightly when he saw my mom. "Honey!" He exclaimed as he ran out to her and hugged her tightly, picking her up off the ground and spinning her. I love and envy their relationship so much. They taught me what true love was. And how you are supposed to love someone.

I heard Ava speak up. "Alright you two! Go into the back and do that lovey dovey stuff! We got customers!" She said before the door opened and a customer came in. I looked up at the door. "Hi! Welcome in!" I said and I saw him. "Oh hey Xavier." I said before I glanced over at my parents. "Guys, this is Xavier. The new kid I was telling y'all about." I said and I showed him to them.

"Oh nice to meet you! We are Adnois's parents! You just moved here, correct?" My dad asked excitedly. He is always excited to meet someone new or just excited to meet people in general.

"Nice to meet you too, sir and yes, I just moved here!" He said and put his hand out for my dad to shake. My dad happily shook his hand in return. "I actually saw the hiring sign and I figured to come in and ask about it!" He said, pointing to the hiring sign we had on the window.

"Oh yes! We are!" My dad said happily. He looked at me and Ava before looking back at Xavier. "Tell you what, let's talk in the back! Get to know each other more and everything! And maybe, if I see you as a good fit for the job, you can start tomorrow or this weekend!" My dad said with a bright smile on his face.

Xavier's face lit up brightly from my dad's offer. He quickly nodded his head. "I would love that! Thank you very much sir!" I heard him say as I took other customers orders and served the out. Xavier and my dad walked into the back, my mom following behind them. I'm guessing she also wants to know more about him. I kept glancing at the back where my dad and mom were. I was nervous about what the three were talking about. I fidgeted with my hands before I looked over at Ava.

"Girl, stop worrying about him!" Ava said, nudging me in the process. I sighed heavily as I heard her say that. "I know Ava, but still. It's my parents, literally interrogating him for a job at this place." I said as I looked over at her again.

"I know I know, but you have to stop worrying about it! Your parents will like him, maybe even invite him and his family over for dinner. Who knows! I have a feeling your parents will like him. Remember that one time I met your parents?" She said. I chuckled softly and nodded my head. "Exactly! Now, stop worrying! He is fine!" She said, making another person's order.

I looked at her as she said that. "You're right Ava. Completely right. But, let's get back to work okay?" I said as I nudged her.

Some time goes by and Xaiver, my mom and dad come out, all laughing and smiling. My dad came up to us with a bright smile. "He is going to start working withy us tomorrow and he is also coming over for dinner with his family as well!" My dad said with a huge smile.

I looked over at Xavier. "I'm guessing my dad likes you a lot then." I said with a chuckle at the end. Xavier nodded his head and chuckled a bit as well. "Yeah, I guess you can say that. Your parents are super nice by the way!" He said to me, crossing his arms.

"Yeah. My parents try to be nice to everyone they meet because they think being nice and respectful to a person will make that person like them. I do understand where they are coming from, but there are so many rude people. Especially to them. I hate it when people are rude to them. Cause, come on, those are my parents and they are one of the most nicest people ever in the whole world!" I said looking at him and my parents. I sighed heavily as I looked at him again. "As you can tell, I am very protective of my parents. They mean a lot to me." I said, fidgeting with my fingers.

"No! It's okay to be that way with your parents! I completely agree with you." He said, only looking at me. "I am the same way with my parents too. They mean a lot to me as well. They birthed me and everything." He said. I could sense the love and closeness that he and his parents have with each other.

"Yeah, exactly! You know what I'm talking about! Also, did you and my parents say that you and your family were coming over tomorrow for dinner at my house? Or is that a different day?" I asked as I was actually curious.

"Oh, I think we settled on having dinner at your place this weekend. I did tell your parents that I was going to the museum with you and Ava this weekend. They kept insisting that I come over for dinner, including my parents. I texted my parents about it actually. When your dad was making the plans, I called them too. They wanted to talk to them about it and see if they were okay with it." He said. I gently nodded my head as I listened to him.

"Good idea actually. Wait, did my parents give you our address?" I said, looking up at him. I saw him purse his lips and look back onto his phone before he shook his head. "Alright, well, I will tell you the address so you better send it to your parents so that way they know where it's at and stuff." Xavier nodded his head before he looked up at me, ready for the address. I told him the address and I smiled softly. "There! Now you know where my house is for Saturday!" I said as I giggled a bit.

I heard him giggle a bit as well, nodding his head at the same time. "Yeah! Thank you for that actually." He said putting his phone back in his pocket. "I actually have to get going now. My parents are waiting for me. But, I will see you later then?" He said, like it was an actual question.

I nodded my head with a soft smile. "Definitely, I will see you later." I said. I watched him smile more from the response. He bid his farewell's to Ava and my parents before he left. I looked over at the three. "So, this is going to be an exciting weekend." I said, laughing nervously.

"See! What did I tell you Adnois! I knew they were going to ask him to come over and stuff!" Ava said as her eyes went big. I rolled my eyes at her and I took a customers order.
