"It ain't," he stressed as he shook his head, "That boy at the party pushed Dove because he saw me. He wanted to impress me or whatever after the whole glass incident and that's why he did it. He just didn't know Dove couldn't swim. I'm telling you both this in complete confidence but Zahi had a little brother who drowned when they were young. That's why Dove never learned to swim. I guess that's why it worked them so hard.
"If I wasn't at the party that would have never happened to begin with because no one would have felt the need to do that to him. Last time was me with the glass, now his boyfriend. You didn't see the way he looked," he gazed out onto the water and I could see the conflict in him. "Dove ain't the type of boy you want to see cry."
"I don't think we should be talking about something he trusted you with Benecio," I partially rasped forgetting about the cigarette in my hand, "He wouldn't like it if he knew you told me. I'm his boss."
