Chapter 435 - The Fall of House Durangor (Part 18)

"Come on!" Kaylynn yelled, using a burst of wind to launch her and Equan forward, causing both of them to come to a stumbling stop just before the last descent of the crater's wall.

Equan quickly stood up, watching as several teams of soldiers slid to a stop and immediately began pushing forward with weapons drawn.

"I don't-" Equan began to speak before Kaylynn had already began sprinting towards the enemies.

"Don't let them get near the main fight!" She demanded, leaping into the air with a speedy spin, and as she did... The air around her began to beckon to her every whim.

Violent lush green energy radiated outward from her spinning body, and following wake: Was a twice as violent tornado... That began to rampage through the enemy forces...

Equan sighed, feeling the terrible pressure in his several wounds.

"Fine..." He grit his teeth, summing a ball of lightning in his left hand... And hurling it towards the tornado...

"Hope this doesn't kill you Kay..." Equan grimaced, closing his eyes.

BOOM! Z-Z-Z-ZAAAP!

And behold... A torrent of electrifying energy had been let loose upon the enemy troops...

Equan's grin turned to a laugh as he turned to a low sprint himself, readying his bow in his hands and leaping towards high ground.

All in which in order to watch this spectacle from the best seats.

Meanwhile inside of that torrent...

'I'M GOING TO KILL HIM!'

Kaylynn roared mentally as the electricity shocked her over and over again while her floating figure changed directions towards where the most enemies stood.

However, an arrow pierced the veil, lodging itself into Kaylynn's shoulder.

"HEY! WHY ARE YOU SHOOTING ME!?" She boomed through the momentary gap in the winds before another arrow pierced a lower part, nearly skewering her foot.

She grit her teeth, launching herself forward and swinging both of her arms back... Dispersing the tornado with an outward blast of winds, knocking back the soldiers closest to her.

That is when she spotted Equan in combat... With a cloaked figure.

The same cloaked figure who had been following them from the start...

She summoned a violent gust of wind below her, propelling herself into the sky above and using that same to wind to glide her way down into the fight, and letting the winds go ten meters above the ground.

SLAM!

Her boot crashed into the cloaked figure's head, knocking him to the ground and swaying back his hood... Revealing a young man with shaggy brown hair and blue eyes.

"Behind you." He chuckled.

Kaylynn dodged, putting her arm up in defense as a battle axe came down on her.

Equan stepped in the way, letting a blast of electricity escape towards the soldier.

Who simply shook his head in response to the high voltage...

"The name is Finnian... And these are my brothers... The Vanguard of Veximus..." The grounded archer grinned, as another figure landed beside him.

Kaylynn stepped in front of Equan, shooting a vortex of wind towards the three, but the one with the battle axe and purple hair overtop of his black face mask: Simply stepped in front, knocking it aside with his axe...

"Damnit." Kaylynn growled, readying herself for close combat as Equan did the same...

...

Justin looked up in horror, unable to perceive whether what he was seeing was real or not... But alas...

"I CAN STOP IT!" Luke screamed, wrapping two chains around Callahan as he dashed away from the titan.

Then suddenly, an ominous energy began to skyrocket out of the pores along Luke's skin.

His eyes reeling in pain as he began to enact his greatest power in the hopes of saving everyone...

He could see... Only red... A hazy and bloody red...

Justin sprinted over, hesitating before he could touch Luke who had fallen to his knees... The only sign of life being the twitching of his eyes and the flexing of his hands around his chains...

But it was Callahan's laughter that drove true fear into Justin's heart...

Then Luke's head snapped upward, his crimson eyes locked into a fatal gaze against the quickly-growing sphere of metal above...

...

Hans woke with a violent thrash, shoving the remnants of his gauntlet into the ground and forcing himself to his feet.

That was before he felt the disturbance in gravity... And looked up at the impending doom before the lot of Unity...

Then his eyes darted towards Luke... Who looked as if he was trying to use Callahan's own energy to stop it...

"It isn't enough..." Hans growled, looking over at Gideon's lifeless body and scowling.

That is when a pillar of rock shot from the ground below Gideon, launching him into the air and waking him from his immature slumber.

"Help me stop it." Hans demanded, leaping towards the highest elevation of ground in the crater.

"Huh... You... Wait... You aren't going to-" Gideon panicked, instantly opening his palms towards the sky at the realization of this not being anything remotely close to a joke, not that Hans would joke in the first place.

Purple energy prismed along his hands as he braced himself for the weight of what could have been a moon for all Gideon knew...

Hans lowered himself, pressing his fingers against the ground below and closing his eyes.

Then with one last blast of Axis energy... Hans roared as exploded back, catching the Sphere of Metal against the back with horrible force...

At the same time... Both Gideon and Luke let out screams of their own, their own bodies betraying their wills under the force of a meteor...

Then... At that very moment...

Gemini sprinted up one of the lower slopes of elevation... Leaping off of the edge and reaching out with his right hand for the Sphere of Metal... Barely missing its edge before the metal reached outward, wrapping around his hand like a liquid and dragging him up partially inside of the Sphere...

He grinned.

"Just a little longer!" He called out, attaching another piece of machinery to the bottom of the stagnant but trembling meteor.

He connected several more wires, even placing another machine onto the side of the current one.

Before...

"YES!" and as Gemini's energy began to transfer into the metal... It began to reel in creak under the power of the opposing forces going against it and Callahan's wills alike.

"No! Wait!" Callahan screamed, hammering his fists into the chains that went unmoved in Luke's grip...

...

Jack simply stood... His legs solid as concrete and his eyes only ever staring at the ground below him...

His arms hung at his sides, trembling and quaking as his eyes followed the same...

His face was smeared in a bloody grin wrapping along his entire face... His fingers twitched and jiggled as his eyes slowly looked up at the sky that grew far too close for comfort...

He didn't care.

No.

Jack had lost all sense of true cognition...

If anything...

He had become a machine-

"NOOOOO! NO NO NAHA AHAHA!" Jack bellowed blood and yells, his body releasing that very same substance like a river as his own flames began to eat himself alive.

"I NEED MORE!" He screamed, ripping his own skin from his flesh...

His knees hit the ground as his face was that depicted from true horror...

The stuff of nightmares...

He pulled and tugged on his own face, jabbing his own eyes... Only adding more irritation to the flames bursting to life along his skin...

"My- My Catalyst!" He screamed in horror, stabbing at his own sternum with solid jagged flames.

"Its... Its failing..." His voice became that of a croak, escaping into the hopeless air around them.

"I... I won't let it..." He growled, his legs strengthening, forcing him to a stance... Even against his own bodies decimation... He had stood back up, looking down at his charred hands as they slowly withered away...

"I... Will... Burn... Everything..." He panted, nearly tripping over himself as he craved for Callahan's head... Trying everything against all odds in order to reach his bane...

And then...

From dying embers far beneath the Continent of Vallmora...

His call was heard...

Therefor breaking the fourth Oath of the Lesser gods sacred pact...
