Chapter 281 - Chapter 281

Coughing echoed throughout the dungeon, as Gemini's head rose.

He gasped for air, clinging to the life that Chase had somehow restored.

Turning back towards the other two as a pair of footsteps echoed down the hall, he held out a hand for the strongest of the three.

Chase stood up, making sure that he stood taller than the ex-general.

"Rayan of House Mayhem... I ask that you turn over a new leaf, and you join me in my rebellion against the man who imprisoned you..."

He spoke strongly but truthfully.

Rayan hesitated, pushing his body up with what little strength he had left.

"I will not take your hand."

He eventually said.

"I- I have to find my own way, and I do not wish to fight Rider... The things he did to me... I am sure that you can understand that much."

he spoke, his voice somewhat shaky as he did so.

Chase nodded.

"I see, then leave the kingdom, head West towards The Kingdom of Solis. I am sure you will come across my men, they will give you food and water."

Chase said, walking past the broken man and sitting down next to the seer who had once saved him.

She was shivering, and clearly in fear.

Chase sat down, gazing forward as Rayan had begun to walk out of the dungeon, meeting Justin on the way out as they exchanged words that Chase did not care enough to hear.

Eventually Justin grabbed Gemini, helping carry the boy's weight as they left the dungeon shortly after.

Chase sat in the silence of the dark room, his eyes focused on the residues of energy that slowly faded from the halls.

The girl was still trying to recollect herself, as Justin had set down a suit of armor for her before he had left.

She did not rush to equip it though, as she only continued to gather herself.

Once her breathing calmed, and she was able to grasp just what was happening around her, she cleared her throat.

"May I ask why you cannot see?"

She spoke calmly, but still the echoes of pain lingered in her being.

Chase cocked an eyebrow, looking forward as he started to speak.

"You are a seer, and a powerful one at that... But I suspect you cannot read me... Which is why Rider threw you into the dungeon... Am I right?"

Chase asked, feeling that his suspicion was true.

She only nodded, which was hard for Chase to tell as he had to focus on the energy within her head.

"Well, I made a deal with a goddess, and will not receive my sight until I stand within the throne room of The King of Corruption..."

Chase said flatly, as if it was something that any normal person would say.

"I see..."

She eventually said in a monotoned voice.

Chase shrugged and leaned back against the stone wall.

"I am sure you can guess why I haven't just let my general assist you out of the room..."

She nodded sternly, lowering her body as she began to pick up the armor before her.

"You need my help..."

Chase nodded.

"You gave me very vague instructions on that day... And I don't even know your name, or at least I do not recall if you gave me it or not. I wasn't really in a listening situation..."

He joked with little humor in his tone.

As she strapped the armor to her being, she gazed forward.

"You cannot enter the catalyst, or else it will kill you... And if it doesn't... You will meet a fate far worst than the king's..."

Chase looked up, letting his senses expand beyond the dungeon, as a terrible violet radiance began to overwhelm his body.

"I see..."

She finished putting her armor on, and leaned back against the wall, rubbing her stomach with her frail hand.

Chase thought it cruel... That he was about to ask such a question to a girl in such a state.

"I am Ivy, although my house does not matter as I would like to cut off any connection to them..."

She said quietly, weakness tinged in her very voice.

"Very well, I am The King of Solis, Chase of House Phoenix. And I would like to know if you can still fight..."

Chase understood what Ivy had said when she had told him that he could not enter the room.

"I need to break it from underneath, let it go unstable. The door that seals it off is made of strong metal that will protect it from the blast. So I will need to get a very powerful explosion ruin marked into the floor of the throne room..."

He trailed off, looking upward at the ceiling with a distant expression on his face.

"I can fight..."

She said after a moment of silence.

"Then go to the armory... Then find Rider, tell him that I am awaiting him within the throne room... He won't kill you..."

She shook her head.

"How do you know!?"

She panicked.

Chase grinned.

"Because he cannot kill me without your help... He knows that much..."
