Chapter 249 - Chapter 249

Neveah watched in horror as the two powerful beings clashed, destroying every wall within the cafeteria.

She had killed her opponents, feeling the guilt of murder finally sully her very being, but she could not let that get to her, it was why she had looked up to Chase for so long.

The boy who had murdered, and not let it break him, the boy who had singlehandedly won a war, and been outcasted because of it... And he was still able to smile...

As an explosion of fire expanded with haste towards her side of the room, he lunged in front of the students cowering in fear.

Lifting her blade in front of her, and chanting a few words of the Primis arts...

A forcefield of her own crimson energy formed just before the powerful magic was about to crash into her and the students.

She screamed as the shield began to crack under the powerful force of the enemy mage.

However...

She did not falter...

Clenching her teeth and gripping the blade's handle until her knuckles went white, she did not stop releasing her own energy.

After all, Lithica was doing his best to fight such a strong enemy, his wonderful wings had been destroyed, and his body looked like it was at his breaking point.

Yet, even if he could hardly land any hits, the man was fighting with his all and not backing down in the least.

Neveah let out a terrible cry as the oncoming explosions rattled her body and mind.

'I cannot...'

"I CANNOT YIELD!"

She yelled, stepping up from her kneeling position, keeping the barrier held together by pure will.

She stepped forward, pushing the barrier in front of her.

The bandage on her ruined eye fell off of her face, as blood began to leak from every pore of her being.

Yet she stepped.

And stepped.

The room slowly moved past her as she continued forward.

Lithica had been struck once more, this time ripping the nose straight off of his inhumanly beautiful face.

tears mixed with the blood in her eyes, even in that of which was once destroyed for good, she found solace in the strange returning feeling, even if it meant she would break under the force, she would ensure that her body continued forward.

The mage continued to swing his magic blade and release powerful arts of energy as he did so, and yet no one fell to his hand.

They couldn't fall to his hand.

Even though it was all pointless, Neveah had found something she could protect, these students were probably only first years, they did not ask to be brought into such a situation.

They no doubt had families, and people who worried for them.

Neveah had no such thing, not after that man had taken the only person she could call a father...

Feeling the pressure begin to destroy her teeth, she continued forward, until her barrier began to press against the mage's energy, overpowering his mighty forcefield.

It was only then when she finally got a good look at the man.

He was missing a hand...

Severed by what could have only been a dagger, but he was strangely familiar, he was elderly, and wore a cold look in his inhuman eyes.

Neveah felt angry, felt afraid, but more than anything...

She felt bliss.

Her barrier finally clashed into the back of the mage, as Gabriel had finally returned, quickly slashing the back of the mage's knee as he was distracted by Lithica's eternal onslaught.

"Thank you friends..."

Neveah whispered, as she began to shape her barrier into that of a sphere.

She forced it downward, and around the enraged mage.

Gabriel dashed out of the way with a roll, crashing into one of the flipped over tables.

Lithica did not stop his onslaught, even though Neveah tried to cry for the angel to back off, he did not.

But it was strange.

The angel had a smile on his face...

The loud explosions and crashes of the room stopped, and silence was all she could hear as a small red circle continued to get smaller in front of her and around the the mage who had committed such vile sins.

Lithica had vanished, Neveah's ears rang, and her eyes fluttered, but she did not stop condensing the barrier, as the mage screamed in terror, his crimson eyes looked up and the lifeless bloodlust faded from them.

He was pleading...

Neveah then felt a final rush of power, as her Primis reserves had now probably reached the negatives, taking her own life force and converting it into powerful energy.

Everything stopped.

And a loud grotesque snapping sound echoed through the cafeteria.

Blood splattered everywhere as the barrier the size of a watermelon cracked open.

She smiled.

"I did it..."
