The first zombie shoved its ruined face into the shooting slot.
Tang Li Yue could still make out traces of the man it had once been. A faded blue shirt hung from its thin shoulders, while a cracked pair of glasses dangled uselessly from one ear. Blood had dried in a dark strip from its scalp down to its crooked jaw. Its eyes, however, were no longer human. They were black and empty, greedily fixed on the warmth gathered behind the fence.
Then Gao Jun fired.
The zombie's head snapped backward from the impact before its body dropped out of sight.
Another one immediately took its place.
Tang Li Yue's expression darkened.
"How hardworking," she muttered.
Lu Chengran fired beside her.
The bullet struck cleanly through the zombie's brow. Its body crumpled against the lower spikes and slowly slid down, leaving behind a smear that Tang Li Yue absolutely did not want to think about. Lu Chengran shifted his rifle without hesitation, sighted another target, and fired again.
