Chapter 14 - Weird Encounter...

"That will be all for today. Classes start fully tomorrow, so use this opportunity wisely." The man turned and walked out with the same confidence he'd entered with.

"So... where to from here?"

I didn't need to turn around to know it was Silver.

"The cafe—" I stopped mid-sentence as reality hit me.

No points.

"The dorms," I said, slinging my bag over my shoulder and heading for the exit.

"How about the cafeteria?" Silver asked, and I met his eyes.

"It's only 10:32 am. I'm not hungry yet." My tone came out flatter than I intended.

"What if I said it's on me?"

I almost said yes. Almost. But something held me back.

Sure, I was broke—completely point-blank broke—but the academy provided three square meals a day, so I wasn't exactly fucked. The meals were 7 am sharp, 12 pm sharp, and 6 pm sharp. However, if you missed any of them, you're screwed for the day. Unless you have points, of course.

"No thanks."

He shrugged. "Your loss."

The words stung a little. Free meal and all. But I couldn't trust this bastard. There was no character named Silver in the game, which made me wary as hell.

"Sure," I said, and we walked toward the exit together.

The moment we got there, he headed straight for the cafeteria.

Is it too late to change my mind?

[Don't be a man with no integrity.]

"Says the evil entity," I muttered sarcastically, making my way to the elevator.

At least I don't have roommates. Especially someone as annoying as Silver. I'd probably kill him if we shared a room.

The elevator area was empty when I arrived. Made sense—everyone was probably headed to the cafeteria, which had its own elevator on another floor.

Ping!

The doors slid open, but before I could step inside—

"What the—!"

A hand shot out, grabbed me, and yanked me in.

"FUCK!" I slammed into the metallic wall.

I looked up and saw a face that, for some reason, scared the hell out of me. "Selena."

Before I could move, she was on me.

BAM!

"Crap!" Pain shot through my body.

She wasn't attacking me—she was embracing me. But given how weak I was and how monstrously strong she was, it felt like slamming into a mountain.

Then she sniffed me.

Actually sniffed me.

What the hell?!

"Get off me!" I tried to push her away, but it was like a baby trying to move a mountain.

"Why didn't you come back for me?" She pulled back, her peach-colored eyes boring into mine.

"What the fuck are you talking about?! Let me go!"

BAM!

"Damn!" I gasped as her punch landed square in my gut.

Now she was attacking me.

"Don't act like you don't remember me. I might just beat you to death if you try to act dumb." She pouted, the cute expression completely at odds with her words.

"I. Don't. Know. You." I emphasized every word.

God, why did I even do that?

"Then let me beat the memory back into you."

I regretted rejecting that free meal even more.
