Afternoon has approached, and she still felt eyes on her. It was intense when she was alone in her room, or no one was around her. Avery's breath quickens. She had checked the cameras in the house, but she couldn't find those eyes. They were out on the golf field. She felt more relaxed than being in the house.
"What's wrong, babe?" she startled when she felt Alex closer to her.
Alex looked at her with furrowed brows. He handed over the bottle of water. Avery gripped it before gulping everything. She cleaned her mouth with the back of her hand and gave the empty bottle to Alex.
" Do you wanna tell me what's going on?" Alex insisted.
Avery took in a deep breath and turned to him.
"This might sound stupid, but I think someone is watching me."
Alex raised a brow at her. She nibbled on her lip.
"Are you sure?"
Avery scoffed at him and rolled her eyes.
"Why would I lie about something serious?"
"I'm sorry, bae. I just thought you were tired. You've been stressing yourself since we came here. Maybe you should take a break. I'm here. I'd take care of everything."
Avery sighed and lowered her head. She fumbled with her fingers and nodded. "Maybe you're right. I'm pushing myself too much."

She got out from the shadows behind the curtains. Veronica smiled as she scanned the house. The maids were having a siesta since no one was at home. It was time to execute her plan. She had waited for so long for this moment, and she wouldn't let anyone destroy it. Her fingers traced on the centre table. She was going to make Avery regret what she had done to her. Her face is ruined because of her. She has to cover her face up.
She has been following her for a long time, and it was time. Time for her revenge.
"Who are you?"
Veronica sucked in a deep breath. Why was he here? Everyone was out. She had made sure before she came out of her hiding. She turned to face Ben, the gaderner.
Luckily, her face was covered.
"Hello, I'm the new maid."
Ben frowned at her.
"New maid? But, aren't there a lot of maids already? These rich people. Always spending money. Wait. How come I haven't seen you around, and why is your face covered? And why are you wearing all black?"
She gritted her teeth. Why was he so nosy?
" I just started today, sir, and it's for religious purposes, that is why I'm covered up."
Ben made an oh sound and nodded at her. He turned to leave but paused.
"Aren't you going to join the others?"
Veronica clenched and unclenched her jaw. This piece of shit. She had things to do.
"No, sir. I'd be leaving soon. Also, Madam Avery said I should look around and clean what I can clean. Afterall, I only work during siete."
Ben nodded at her and left.
