At the last moment, he twisted to the right, so the lightning spear only grazed his cheek before shooting straight past him and exploding against another wall behind him.
Emrys hadn't even caught his breath when Jin appeared in front of him, delivering a lightning punch to his stomach.
The impact sent electricity and a burst of wind across the area. Jin followed it up with lightning-infused punches to both sides of Emrys's face, then an uppercut that made Emrys stumble backward with his head tilted up.
Jin moved forward to continue his attacks, but Emrys managed to stay conscious.
Before Jin could land another blow, Emrys slammed his forehead into Jin's with full force. The impact was so strong that both of them felt as if their skulls had cracked.
Jin fell to the ground, dizzy, clutching his bleeding forehead.
But Emrys simply stood with his hands on his hips, grinning as he watched Jin's eyelids grow heavier while staring up at him. Damn it. His skull is way too hard. That was the last thing Jin Dui thought before everything went dark and his mind went blank.
Once his opponent had completely passed out, Emrys finally felt the sting on his own forehead and grabbed it at once.
He admitted that Jin Dui had talent. His movements were truly fast, and if Emrys hadn't quickly come up with a way to stop him, he might have already lost the fight.
This made him realize he had to train even harder to master the invisible wind barrier so something like this wouldn't happen again.
When Magnus and the other groups of students arrived at the scene, they found no one except two unconscious students in different locations.
Meanwhile, away from the crowded area—
Emrys had already left. As he ran through a dark alley, he could feel a shadowy presence following him.
He wanted to avoid them so he could rest for tomorrow, but before he reached the other end of the alley, a black flame suddenly erupted and blocked his path.
It was so strong and huge that the heat forced Emrys to jump back—despite being six meters away, he felt he would be burned instantly.
He looked behind him, but the presence he sensed earlier had vanished. That meant it was a trap if he tried to go back.
This was bad.
If he hadn't trained today, his body would have already given up from exhaustion after hiding from countless eyes. He wasn't only hiding from students—he was also masking his presence from all the teachers and even the headmaster's guests.
So now he was feeling twice as tired.
Emrys wasted no time. He raised his hand, ready to unleash a wind burst to clear the fire blocking his way, but before he could release the energy, dozens of thick threads suddenly appeared, wrapping tightly around his body.
With a single clench of a fist from the hidden figure in the alley, the threads tightened rapidly, binding Emrys completely.
Emrys struggled, but his feet lifted off the ground, and he gritted his teeth hard from the pressure crushing his body.
It felt like his body would be cut into hundreds of pieces. He felt worse than paralyzed and poisoned at the same time, trapped in threads as strong as diamond.
The black flame soon disappeared, and from the darkness came Xin, standing before the struggling Emrys. His hands were behind his back, controlling the threads.
And he wasn't alone. One by one, more than ten members of the White Hunters Guild appeared, including Loan, Eris, and Sai.
Some were on the rooftops, others on both sides of the alley, completely surrounding him. There was no escape.
"How have you been, young Valestron?" Xin asked calmly, looking up at him. "It took us a while to catch you. I admit I underestimated you at first, but it seems I chose the wrong one."
The three friends exchanged glances at what they heard. Xin chuckled and looked at Sai. "But that doesn't mean I didn't want to choose you three. I hope you understand what I mean."
"He means you're useless to him," Emrys muttered softly as blood dripped from the corner of his mouth. He looked at Sai and added, "So if you don't want to get kicked out of his Guild, try doing better at least a little." Then he grinned at them teasingly.
"You're already caught, and you're still arrogant. Serves you right," Loan whispered.
Xin sighed and tightened the threads even more. Emrys clenched his teeth harder as the pain intensified.
He tried to release a strong burst of wind to cut the threads, but it was useless.
"Those threads are made from my original energy, capable of forming any kind of weapon. With their durability, I haven't found any weapon that can cut them. So I'm sorry that I'm the one who caught you—you worked so hard until the end. Nothing personal, boy."
But Xin only received a smirk from Emrys as he replied with amused eyes, "Oh really? Let's see about that."
