Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Pocketwatch

.

.

"So, what do you think?" I asked.

"Hmm... OH I KNOW!"

"Really?!"

"YEAH, IT'S AN ANTIQUE!" Adrian proudly said.

I completely forgot that despite his vast knowledge regarding astronomy, he's a simpleton overall.

*sigh* "Of course i know it's an antique, but do you see any weird or unnatural thing here for a watch?" I strongly asked.

"No, not really. And most importantly, it doesn't even work. The battery is dead and the main spring is destroyed." Adrian stated as he inspects the watch.

"Is that so.. but is there any other way to—"

"No, if there was, it would be to buy a brand new one. This thing's frame is rusty as hell" Adrian said when he cut me when i was still talking.

"That's too bad, maybe I'll just set it aside.." I said in a disappointed tone.

Does this mean I'll never be able to return to the future? But how did this thing even worked back then and took me back.. Whose property is this even in the first place?

A lot of questions circled in my mind but i had a sense of responsibility, like i was made for something like this. Like I was meant to fulfill something..

On my way home, i bumped into Christine.

"Oh, hi there" I greeted her with a smile.

"Hello." She greeted me back coldly.

"Are you on your way back home?" I asked her.

"Yeah, it's getting cloudy too, it seems like it's about to rain."

"I'll go on ahead." Christine said as she left in a hurry.

I just nodded but after a while, rain started pouring heavily. I didn't see her carrying an umbrella so i rushed out to catch up with her.

"Jeez, did she even had an umbrella?"

A few moments, i finally reached her. She's already soaking wet from the rain, she used her bag to shield herself from the rain but it wasn't enough.

"You didn't take an umbrella with you?" I asked Christine.

"No.. I forgot it at home." She said as she wipes off the water from her face.

*Sneezes*

I chuckled a bit when Christine sneezed, so i offered her my spare jacket so that she can stay warm.

"Ew, what's that for? I don't need it"

Christine looked away. As i had a broken facial expression out of shock.

Was i just turned downed?! ME?? She was too cold to me!!

I realized that i am directly alternating the supposed future. We were not meant to make this much contact before a week from now.

It's still a mystery to me why i forgot about her, it felt like my memories were sealed or something..

I lent my umbrella to Christine, she was hesitant at first but i insisted so she took it.

Because of me being too kind to others, i ended up catching a cold.

[The next day]

I called Adrian's phone and asked him if what would he do if he can time travel.

"Time travel huh... maybe I'll bet on a winning number in the arcade and win it lol" He said jokingly.

"But anyway, why are you suddenly asking me about these questions? did you suddenly got interested in the concept of time travel?"

He asked.

"You've been acting kinda strange lately."

"No, nothing, i just thought about it, thanks man" I hanged up the phone.
