Chapter 14 - 3.3

A fond sigh left the shorter man's lips yet there was a sad look in his eyes. He decided to ignore the last words, and focused on the start. "Why do you think that? What if I really need to apologise, then?"

The general was looking down at the other, his expression turning softer. He could see the sadness behind the others eyes, and it made him frown slightly. he gently lifted a hand, his fingers softly rubbing against the other's cheek, a soft, almost protective look in his eyes. "You will never.... Never need to apologize... Not to me. Or anynone. Understand? ever. You... Always assume it's your fault... That it's on you. It's not. It's never been your fault. Not with me, not with anyone else. So even if you think you need to apologise...don't. because it's not, and I'll be there to make you understand it's not."

"You don't understand, general. Those words...they sound sweet in theory. Not so much in reality." He said with resignation, and a hint of longing. "It's not possible. How can you be so sure it isn't just lust of the skin? A bodily desire? A fleeting fancy?"

Those words... Those specific words... They made Luo Xing's eyes narrow slightly, something dark flashing behind them. He hated how the other said it so... Resigned. His grip on the courtesan tightened yet again, his fingers digging into the soft flesh. He stared at the other, a low growl rising up in his throat. He hated...no, he loathed those words.

"Do not... Ever. Say that again. Don't you... Ever say those words again" he repeated, an almost possessive look in his eyes.

"And you tell me to accept these... These other prospects. Were they the ones who wrote to me while I was at the borders? Were they the ones who prayed for my safety? Were they?!" His anger boiled over. Not at the omega, though. Never at him. "And don't you dare hide it. You're just as affected by this as me."

"I... That's... Irrelevant," He looked away. "You're reading too much into things."

Luo Xing let out a frustrated huff, as he grabbed the other's chin, turning his face back to look at him. he pressed his back against the wall, his whole body trapping the smaller man against the surface. He leaned down, his face close to the courtesan's. he could hear the others heartbeat, it was racing. And it wasn't because of fear. He knew that much.

"Irrelevant? Irrelevant my ass. And I'm not 'reading' into anything. You're just refusing to admit it."

"*Admit. It*"
